People hyping this up and saying it's bigger than EPL,should realise that EPL cannot be compared with IPL(read the details around it). The only thing that IPL can compared with in football is the ESL (and it doesn't exist yet). If it were to exist, here is the value. The current value of IPL is $ 6.2B. The combined value of just the teams in the proposed ESL would be $34.4B. There is no way shape or form cricket can trump football. Why?
    - Cricket is really followed by mostly Indians.
    - India has a low per capita income in dollar terms, and that means, even if you have high viewership , it won't translate into something close to what football would in terms of overall viewership.
-Yes,India will grow to a 10T economy, and as Indian I'd be happy about it, but cricket's growth will primarily be in India, and Football will grow more organically across various nations.Imagine, the chinese league taking off,the middle eastern league taking off,the European Super League taking off. And what if Indian football takes off? The format of cricket and it's complexity will always take viewers away from it.
Just look at the Top 20 richest sporting person in the whole world, you would probably find more American sports person,a few footballers, and possibly only one or two cricketer.
