I bought the Subaru in hopes that I could turn it into a Stealth Car Camper so I decided that today is the day I have 5 hours to build a stealth car camper and go stealth camping at Walmart. If all goes well I wake up in the morning after my stealth camping up in northern Maine and head out on the lake for a catch and cook to finish of the adventure.

@@paulwatson4176 apparantly they broke canadian law by fishing in a protected lake. They only went on that lake cause it looked cool it was within a mile of lakes that were fine, and seemingly connected. Its complicated

There comes a point with all of these RUclipsrs loose sight of their Subscribers over their Sponsors and this channel is a prime example of it. Imagine your only job is to make RUclips videos and this is what you come up with LOLL.....BTW you mentioned the "30 day survival challenge" I know a DARK secret about that video, but your 100% right, there will never be another..

I do same thing in my Subaru Ascend on road trips, save money, not buying hotel room and get there sooner. Just sleep eat and drive. This blows mine away great job

My only problem would be that I would run out of fresh air really quickly. There has to be a way to crack open a window with the coverings still on or you'd end up with condensed windows too.

For the curtains I think the problem can be fixed with battons strips of wood set up with a little bit of bend to it when put in the window press the battons to the window so the spring will pop into the curve of the window

Stressful rush with all the time constraints. Not a bad build. None of those problems are anything joe can’t fix. That’s my advice for the windows. Joe Fowler will invent the best solution. You finally found a way to force Sarah to share sleeping quarters with you 😂for the tomatoes Zach. Use San marzano. Walmart is a handy store. I have always been really grossed out by the people shopping in pajamas.😂beautiful day for fishing. Nice taco salad by the way. Never tried cattlemens cut. I’m not sure we got that out here. That was fun and I'm glad to see some stealth camping with what our friend Steve Wallis is going threw this is a different kind of thing for Zach and Sarah but I loved it and definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of it hear and there but also I kinda miss the bushcraft stuff to maby a night in the yert in the woods do some hunting or something im sure Sarah would enjoy that to...either way outstanding video and I can't wait for the next one 😊

Yes. You can use reflectix insutlation to make your curtains and be warmer and they hold shape better.

Little suction cups. For your curtains. You can buy them at hobby lobby. They come with hooks, but you can just super glue them to the fabric and they will keep your curtains snug against your window.
we got about a gallon of cucumbers we made into pickles, made 1.56 gallons of grape jelly, 1.25 gallons of blackberry jelly, and were able to aquire a whole bunch of beef for less than $2 per lb
My dad turned are ice house into a little camper and for the windows he has little pieces of magnetic tape and magnets sewed into the curtains. Love the videos hopefully this helps.
I sure hope you two develop a lifelong relationship. As an older guy with a wife of 20+ years, I can see the beginning of a budding relationship, God willing.
To solve the window curtain issue. I would hot glue the magnets 🧲 to the inside of the car and put magnets on the curtain like you did. If you have polarization right, the magnets will snap in the same place every time. Also the hot glue shouldn’t destroy the interior, especially if you place them on the glass

For the windows, use "reflectix" cut to the window shape. Paint it black or glue on black fabric to make more stealth. I've been using this for car camping for years.

Cover some foam board (lightweight and shape of the window with “wings”) with your material and use earth magnets to attach to the inner metal of the hatchback.
Make window covers from reflectix covered in black fabric. This way they are rigid enough to sit flush up against the window. It will also act as a radiant heat barrier when you need to keep the Subaru nice and cool 😎
For the windows just do stick on Velcro. That’s what they did for the factory t-top shades on Pontiac firebirds. I have two

If you use florescent green/yellow material as a reflector it will add about 30% more power to your solar panels. Cheap, light , and durable

Man I don't even care what the haters saying im sure you'll do some more 30 or 7 day survival challenges in the future. And I can understand not always wanting to rough it and do survival/bushcraft videos. I actually enjoy the mix of it all survival videos, fishing videos, build videos etc.

If you take the middle headrest out of the back seat, it will lay a bit flatter. We discovered this with our Outback a while back.
For the windows just sew a piece of stuff steel cable in or that thin springy metal like an instant tent has then they will pressure fit in

Sarah is a treasure! A keeper for sure. Your cooking skills are second to none. Your building skills are great. Sewing and modifying to make it functional and comfortable. How about doing a van rebuild for fishing and camping and cooking. I know there are a lot of people that do that but they do not have your screen charisma or humour!😀🇨🇦
Roll up insulation cut to measure for the windows. Keeps it private and cooler in warmer months. There are a couple RUclipsr i have seen that gave up their apartments and live solely out of their cars and use that as curtains

I make templates also but use cardboard boxes from the local furniture store and make a one piece template or 2 halves and then tape them together. thanks for the video.
Zack, you could make it so the cooking surface is a stow-a-way thing. if you lift the back section you can have a pullout with folding legs under the back section. As for the front section you can have it in two sections, one that covers the gap and the other being the main body. Use a piano hinge to connect them so that way the gap section folds back over the main body. This way you can have it attached the the back seats and have it slide along the back section. you can do that with runners on the back section and small wheels on the main body. you might need to cut off a 3 to 4 inch section from the bottom of the main body and attach it like with the gap piece. This way it can allow for the seats to be folded back up without having to detach anything for a quick setup and take down.
If you want some kind of blueprint of what I mean let me know, I will need a way to send you a file though.

Having a minivan would make everything much easier.
Reflectix would be the easiest to blackout the windows, easy to make, easy to install and stores flat.
Line the edges with flexible wire so they can fold/coil up for storage but pop out and hold shape. Think like those mesh and wire laundry baskets or popup tents

If I hasn't been said already I was thinking velcro for your curtains. You can easily take them down and put them up 🤙🤙🤙
27:45 hot glue some clear suction cups around the fabric and stick it to the window. or cut a hole in the fabric, stick it thru and wrap a elastic band around the other side
When you lay the seats down if it doesn’t lay flat you can lift up the rear seats so that it sits flat
Hot glue the magnets on the curtain then flip them over and sew the seam. That would take no time to fix.
