This video is just demonizing BCCI as if the money they make is "easy money", but it is the interest of the fans that gives them that. Same could be the case for any country in the world, if they had a similar fan following. Also there are all teams that need to qualify for world Cup before it starts so every team in the world plays qualification matches, so this whole 16 teams to 10 teams comparison is useless. It's just their teams are not good enough to qualify. The main problem in India is that the fans are fans of cricket players more than cricket. Like for example, due to the IPL there is a rift between the fans of Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit, KL Rahul, Shreyas, and Gill. Fans dont understand that they all are Indins and they all play for India ( Though Dhoni has retired and Virat, Rohit an Jadeja have retired from t20Is).
I think currently we are going through those times that will be looked back on in the future and labelled as the era that killed international cricket. We may not be realising it now, but its the loss of cricket and a true cricket fan inside all of us. We are already missing what cricket used to be in the 90s, just imagine the day when there will be no competitive international cricket, only leagues will be played. National teams are getting killed off, in the name of greed, west indies, zimbabwe, sri lanka are no longer seen as interanational calibre teams.

I'm a Bangladeshi, I express my sorrows on India's loss in the final. I remember back in 2006/7 up to 2015 or so me and all the boys my age were hooked to cricket. I used to skip my meals in fear that if i go to eat, my fav batsman might be out. But now I don't care. I haven't watched any cricket matches for about 4/5 years. Didn't watch a single match this year too. Only got to know about the final after it happened. It also feels like a waste of time given the fact that it takes so much time and besides it's just seeing the same india, pakistan, bangladesh, srilanka drama over and over again. Before there were teams like kenya, Zimbabwe, Scotland, ireland etc. All those teams are lost too.

The rivalry that the Ashes brings is truly outstanding as Australia and England love to defeat each other. The rivalry is definitely still there, other than that most Day 1 of test matches (in Melbourne) get around 50,000-60,000. Australia's attempt of the IPL, the BBL was going fantastically until it got too stale and constant rule changes were made which resulted in confusion more than excitement. Cricket runs strong in Australia in summer too. Very intriguing and well made documentary.
I am an Indian and I have to agree with every word said in this video. Lots of people like me who used to feel good about India winning a match against the attacks of McGrath/Brett Lee or Bond/Martin of yesteryears, now don't watch cricket anymore. The likes of Srini mama who gave debuts to every tom dick and harry of CSK, the removal of group stages in the WC, and frequent T20 world cups is all diluting and taking away the feel good factor of the game.

@@yaduvarma9854 But that's the whole point of world cups isn't it? Any team can have a chance at Glory by beating bigger teams. If Australia can lose 2 matches at the start, then they don't deserve to be World Champions of Cricket by definition. Then some other team like Netherlands would've qualified from their group, which would result in cricket growing in their country. If a team is facing an upset then that must increase the watchability and marketability, and ICC isn't selling it well. It's dumb from ICC that since some big team will miss out on advancing from group stages that they have put in a league format, eventually only one team will win the WC so all other big teams will be out of the tournament at some point anyway.

You spoke my mind. When IPL was new. I enjoyed it as anybody in India. After watching first two years of IPL. Cricket died inside me. I loved cricket. But overdone killed it for me. I miss test matches. Where.. techniques and strategies were key. Now.. its just hit ball across boundary and watch cheerleaders dance. Its pathetic. Yeah. IPL is the main reason. The loss of interest in ODI and Test Cricket, the heavy commercialization and the reason that Cricket is more of a business than a sport of passion. It's all because of IPL which is only because of BCCI. They put more politics in it and eventually made it a laughing stock and a boring one at that.
but test matches are still being played and India is doing lot better than it used to. Also, world test championship is there so nations are competing rather than just playing bilaterals.

Behind every big thing there is politics, and not necessarily in a bad way. Money is needed to sustain anything big or relevant. This video is just demonizing BCCI as if the money they make is "easy money", but it is the interest of the fans that gives them that. Same could be the case for any country in the world, if they had a similar fan following. BCCI does what it does for India, and if it makes a lot of money, there is absolutely no reason in the world they should strangle themselves "for the interest of cricket" like some people yell about, as they are doing what's their job, raising Indian Cricket.

And they are definitely not the monopolistic powerhouses as portrayed in this video, for example look at Afghanistan cricket now. If other countries falter at having good players, how is that BCCI'S fault. Also there are all teams that need to qualify for world Cup before it starts so every team in the world plays qualification matches, so this whole 16 teams to 10 teams comparison is useless. It's just their teams are not good enough to qualify. For example, it is not BCCI who has ruined west Indian cricket, it's there players that weren't able to qualify, which is sad indeed, but west Indies needs to look into it and not BCCI.

I wish ganguly had remained president of BCCI for longer. When cricketers will run cricket then they will definitely show more love to the sport and cricket will get more interesting when there r more competitive teams. Nobody will enjoy a world cup in which u know from the start who will be the semifinalists. If there r only 4 teams capable of winning the world cup then can we really be able to call it a world cup? It will be more of a tournament among 4 nations. SL and WI are already not considered capable of reaching semis, next i think Pakistan and South africa are on the same path as SL and WI. Cricket cannot be the same if these 4 nations officially become minnows in the sport. Rather than making minnow teams more competitive we r making teams that used to be competitive now minnows. Being an Indian I was a huge cricket fan since childhood but in recent times football has attracted me a lot as the competitiveness of World Cricket is slowly dying with Indian cricket board on the top swallowing all the power and not resourcing it to different countries in an organized way so that there would be more competitors in the game .......I feel BCCI needs to be questioned in this matter

This is one of the most honest videos I have ever seen. Very well researched and beautifully structured and presented. Imagine if China, USA and Brazil start playing cricket. India would struggle to qualify for knock out stage. True, sponsors have killed the game by skewing it in favour of one nation but once many nations start playing seriously then it will again be good business to support no one nation as the viwership would be global, just like Soccer World Cup. Bullsh**. BCCI is Indian body, doing whatever that is required for India. There is absolutely no reason for them to care about cricket in the rest of the world. And the money they make is not through "cheat code" or smt, but millions of fans of Indian cricket. In any country of the world if this was the case, they would have done same, if not worse. Very well made documentary. It takes guts to make a video that exposes your own country's wrongdoing. India's unfair domination was evident in this year's Asia cup. There was a reserve day only for India vs Pakistan match and the final. It is mind boggling to think that there is no level playing field.

I know fans are hurt when India loses in big tournament but that doesn't mean India is killing it - if it weren't India someone else like England Australia would take over and earn those $. Not to forget the sport also helps build small leagues and nourish talent in the sports. I think currently we are going through those times that will be looked back on in the future and labelled as the era that killed international cricket. We may not be realising it now, but its the loss of cricket and a true cricket fan inside all of us. We are already missing what cricket used to be in the 90s, just imagine the day when there will be no competitive international cricket, only leagues will be played. National teams are getting killed off, in the name of greed, west indies, zimbabwe, sri lanka are no longer seen as interanational calibre teams.
True we need many nations play cricket and diversity in matches not just Indian team player

I'm a Bangladeshi, I express my sorrows on India's loss in the final. I remember back in 2006/7 up to 2015 or so me and all the boys my age were hooked to cricket. I used to skip my meals in fear that if i go to eat, my fav batsman might be out. But now I don't care. I haven't watched any cricket matches for about 4/5 years. Didn't watch a single match this year too. Only got to know about the final after it happened. It also feels like a waste of time given the fact that it takes so much time and besides it's just seeing the same india, pakistan, bangladesh, srilanka drama over and over again. Before there were teams like kenya, Zimbabwe, Scotland, ireland etc. All those teams are lost too.

I know fans are hurt when India loses in big tournament but that doesn't mean India is killing it - if it weren't India someone else like England Australia would take over and earn those $. Not to forget the sport also helps build small leagues and nourish talent in the sports. Stop being hateful formats like T20 has made the sports decently popular - with cricket being included in olympics shows how much has BCCI lobbied for the game. i don't know much about this channel but BCCI (in turn India) earning revenue is actually a good thing- not to forget despite losing final, India was the best time throughout the world cup.
Brits started cricket in their colonies basically to beat them and gain benefits. When the colonies like India and Australia started beating them, they started this narrative. Hats-off to India for beating them at their own game. India's success was NOT funded by ICC ever, then why should India/BCCI let go of their grip now. If other countries need to climb up the ladder, they need to find their way up rather than crying.

The rivalry that the Ashes brings is truly outstanding as Australia and England love to defeat each other. The rivalry is definitely still there, other than that most Day 1 of test matches (in Melbourne) get around 50,000-60,000. Australia's attempt of the IPL, the BBL was going fantastically until it got too stale and constant rule changes were made which resulted in confusion more than excitement. Cricket runs strong in Australia in summer too. Very intriguing and well made documentary.
I am an Indian and I have to agree with every word said in this video. Lots of people like me who used to feel good about India winning a match against the attacks of McGrath/Brett Lee or Bond/Martin of yesteryears, now don't watch cricket anymore. The likes of Srini mama who gave debuts to every tom dick and harry of CSK, the removal of group stages in the WC, and frequent T20 world cups is all diluting and taking away the feel good factor of the game.

@@yaduvarma9854 But that's the whole point of world cups isn't it? Any team can have a chance at Glory by beating bigger teams. If Australia can lose 2 matches at the start, then they don't deserve to be World Champions of Cricket by definition. Then some other team like Netherlands would've qualified from their group, which would result in cricket growing in their country. If a team is facing an upset then that must increase the watchability and marketability, and ICC isn't selling it well. It's dumb from ICC that since some big team will miss out on advancing from group stages that they have put in a league format, eventually only one team will win the WC so all other big teams will be out of the tournament at some point anyway.

You spoke my mind. When IPL was new. I enjoyed it as anybody in India. After watching first two years of IPL. Cricket died inside me. I loved cricket. But overdone killed it for me. I miss test matches. Where.. techniques and strategies were key. Now.. its just hit ball across boundary and watch cheerleaders dance. Its pathetic. Idc which businessmen or celebrities own which team. I miss cricket in all this glamour.

Yeah. IPL is the main reason. The loss of interest in ODI and Test Cricket, the heavy commercialization and the reason that Cricket is more of a business than a sport of passion. It's all because of IPL which is only because of BCCI. They put more politics in it and eventually made it a laughing stock and a boring one at that.
but test matches are still being played and India is doing lot better than it used to. Also, world test championship is there so nations are competing rather than just playing bilaterals.
