I was thinking the same thing, they probably do a little bit, but they are also located next to the air duct where cold air comes in through. I should try to build some kind of shield tho
I will also monitor the intake temps to see how they do. I haven’t driven the Z a lot recently. I’ve just been data logging it
Honestly, I don't think it matters as much for turbo cars vs NA. My reason being, that incoming air is pressurized and heated up by the turbos regardless. Then as air travels, it is later cooled by the intercooler before entering the manifold.
We have had these intakes do 4-10 over dash ambient while in motion. Which is cooler than any closed box. Also, these cars are intercooled, it means the heat exchanger and intercoolers do the cooling for your charge temps. 😊 Intakes are purely there to deliver the air to the turbos, so they can compress it (and make it hotter)
Moreover, we have also seen that cars with open air intakes like this have a better charge air temps over closed box ones. This can also be also supported by the fact that the FASTEST vr30 cars have these intakes.

Helps keep the car cool 👌 especially with added heat from tuning the z
