Hey Lynn! Thanks so much!!! The black paint I used is plain old apple barrel matte black craft paint. I got a 32 oz bottle on Amazon. It was $8.99. It’s nice just under $10. The key to it is you need a sealer. I used polycrylic by rust oleum. It’s on Amazon. It’s a matte finish, it doesn’t look shiny.

Thank you so much! I used Apple barrel Matte black paint from Amazon. It’s around $10 for 32 ounces. I have more than half left. Most importantly you need to put several coats of polycrylic by minwax. You will need that to seal the paint. I used spunge rollers to get a smooth finish. It’s really easy two day job with dry time and you have a totally different look. I painted my chair legs too.

Joan, I love your home! Just a thought/idea for you. In the dining room, you need a few taller , green or black or other items on the top shelf . It appears too light compared to the color snd weight of the lower shelves. You can’t see it until you see the wide shot. Just rearrange what you have already to distribute the visual weight. I’m not being critical, just an observation, keep on keepin on. I love your channel.

I love your style. I love how you paint things to make them compatible with your style. The only thing, and please don't take this wrong. The lamp shades in the living room,..I think it would look so much better if the shades were white with the black stones. As a retired designed I love how you did your beautiful home on a budget and it looks so elegant but most of all I love seeing you do what you love. You have proved that you don’t have to spend a lot to have a home you love. By thrifting you have a home that is not a cookie cutter. I love the mirrors in your dinning room. Had to subscribe .
Welcome! I went to design school back in the early 90’s. I wanted to be a designer so bad but Law enforcement was paying the bills. Lol. Now I’m retired and having fun with it. I’ve always believed in decorating on a budget, mixing high end with low end! I now believe in more on the low end with a little high end. Lol. Repurposing old items adds so much character!

A standard decorating tool is to group items (gallery walls, items on table tops, etc) in groups of odd numbers. Way too many of the same items every where, too much clutter for me. Nice color scheme.

Your place looks so good,you have done a wonderful job,i miss decorating,cleaning,cooking,baking,i can only type using my left thumb,i was a passenger in a wreck July 2005,it broke my neck,left scapula and shoulder so i'm paralyzed chest down but i'm happy,i have my 3 babies,granddaughter,husband,have a blessed night!
