I am amazed that that quilt only took Pam three months to do BY HAND! It would have taken me three YEARS. Everyone here needs to understand that if she were paid by the hour for such skilled labor, that quilt would cost thousands of dollars. I’m not exaggerating at all. People don’t realize how much time handwork takes. She probably spent most of her time working on it during those three months. It is an enormously generous gift.
Thank you! 😌 and yes I spent over eight hours everyday of those 3 months working on the quilt. It's my passion or obsession I don't know but, I love making everything by hand. 💙
@@pamelasorrells2187 oh wow, you're the Pam? That's some amazing work, and great work ethic. I'm embarrassed by all the unfinished crochet projects (and sewing projects) in my house, but inspired at the same time. 😅
I wasn't expecting this video to make me emotional 🥺 I guess it's because having a nice home has always been my dream since I was a little girl. I grew up in public housing apartments with 9 siblings, and I used to imagine what it would be like to have my own room to decorate any way I wanted. Having a safe and loving space to call your own is a true gift. Thank you for sharing this with us, Rajiv
Crystal, you can begin anywhere you are. I know exactly how you feel, I was in the same situation almost, we had a house, but we had poverty, spiritual poverty and emotional and financial poverty; bare walls and rooms and no one shared my desire. But I wanted a beautiful place even then and I have made it happen everywhere I've moved, even to N. Africa, and now I am retired and I still work to have a little home that surrounds me with beauty and makes me feel beloved. You will, too! And like Rajiv, you will hate to leave! You can, too!
I’m rooting for you, Crystal. I’m sure you’ll create it as it is such a heartfelt wish. And Rochelle above here is right, you can start now and just style one little piece of a windowsill or a small bedside table or something, with stuff you found that you like. Or one little box with loved things.
I look forward to a time when god will get rid of all the wicked and bring peace to this earth, and he promises that we will live in a paradise where nobody will harm us and only righteousness We'll be there. I would like to share a scripture with you Psalms 37: 9, 10, 11, 29 Revelation 21: 3, 4 God is my hope and many other scriptures. Tell us that God is loving and he will give us our home that we have always desired. He said that he will Satisfied the needs of everyone. I lost my home after my mother died and my father died by the time I was nineteen because a crooked lawyer took two acres of my land that was will to me and my house and I lost everything to his dishonesty and I became a homeless. Two acres apple trees cherry trees overlooking a lake. A garden a beautiful piece of land. You can have everything growing up. And then you can have a disaster happen to you and you become homeless. So I know what you're talking about. Better things are to come.
That is because at the core of his teaching is the great lesson of gratitude...not just for the big things in life but especially for the small things! The way a lace curtain moves in the breeze and the way our food looks in sparkling glass canisters can overwhelm us with gratitude that we can see the sky and that we have food to eat. It doesn't take much to thrill a mindfully heart! ❤️🙏❤️
In another video Rajiv explained that he made the mirror while in high school but had forgotten about. A friend had it and gave it to him when he asked where she got that. Maybe you can check with him, it would be nice if your father actually made it!
I laughed out loud when he said this is why I have no friends. Because while I have so much admiration for the way he keeps his home, as a wife and mom, I was thinking you’d have to live alone or really be on the same page as your partner to do this. I fight daily to get everyone to take their shoes off in the house, or at least keep them off of furniture 😂 I just love Rajiv. I’d be your friend, and hang out at your house!
You gotta continue to be what matters to you and nourish the deep soul joy of living you love, no matter how your kids or partner responds. I grew up with parents like Rajiv, and I am, as an adult, like him, even when I can not seem to show those feelings because of what is happening around me, I still feel the joy my parents felt and feel about the little “moments in the material”. Sometimes a half lifetime was required for me to understand what one of my parents meant. You will have an impact by following your bliss. ☺️And most importantly, when you love what makes you feel love, you are doing life right. *Also, my opinion was not asked for, thus take or leave any of what I said above. I just want you to know you are seen sweet Momma. You are you, and you are magical no matter what.
@@madisonabbott1898 This was a very sweet reply! Thank you! It was helpful to hear the appreciation you have for your parents even if it took you a long time to understand some of the things they meant!
Why is this so difficult? Oh, I get it, my son objected CONSTANTLY when he, as an adult, was expected to remove his shoes when he came into my home. It was no different when he was growing up. He evidently thought it would somehow be different (?!?!) when he became an adult and would visit me. It’s not complicated. Number one it’s about cleanliness. Number two it is all about RESPECT. I never demanded respect, I quietly expected respect. If I wasn’t treated with the respect I felt was due to the person who cleaned up, fed and clothed those children there were ramifications. If I didn’t have respect they were treated likewise. I didn’t feel this way as a young adult but a VERY WISE woman taught me this and it became part of me. Essential. Children can’t learn to respect anyone (including themselves) or anything if they have not learned it first at home. Like many things in American life, this is one of the good things we threw out ‘with the bath water’ and we have been paying for it as a society ever since. You DESERVE to be treated with respect. If they don’t mind you in regards their shoes, make their shoes disappear for a day or two and DO NOT give in. It it needs repeating do so until the message sinks in. They will not respect you unless you respect yourself Dear.
The person who owns that apartment should be honoured to have had you as a tenant for the last ten years. You’ve made it a stunning home. I can see why you love it so much. ❤
As a retired interior designer I respect your art. You are an artist living the life of a true artist. Your space is imbued with love and light, and I enjoyed your journey and that marvellous quilt. May you live to a ripe old age because people like you make the world a better place. Greetings from Ireland.
As a real true fan of RS website I'm also a interior designer and decorator and that's 2 different types of elements of interior design.... If you recommend a wall color to a single person please let them know that if they decide to choose flat paint they should consider their lifestyle because it's a very picky texture for walls and I ( used to prescreen my ( PCD ) my previous company ) they should consider if they have an active lifestyle and when you customize their lifestyle inside of the home 🏠 it should reflect how many people and what they're going to do inside their home daily
So I’ve only watched a few of the videos.. but what a special person! Every now and then you come across someone who just seems.. greater than. They project so much positivity, calmness, artistic flair and most of all GENUINENESS that they rise above the day-to-day silliness that most of us spend our days muddled in. What a pleasure it is to listen and learn from a soul like that. Thank you for being you, Rajiv.
Just discovered your channel today. My home was built in 1906 and the oak woodwork, with the exception of one bedroom, has never been painted. I love my home but, due to my advanced age, began giving away things not used or, needed any longer. During the process I started to see my home in new ways and have begun to appreciate it's grace and beauty even more. You have inspired me to move things about and right now I am folding my basket of neck scarves after seeing your basket of kitchen towels. Looking forward to more of your videos and your gentle ways.
Dear Rajiv. This home tour is both thoughtful and inspirational. It feels like a love letter to the place that shelters you. To curate our spaces and homes does indeed imbue it with our essences which both nurtures us and welcomes those that we invite to enter. Thank you for sharing and welcoming us into your home.
Absolutely. Also love the fact that this has been ten years in the making... there is no rush or timeline in this mindset. I sometimes feel frustrated that I have lived in my duplex for a year and it is not really what I want. But time and budget sometimes require patience. I DO have a file full of images, and thoughts on the ideal place (even the ideal "way to live each day" that is honestly more aspirational!)
Looking at Rajiv just speak is a beautiful display of restraint. His lips, the way he talks with all of his mouth, enunciating each word calmly and seemingly innate. He’s a person who identifies and admires the beauty in everyday things. His striking good looks don’t hurt either…
I talk to my house. I tell it to be safe and take care of the cats while I’m out. I thank it for keeping us safe and dry during storms. And I promise it that I will do various tasks for it haha. Nothing wrong with vocalizing your appreciation for your home! Words have power
I loved your video. What struck me the most was hearing you say you talk to your home. It has been my custom for years to say 'Hello House' when I return. My greeting is a short prayer of thankfulness, for a safe return, for shelter, etc.
Rajiv is the human embodiment of the Renaissance in every way possible. What a man, what a man ❤ The way he takes us into his world and inspires even more beauty, culture and the love of craftsmanship, which is exactly what this world needs. It's people like him, and us, that make this world an even more beautiful place, people. Let's celebrate that and keep on sharing the love for beauty!
Rajiv, I have the same feeling about my little space. Home is peace and joy. I speak with my plants, my neibors love them, seeing through my windows blooming all year. One day I said to a plant: oh! I'm so sorry! I was too busy and I left you without water! The plant had lost its leaves. The day after, I woke up, the plant without leaves gave me a flower as an answer!!!! All have energy. It's important the welcoming when we bring something new, cleaning and be grateful for each object, their beauty and help. Thank you for being and inspiration and sharing your friend called Home!!!
When you said, "This is why I have no friends," man, I felt that. There are so many ways and things that give me comfort, peace, and joy that no one else understands. But I'm learning to cherish what sets me apart. I don't want to fit in a box.
This has strong Mr. Rogers vibes!! How amazing would a Mr. Rajiv show be for kids!? The soothing music, calm tones, simple life lessons, warm aesthetics... it would be so spot on!
That Sari quilt made me emotional. I have now watching about 2 to 3 hours of just Rajiv's content and I, just, wow. The amount of respect and joy he has for something hand made. I am not surprised someone reached out to him if I were any good at anything I would be reaching out too because he what my fibre friends would call 'Knit Worthy'. I truly don't think I have met anyone more knit worthy than this man. You can tell he treasures every single piece that is made for him like an appreciative dragon or a museum curator.
This is the best, most honest home decor/apartment living video I've ever seen. The title and cover made me think it was one of those fast paced, quick tips, sponsored videos that make you feel agitated afterwards and make you rush to the store. Instead, I found this joy, peaceful ambiance, perfect while I was sipping my tea after a nap. Thank you for sharing the space with us.
Pam, your quilt is spectacular. When I turned 40 my mom gave me a one piece quilt kit with blue markings that would wash away with water, with a backing and batting , all in 100% cotton. It took me till I turned 45 to finish it, entirely hand stitching the patterns and binding. I’ve had it for 21 years and have used and loved it so much. I can’t believe you made that quilt for Rajiv so quickly. What an amazing gift.
Thank you! I’ve been at quilting for almost 40yr. and it’s obsession or passion that makes me work on one project at a time, and I usually spend at least 8hrs. a day working at making a quilt until I’ve finished!
"This is why I have no friends..." haha! I love it, my friend! That cracked me up!! There's a lot of things in my home that makes me say the same but it's not well organized stuff like yours. Regardless, thank you for the beautiful tour of your home, it was like walking through a museum, you presented it well! Cheers to you!
I think real “adulthood” and maturity encompasses the acceptance of the patience involved in selecting the paint color for a room. My lord is it a pain in the ass but it’s also so good when the outcome is exactly what you were looking for.
I can't express how much I LOVE Rajiv! He is such a beautiful and inspirational person! I love how he moves through life and outlook on the world. Could hear him talk ALL day! He is pure magic :)
I cannot imagine anyone watching your videos not coming out of it a better informed person, a richer person, or a more peaceful person. Thank you Rajiv! LOVE, LOVE your videos, and seeing your thought processes, your life, and knowing there are still so many wonderful people in this world, no matter what D.C. spews out from some. You are a blessing, indeed. Looking forward to a video where you shop an antique or thrift store. Loved your previous one.
Oh boy… let me go get more coffee…. This will be good. It was more than good, it was priceless. Rajiv, I watch your videos and it feels like every cell in my body is attentive and hopeful. And, when the video ends WE, all of us in this body, are energized! Be well my friend.
I have recently become acquainted with your videos. What a wonderful gift you give to the world. Your kind and gentle nature shines through. I am 72 years old and most of my life is behind me. I learn something everytime I view your videos. I have a degree in interior design, and feel that you embody what a designer should be. Spaces should be the reflection of the client, not the designer. You got it right. ❤ Such love goes into everything you do. You are so inspiring. Wishing you love and peace.
Don’t know how I clicked on this video. It was so soothing to watch you explain everything. A long long time ago, before I was married, I had an adorable apartment like this. I replaced so much and updated it too even though I was renting it. The landlord was so appreciative. I even wallpapered the kitchen 🤣. It was so lovely coming home to that apartment every single time. 😊 To this day, it’s still warms my soul thinking about it.
@@ix1628 Well, I continued my “bloom where you are planted” attitude everywhere I’ve lived since. We currently are in Southern California now and loving it. Our home here is always evolving and we were fortunate enough to build a little rental vacation property that we rent out on airbnb. I’ve gone over the top (of course) and all guests love it.
It was really validating to hear you say how much you love your apartment. I, too, say goodbye to my place every time I leave out of town and I greet it so happily upon return. I am moving out of mine soon and my family wants to help me by packing it up while I'm gone on a big business trip that I had to rush out to. They think it's frivolous that I want them to leave it alone so I can give it a proper goodbye when I return and pack it up myself. When you've created a magical space, it becomes a living entity of a kind. ♥
The soul part resonates. I'm a physician that does home visits and seeing elder patient's in their home is like an extension of their personalties with their furniture and pictures and paintings.
I haven’t felt this understood as a human being in a long time…❤ How I organised and decorated my tiny space makes me gawk blissfully every morning!! ☺️ I just wanted to fulfil my desire for art and beauty from within and I’m so proud of myself.
I love my house and the home we have made. I am a collector of things too. We had to evacuate once during a bad brush fire near our home. When we returned we didn't know if the house would still be standing. My husband broke down in tears and said, "oh thank God, the house was so scared! I didn't know he loved it so much. Gee, but it's great to be back home.
Rajiv, your videos have helped me curate my apartment in Louisville, thrifting at local vintage stores (which you've experienced!). I've started my own journey into oil-painting, and have chalkboard walls, brick walls, fun walls! Your videos are very meditative, they give me a direction to move in, so just wanted to say "hi!".
@@rajivsurendra Haha, have lots of little knick-knacks from the indie shops around Nanny Goat Strut! Moved here from Boston last year, fell in love with the all the little vinyl-shops, antique-shops, bookstores, etc. Such a hidden gem!
Hey I live in Louisville too! 😃 Kentucky, that is (not Colorado). My usual round of antique/flea/consignment shops in the 502 include: Redefine Design on the Avenue Prospect Treasures Consignments Plus Fleur de Flea Louisville Antique Market Shop of Shops Mellwood Antiques & Interiors
Dear Rajiv, You have defined what makes a house a home. The peace and reverence of each item is palpable. The beautiful quilt made my eyes fill with tears. How she is able to be precision-focused with each loving stitch, tugged at my heart. It's like a painting that should be hung up and admired. You are blessed to know Pam Sorrells and she to know you. You are so generous in inviting us to catch a glimpse of your home. Bonnie Charlie, the cane love seat, and the kitchen painted in yellow which matches your yelloware bowls. Opening the pantry with jars of glass and zinc was so great. Your description of the chilli jar housing them, made my mouth water the hotter the better). "Deadly", made me lol. The watercolored portfolio, used as a reference to you, is priceless. Honoring your Mother in a painting in your bedroom above your bed with nothing competing with her image, no words can describe its impact. Blessing to you always, please do not close the door to us, for I would so miss it. Sincerely, Jersey Ann from NJ 🙂
Jersey Ann from N.J. Your words are beautiful and express so well the appreciation I also feel watching Rajiv’s video. I also appreciate the talent in your expression ❤ Keep sharing joy, it’s uplifting, and thank you for your comment.
If I’m having a bad day struggling with anxiety, I’ll watch any video of yours and it instantly calms me. Not only is your home magical but so are you 🪄
this was beautiful! i’m slowly building a better relationship with my space… my mental health has been a factor and it’s like a viscous cycle. i truly believe that our spaces have a huge impact on how we go about the world. if we have no safe space, our minds will never be at rest. thank you for this reminder ♥️
🇺🇲 Hand quitting and sewing our clothes, curtains, etc. My grandmother taught me how to sew my bed sheets. Without a pattern. is something that has been passed down on both sides of my family. I still sew. But I have not hand quilted in so many many years. 💖🌟💖
I love the story about your building, and I salute that wonderfully, stubborn woman! Oh, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with renting a home! People often talk about it like it's a "lesser" thing, but as long as you have a mortgage, you still don't truly own your home, and there are many perks to renting (especially maintenance, although that might depend on where you live). I saw your earlier apartment tour, and I really enjoyed seeing the differences between the two, how you keep making changes to your apartment, like the walls, to fit your current taste. Those touches elevates a house and makes it into a home. However, I do always wonder, especially with smaller apartments, like this one appears to be, where do you put things like the vacuum cleaner, do you have a washing machine, etc? Do you really sit, for hours, days on end, on one of those chairs while working (I hate my office chair, my back loves it). And is that the same table/space where your would have dinner parties (it's in your bedroom, right?)? I am Dutch and I have lived in smaller apartments (what a lot of Americans would consider tiny) for most of my life. Funny thing is, I am currently moving from my biggest-small apartment to the smallest apartment I have probably ever lived in! I am moving to an apartment that is 35m2 (even for Dutch standards that is considered small!), and I have absolutely no trouble filling it with things that I find beautiful, on the contrary, I need to learn that I can't keep everything that I find beautiful, or that I am attached to (I do not want a storage box), especially since I really enjoy switching out things! *However*, I do have an issue with the things that I know to be useful (like the washing machine (no laundromats here), the drying rack (no dryer), or the vacuum cleaner) but are big and remain ugly, that I have trouble with! I would love an "alternative" house tour, to see the nitty-gritty, of these often not-so-pretty, but necessary things, incorporated into a small apartment. Thank you for sharing, and I am very happy you have found the place where you can be yourself and be, truly, at home..
What I noticed about watching Rajiv’s videos is he actually takes the time to feel if something is right for him. Rajiv, thank you for reminding me that it is okay to slow down in this fast moving world to listen to my inner voice ♥
Conversing with my home sweet home that provides shelter, is an anchor, a heaven of peace and a warm hugging welcome seems justified, logical, polite and, to me, always feels very reassuring.
7:47- this was such a profound moment and we got a glimpse at how much these 2 women have left their mark on you. You are extraordinary never forget this🙌
Rajiv, someone did an amazing job raising you to be the man you are. Kindness and gratefulness shine from you. Thank you for these beautiful videos. Well done!
I’m in love with the chalkboard slates. They sing with nostalgia and nothing else could give me that “ I’m home, I’m safe” feeling. Beautiful and unique.
I cannot tear my eyes or ears away from your videos even for one minute! Your content is such a gift and a treasure! Thank you for your beautiful work!
It's early in the morning, and I've just walked thru my home to make sure everything is perfect for guests after brunch today. I had some extra time, so I decided to spend it with you. I love my space and everything in it, but often, don't take the time to appreciate it with the chaos of life. This morning, after watching your video, I had a moment. I am so blessed. Inspired, I'm off to the market for flowers and I'll come home and light a candle so that the delicate sent lingers for guests (and for me). Little things to "thank" the house, if you will, for bringing me such joy. Thank you for the reminder.
Love the simple painting on the inside of your closet door, such a lovely little touch! We spend so much time looking at closets it makes sense to add art inside
Rajiv, you have many thousands of friends, it’s just that some f us, you haven’t met yet, but we all understand the pleasure your home gives not only to you, but (vicariously perhaps) to us too. Thank you for sharing the joy with us. Love from Annie, in Cornwall, UK.🙂🌸
"ah! Look how nice this looks..." This intro really struck a chord with me. I struggle with making my home "me" and today I finally got a chance to step back and see the things that I do love, instead of only seeing the clutter. A wonderful starting point to my day ❤ I can't wait to own a piece of your art!
Just the way you talk about the process of painting tells a lot about how you think. I feel like a lot of us a scared of having a house that looks incomplete, but it really does take work, effort and time to make something worth while. We’re so used to seeing the end product we never consider all the steps in the process.
Hi Rajeev, As a Bengali I have lots of lovely saris and have made curtain panels out of a couple. But the quilt was out of this world ! Another thing that I thought I would share is the way I choose paint for a room. I grab a large sheet of paper and say I want green, then I use my water colors to create just the exact shade I want for the wall and then tape the paper to the wall and see how it looks from day to day. Once I have the shade I go to my local sherwin williams paint store and then find the shade that matches mine and have them mix it up for me. So it is just the reverse of your stategy ! Whatever works, right ? Anyway, love watching your videos and do stop by and say Hi when you are in Madison, WI.
Rajiv, if I could talk to your Mom and Dad, I’d thank them for bringing you into the world. Your videos help enrich my life and (I’m certain) the lives and many, many others ❤️
I saw your clip with a Shoemaker in Florence. I saw it to the end. I instantly realised you are a pure artiste down to your bone marrow. Wish to know more about you, and your life in Manhattan. Have a nice day and God Bless. - GD
Whenever life feels too fast and too stressful, coming back to Rajiv's videos always makes me feel better. Seeing this beautiful person talk with so much love about the things around him is so healing. I want to see life the with the same eyes as Rajiv does ❤
Watching you go through those watercolor paintings brought back such a sweet memory. I once had an online store where I sold original artworks. While cleaning my office, I threw away many unsold or unfinished pieces that had accumulated over time. A few years later I was helping my teenage daughter declutter her room and I found all of my old paintings under her bed. She had went through the garbage without me ever knowing and kept her favorites in a little leather briefcase similar to your croc one. It was sweet going through those paintings, telling her the stories behind each one, seeing how much she valued them. ❤
So inspiring. Love watching you with my 83yo Mom who thinks you are just “dreamy”. Thank you for your thoughtful and purposeful content. We’ll keep watching.
I think it’s been two years since I saw your house tour on the HGTV Handmade video on YT. It’s so nice to see the changes and what is still the same. It’s really lovely.
I L❣️VE people who take care of their stuff! Thanks Rajiv. All my stuff was stolen this last year by my relatives - true story but not for a comment ... It feels nice to see someone who loves his space and look after his things. Sending good wishes your way!
Rajiv, I remember watching your apartment tour on HGtv I’m glad to see that you have your own channel. I love how you get into details of everything & your appreciation of antiquities mixed in with the new, the beautiful quilt Pam made, the story of the lady & her lot. It’s so peaceful & relaxing to watch & listen to you. 🌸
I think your home is magical because you are. Your apartment does not just look beautiful, like you, but it is inviting because I know so many interesting things actually happen in this space. It is both peaceful and super alive.
Rajiv, I hope you have a label on that gorgeous quilt! The story of it being made by someone totally by hand of such special fabrics which have immense meaning for you should be put on a label with its completion date!! Quilts can last for decades longer than our earthly lives and having them identifiable is of historical significance to future generations!
I don't live with things thinking about where they're going to go after I die. This is how things get saved, never used, and then end up in a thrift store after its owner is dead. I use Pam's quilt every day, and that makes me happy. But Pam did sign the quilt in black felt-tipped pen with her name and date!
@@rajivsurendra that’s awesome! And you are so right in using the quilt daily! They’re made to be used! Think about this, if we don’t write down our history, who will? If it only matters to one person, it’s worth the effort! You love going to museums, but someone had to think about the future before a museum can even have exhibits to show! Just food for thought! Love your videos! Keep them coming! 🥰
This is my favorite video on your channel so far. I took in everything and by the end, I became emotional. Now that I know more about your home and how it is a part of you, I’m even more in awe. The most beautiful home I’ve ever seen because it is truly loved, appreciated and decorated in a thoughtful, meaningful manner. Who knew a home could tell so much about one’s life? Thank you. ❤️
Hi Rajiv. Just wanted to thank you for this beautiful tour and your gentle encouragement. It was such a pleasure meeting you yesterday as well. I’m truly thankful for your generous sharing of your knowledge. That is the highest level of human purpose, in my opinion. ❤
Can't help but notice the 'Kadiyam' on both hands. They look majestic and really good on you. Nobody wears them on a day to day basis. I only see them on men's hands in old paintings especially on the hands of a Rich Indian. Love how intact you are with your roots. A true inspiration.
Hello Rajiv, thank you for sharing your home with us. I recently moved to Europe and had to leave a house I loved with all my heart, and now I struggle to bring energy and love to my new apartment. Your videos inspire us to live and enhance our homes. Thank you for your work!
Rajiv, your teachers must love you - you are so dedicated and committed! Your paintings are just gorgeous. You are quite an inspiration, as has Marie Kondo been! It's always lovely to see you - and I'm so glad to see that you have your own channel now!
The sari quilt idea is absolutely beautiful. When I traveled to India years ago, I bought beautiful silk fabrics at a sari fabric store in Delhi, and upholstered my dining room chairs with them. For each chair I used a different fabric. Total cost: $50. ❤❤❤
I loved seeing your quilt made from your moms and grandmothers saris! Such a beautiful, traditional heirloom full of personal meaning! I am a quilter, as is my mother. My home is my art gallery for many fabulous quilts!❤❤❤
OMG! That quilt!!! So special and beautiful, Pam! I can't imagine there is anyone who would appreciate your work more than Rajiv. Rajiv, I know everyone says this, but you are an inspiration and such a lovely human. Thank you for letting us into your home and life.
I am preparing to leave my 1920s Boston apartment after 6 years, and your “Hello, the house” made me emotional. My window moldings have the same soft curves from dozens of layers of paint, and the little onion-pointed arch leading from hallway to the living room makes me happy every time I see it. I truly love this apartment and I know it loves me. We have taken good care of each other. Leaving it to go to a newer apartment complex is going to be deeply hard for me.
Sublime video. Such a pleasure to watch. All those treasures. I look around my lounge to see the “one thing” and see it’s perhaps a bit too busy, but maybe not; I have a huge bay window (~ 12 ft tall) and I think that’s it. It’s the light. Along with my Swiss cheese plant that is now so big I can’t easily move it. My old brown leather armchair nestles between huge fenestrated leaves. It’s an ecosystem in itself. And I adore your kitchen. I used to dream of a big luxury kitchen but now I yearn for a kitchen like yours, compact but perfectly functional and so beautiful. Old, used but lovingly cared for objects. Bliss.
Everything about this video is magic, earth , spirituality, nature and art. I wish everyone lived in beautiful spaces like this , where every object has a meaning
I’m a simplistic country style. My walls are a creamy buttery color with white trims on floor, chair rail, windows, doors and crown moldings. My colors come from the furnishings and decor. My house is bright and light even on cloudy stormy days. This reflects me to a T! Yet… I love your home in that every inch of it tells a story, generates its own interest and fosters a longer look and reflection.
Rajiv, I just discovered your channel two days ago. You are a delight to watch! I pick up a great idea or a better way to do a particular task every time I watch a new video. Your personality is so wonderful. Your friends and family must be so delighted that you are in their lives. Thank you for creating fantastic content. You bring joy to my day every time I watch one of your videos!! ❤
I personally like small homes. They're simpler to decorate, clean and be in, especially when we don't overcrowd the spaces and utilise it wisely. That's what you've done, Rajiv. You've curated an harmonious, curiosity place filled with meaning and beauty. Our home is small and really cute. Many people comment favourably, and then I point out the shabby paintwork. 😁 Funnily enough, they don't even notice it! I also KonMari'd our home, and it's a joy to open drawers and see every item without the need to rummage around. I still have a way to go before I keep it dust-free but my intention is very soon, to pack lots of pieces away so that dusting no longer feels like a chore. Watching this vlog has inspired me to get going on that. 🙏🏻 Love, Jacqueline from New Zealand 💙
I have always said goodbye to my home when leaving on a trip. I think I picked that up from my Mom. She would say goodbye to our campsite the last day of vacation and thank it for the wonderful time we had.
👋👋Just like you, I have the habit of greeting my home when I enter and saying goodbye to it when I leave!😌 I love my sweet home and the people I share it with!🏡💞🍀
I am amazed that that quilt only took Pam three months to do BY HAND!

It made me emotional too....almost immediately. I wasn't expecting it either!
Your space is already beautiful because you have deep appreciation for it.
I would like to share a scripture with you
Psalms 37: 9, 10, 11, 29
Revelation 21: 3, 4
God is my hope and many other scriptures.
He’s literally the kind of person that you just crave being around, like ALL THE TIME.
I am weeping. This man, his apartment and his philosophy are healing me. DEEPLY.
I understand ♡♡♡♡♡ what's not to love about this Darling creative and inspirational being ❤
That is because at the core of his teaching is the great lesson of gratitude...not just for the big things in life but especially for the small things! The way a lace curtain moves in the breeze and the way our food looks in sparkling glass canisters can overwhelm us with gratitude that we can see the sky and that we have food to eat. It doesn't take much to thrill a mindfully heart! ❤️🙏❤️
@@robinholbrook6576 Well put!
Sending you a healing hug! It’s okay. Let the tears flow.
I used to work with his mom for a few years but never knew her son was magical 🌹
I think my dad may have made that mirror in your kitchen. He lived in Ct. and his initials are DCF.
that is so cool! what a coincidence 😱
❤
That's so cool!
If your dad is still living you should show him this video and ask him if he made it
In another video Rajiv explained that he made the mirror while in high school but had forgotten about.
Happy to share this timeline on Earth with you Rajiv. You’re a magical old soul living and teaching mindfulness and beauty.

You are never retired it's a blessing to know how to use your creative blessings
Love you from New Orleans...!

Your lovely comment says a lot about you as well. You know... takes one to know one. 🌻
I agree refreshing to see someone these days appreciate art and the beauty of things😊
I commend you, well said!
So beautifully and eloquently said. Bravo.
My sentiments exactly.
Love your work Rajiv ❤

Love the way this was expressed
Looking at Rajiv just speak is a beautiful display of restraint. His lips, the way he talks with all of his mouth, enunciating each word calmly and seemingly innate. He’s a person who identifies and admires the beauty in everyday things. His striking good looks don’t hurt either…
I talk to my house. I tell it to be safe and take care of the cats while I’m out. I thank it for keeping us safe and dry during storms. And I promise it that I will do various tasks for it haha. Nothing wrong with vocalizing your appreciation for your home! Words have power
My husband just said; “He is the Mr Rogers of home decor”. Is t that sweet? And accurate!
I loved your video. What struck me the most was hearing you say you talk to your home. It has been my custom for years to say 'Hello House' when I return. My greeting is a short prayer of thankfulness, for a safe return, for shelter, etc.

That sounds so lovely and is my goal right now. Can I ask what happened after you got married?
I agree with you

Lol yes - this is true!
I see how he strategically placed that vase so that branch on the painting looks like it's coming out of it. Sweet. :)
What I noticed about watching Rajiv’s videos is he actually takes the time to feel if something is right for him. Rajiv, thank you for reminding me that it is okay to slow down in this fast moving world to listen to my inner voice ♥

Home is sacred. Your home is lovingly cared for, you appreciate it. This is a beautiful thing.

"ah! Look how nice this looks..." This intro really struck a chord with me.
I teared up when he unfolded the quilt.
The meaning, and the beauty of the back, equal to the front.
Thank you!😌
Wish I could hit the like button everytime I've watched this video.
I love hearing the story of why there is a window in front of Rajiv's desk.
I like that idea very much. Thanks. So much more effective than a swatch which is too small to know the bigger picture.
Your paint advice is brilliant
Rajiv, if I could talk to your Mom and Dad, I’d thank them for bringing you into the world. Your videos help enrich my life and (I’m certain) the lives and many, many others ❤️

What a lovely story you made me cry 😭😭😭
Thank you!😌
I just know I'll be rewatching this video constantly! Love the thoughts behind your beautiful curated space 💗💗
I love how Rajiv is so daringly creative. Each element in that apartment weaves seamlessly.
Wow, i dont know how the algorithms brought me here but what an enlightening video. ❤
Thank you. ❤️
Rajiv, we are your friends! ❤ The quilt is built of love and is priceless. I imagine it feels like the best hug ever. 😊
Thank you!☺️
Hi Rajiv. Just wanted to thank you for this beautiful tour and your gentle encouragement. It was such a pleasure meeting you yesterday as well. I’m truly thankful for your generous sharing of your knowledge. That is the highest level of human purpose, in my opinion. ❤
Lovely to meet you too, Lauren! Thank you!
Thank you!😌
I loved seeing your quilt made from your moms and grandmothers saris! Such a beautiful, traditional heirloom full of personal meaning! I am a quilter, as is my mother. My home is my art gallery for many fabulous quilts!❤❤❤
Thank you!☺️
OMG! That quilt!!! So special and beautiful, Pam! I can't imagine there is anyone who would appreciate your work more than Rajiv.
Rajiv, I know everyone says this, but you are an inspiration and such a lovely human. Thank you for letting us into your home and life.
Thank you! 😌
Rajiv…I seriously doubt there is anyone on this planet that is as delightful and funny as you are. Thank you for another relaxing, inspiring video. 💕
Wrong. I'm funnier. Way funnier
Your place is beautiful . But the stories you tell are very interesting and meaningful and this is a joy for me to listen to them.
Love, Jacqueline from New Zealand 💙
I really like the way you look at non living objects and make them come alive Rajiv. Your space is heavenly and I can see how happy it makes you. 🙂
I have always said goodbye to my home when leaving on a trip. I think I picked that up from my Mom. She would say goodbye to our campsite the last day of vacation and thank it for the wonderful time we had.
👋👋Just like you, I have the habit of greeting my home when I enter and saying goodbye to it when I leave!😌 I love my sweet home and the people I share it with!🏡💞🍀
Thanks for watching!
