Personally, I'd take this and a few mods. For the extra cost, I can buy carbon wheels which are lighter than the forged ones, and other than that, almost everything else is just things like carbon parts and a front mud guard.
I have this on order. Still torn between a used 950 SP or this one. I test rode a standard HyperMotard 950 and 950 SP and the SP does feel a bit different and rides better IMHO! The SP with this paint job would have been sick!!
I’d definitely pay for the paint job although I don’t particularly like the half & half wheels, would prefer either all red or all black (but they wouldn’t put me off the RVE)
I like it, especially the red accent on the wheels, but I think it will start to look dated pretty quickly. Wouldn’t be my choice but fun to see nonetheless. Might see if I can score a set of those red wheel decals for my SP however. Nice review!
Love this bike and in standard format for me as think it looks more classy. You need to be a damn good rider to own one of these in my opinion, as not the sort of bike you can half ride. Dare 2 dream😉
LloydGrace1 so agreed. I have a ktm 950 and a friend of mine has the 939 hypermotard. You just can’t help yourself just giving max throttle and the feeling you need to hold on tight is amazing 😄
I like the bike its different but I have always loved the hypers I have the 1100s and its a blast. I duno about those half painted wheels doesnt do much for me all black would go better personally i think. But about time on the rest of the paint ducati!
Exactly my friend. If I talk too strongly that guy on the other channel will ban me as in the army guy. Anyway I traded my 2019 Triumph for the 2021-22 T120 Matt Black / Graphite gold line series. Yes you are correct, a classical vintage per se. Does not handle like yours I have to admit that. Often I comment on the classical bike channels. Merry Xmas & a happy new year to you Kanwan. It's for fun - they call it a "hooligan" bike. The idea is you wheelie everywhere, carve-up corners, do stoppies and make a general nuisance of yourself. It's not a commuter or tourer - it for straight-up fun. You can take them to a track but the RR's will kill you because of suspension and set-up - but that's not the point.
Can ANYONE please explain to me WHY Ducati call 1000cc (or in this area) a “mid class” bike? Litre bikes was always considered Litre bikes and 600cc to 850cc mid class???
This "litre bike" term is a Japanese hype word came from the gentleman agreement between Japanese bike makers. since the japanese bike makers don't like competition, they decided together that their most powerful biker are 1000cc inline4 that's why their bikes are almost identical. Ducati and the rest of European and American bike makers followed their own philosophy. This 950 twin is more powerful than similar CCed japanese Twin.
All good answers guys... but we’re in the 20’s now, not the 70’s or 80’s (so even putting “legacy” aside) Ducati need to fall back in line with current standards and terms! OR maybe they don’t!? 😆
Trouble with these is the small tank. A 950 is going to gobble up fuel at a huge rate. Considering this is an ideal machine for town and suburbs you'd be in the petrol station every other day if used for commuting so a bigger tank and an engine no bigger than 800 would be more usable, I mean 950...thats alot of engine when in the real world you'd never use half that power. Don't get me wrong, it's fabulous, what a tool.. But I'd like to use more power of as lesser C. C. engine and give me as tank with a couple of ltrs more.
I recently test rode the Hyper and I was let down. Not because it's a bad bike, it isn't, I was just expecting it to feel like a big supermoto, but instead it felt like just another naked bike. If you want supermoto handling and lightness, you should but an actual supermoto, not this bike...
It would have been a better review if you had actually ridden the moto you are reviewing. This is a more like a polished brochure review. Ride the bike damn it.
I don't know how old you are but I'm 57 and ride an 2009 1100 hypermotard everyday on my commute from Santa Cruz to San Jose in Cali. If you are familiar with Hwy 17 then you know it's the perfect commute bike for this road. Yes I ride like I'm late for work everyday but I can't help it the bike was made for that.
Cool and all, but its a sport bike with motard styling. It be nice if they actually created a true supermoto rather than adding lipstick to the last one. These bikes are 95% sport bikes.
H701, K690 if you want big, S400 if you want fun. Ducati are nowhere off-road (Sled maybe - but not really) - this is not supposed to be a SM - more a tall, hooligan naked for moto-silliness.
No it ain't. The KTM has reliability issues like most KTM's. And this looks so much better with a superior fit and finish and build quality. 950 makes more low down torque.
This guy has a really nice voice for videos like these
Why thank you CHD!
Almost hypnotising. I can imagine sitting by a fireplace and playing his youtube videos just to calm down.
I love this paint scheme, no question between choosing this or the standard. Speccing the standard with a quickshifter is probably 500$ anyway.
but tank capacity of rve is only 14,5l and standard is 16l
RVE paint job any day. If I was rolling in dough I'd trade my Monster in for one of these. Goes great looks great.
I would pay the extra for the paint and shifter. Looks like a lot of fun
If I was in the market for a hyper I’d definitely get the rve model.
I have a 2019 950 SP and while the RVE looks great, I’d still go for the SP.
Same , SP is just class
You have to pay €4000 more then, but I agree
This bike is perfect for me. Too many stiff Öhlins bikes already, but the base model looks too boring to buy.
Personally, I'd take this and a few mods. For the extra cost, I can buy carbon wheels which are lighter than the forged ones, and other than that, almost everything else is just things like carbon parts and a front mud guard.
Defo nicer but quite a few grand more so this is a good Compromise
I would take it in all black with red frame 👌🏻
I just like the black painted frame.
I have this on order. Still torn between a used 950 SP or this one. I test rode a standard HyperMotard 950 and 950 SP and the SP does feel a bit different and rides better IMHO! The SP with this paint job would have been sick!!
RVE looks awesome...😎🏍🌍🇬🇧
I did chose the standard 950 and will fit a quick shifter later on, what a bike!
The two tone color wheels would work with the standard paint job also.
I love the RVE paint scheme!
Definitely worth the extra cash to me.
I prefer the SP paintwork.
Classic Ducati red man
RVE all the way totally worth the money
Has to be the SP version. Not a fan of the split color wheels but the paint job is good.
I'd take the SP with that colour scheme!!!
Me too. Gorgeous colour scheme.
Nice Video ✌🏻
Beautiful bike
I’d definitely pay for the paint job although I don’t particularly like the half & half wheels, would prefer either all red or all black (but they wouldn’t put me off the RVE)
When it’s spinning it’s awesome
I wouldn’t mind having the standard with the RVE wheels.
I like it, especially the red accent on the wheels, but I think it will start to look dated pretty quickly. Wouldn’t be my choice but fun to see nonetheless. Might see if I can score a set of those red wheel decals for my SP however. Nice review!
My second bike!
The all red looks best, but i like tech.
RVE for me ! 😀👍🇬🇧🇬🇧

I want a hypermotard SP RVE
Should of keep the frame red
I will buy a 2020 Ktm Superduke but probably I will test this one too, maybe I change my mind...
The color is so sick r
I cant justify the SP now wich is almost 3k more. You have top notch looks qs and the same brutal motor.
I like the bike its different but I have always loved the hypers I have the 1100s and its a blast. I duno about those half painted wheels doesnt do much for me all black would go better personally i think. But about time on the rest of the paint ducati!
I really want one

Love this bike but i'm a shortarse so no chance of me having one!!Cracking review btw
RVE SP??
Rve for me looks boss 👌👍
Love it but in Australia it’s $23k
Can you shut off the abs on this model?
RVE any day.
I’m all about dat HYPEr
Does this one have a gas gauge?
Don’t think so, no
For real?
@@tylerdurden1923 Yes, for real
Why didnt they write Aprilia Dorsoduro on it ;)
What £500 when your spending 10k ! Go for it
id take it just for the wheels
I cant wait to drop this bike😂
I would have to try the Aprilia 900 first....
Dorsoduro is sexy as hell, good choice my man
@@tylerdurden1923 But well down on power compared to the Ducati. 95 hp v 114hp.
Guys, what is this bike for? It looks like Motocross and Naked street bike at the same time. Can someone explain for me? Thanks 😉
It's for fun - they call it a "hooligan" bike. The idea is you wheelie everywhere, carve-up corners, do stoppies and make a general nuisance of yourself. Andrew Boundy For Stun Bikers? 😆
It's a fun bike. Everyone that rides this bike loves it. I'd have one if I had the money.
RVE for sure! damn sexy
Can ANYONE please explain to me WHY Ducati call 1000cc (or in this area) a “mid class” bike? Litre bikes was always considered Litre bikes and 600cc to 850cc mid class???
It's because it's a L Twin as opposed to an inline 4 like most 600's so it takes more CC's to equate to a similar power range.
This bike has a lot more torque then a inline 4. Another good example is the superduke
Not always amigo. Back in the 70's and 80's, 800 was massive (900 on occasion), a 400-500 was mid and people thought 250's were fast.
All good answers guys... but we’re in the 20’s now, not the 70’s or 80’s (so even putting “legacy” aside) Ducati need to fall back in line with current standards and terms! OR maybe they don’t!? 😆
Nice
Good video but this 1 is not for me.

Correct. Range is a important feature.
Mine does240 kms a tank using reserve with 2 litres left, how far do you ride in one sitting? It’s a motard, not a GS
@@mikeharrison1071
I can't even make it to my moms house. Its 165 miles.
It's not a commuter or traveler - it for blasting around corners, wheelies and general hooliganism. This is your second bike - not your first.
@@mikeharrison1071 agreed, I think 240 kms per fill is more than enough, I never used to get much more out of my Fireblade between fills.
Of course the hypermotard 950 RVE better
I recently test rode the Hyper and I was let down. Not because it's a bad bike, it isn't, I was just expecting it to feel like a big supermoto, but instead it felt like just another naked bike. If you want supermoto handling and lightness, you should but an actual supermoto, not this bike...

Me likey!

looks like an aprilia
Yea, I was thinking SXV550 - had it for a few years, loooooved it but maintenance was a pita.
Why must i be so old?
It's a blessing many young men and women that did not receive the opportunity. E.G died at a young age.

Wheelies all day long
Turn off the wheelie control
701-SM is 100x more fun
Depends on what you want from a bike.

It's ok, I'll take the KTM 1290 over this.
Different class and loads more money.
