What kinda unit gas or electric and what do you have your setup on? Example heatpump? If you can come to my Instagram @JBTechfanatic follow me and send me a message with a picture of your Setup also. We will get you up and running

Jb. I am in the process of trying to replace an older Honeywell Chronotherm III thermostat with a Honeywell RTH9585WF thermostat. For wiring on the existing thermostat, I have C - R - Y - G - W2 - O - E. I have corresponding matches on the RTH, but I don't find a O or E. Would the O correspond to W-O/B. Would the E correspond to the W2-Aux/E on the RTH. The W2 already has an existing wire for it though. The system is a Trane Heat Pump. Thanks, Larry

@@JbTechFanatic Jb, Thanks for the response. Just as a CMA, I also contacted Honeywell technical support by email, for the same question, and was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply the same day on email. The response was that I just needed to connect my "O" wire to the W-O/B terminal on the new thermostat. The "E" wire is not required on the RTH model thermostat, since it's now connected internally by the new unit. Looking forward to getting this project completed today. Thanks for your video and response. I do appreciate it.
Also, mine is W, not W2. My R wire was put together with my RH and looped with RC wire in the previous system. Thing is, this has no RH..would I just put my R wire in R and let the loop on the unit do it's work?
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇🙏 Humidity is actually controlled by your ac unit. A ac unit actually pulls the humidity out of your home as this is one of the ways it cools your house. The thermostat takes all this into consideration as it displays the temperature of your home so it is actually controlling humidity buy telling the ac when to shutoff. If you have dirty air filters or a undersize or manufacturing ac it can leave your house feeling yucky and humid 😊 it also displays the outdoors weather
I’m guessing you need a 24 volt C wire? What if you lose wifi and this thermostat is for a 2nd home. Does it default to a certain heat setting if your away ? Does it have a non smart hold temp feature say for a 2nd home? And will it email alert you If your not home, Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 🙏😇 Great question... its settings will hold at whatever your last settings are. You can also have it set to do what works for the home and it will stay that way until you change it and set it as a locked setting no difference than like a old style and yes it will email you and also emails you your exact use how much air or heat used😉
I would have liked to have seen all the menus and see how easy it is to turn on AC and Turn on Heating in the different seasons without a phone/internet
The user interface is really simple and easy-to-use you have ac and heat and temp are all together in the same front screen with a small pop up window that appears depending upon what you touch that says heat or cool .. fan on or auto..temperature up and down. This is available without internet
My old honeywell (TH8320U1008) has a spot for a E, and aux. But the new one the one in the video it's one spot for W2-aux/E and only room for one wire what should I do?

Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 🙏 are you using any Smart Home control like Samsung SmartThings or Google? Also is it connected to the app and do you control using the app?
Of course anytime 😊 so likely what is happening is you setup a schedule with a hold temp. Go into the app touch the desired AC unit then go into schedule what you will notice is it will set auto to keep your house at a specific temperature so what happens is let's just say you set it to 70 the AC will kick on if it's 71 and the heater will kick on if it's below 70. It keeps the house at that temp. go ahead and delete that section completely start over only pick one or the other for the winter season so just pick heat for now. Then shut off auto. Now go ahead and select your desired temperature and re-save it just for your heater this should fix the problem. ruclips.net/p/PLMdd-qroR8HVCBrFHTNorn89kKzy5P4d6
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 🙏 great question and I definitely wondered the same. I dont know if this is everything but besides technology getting much cheaper as its more main stream i believe that the screen was of much higher quality than then the new one it truly was not needed to be of that standard overall the experience is awsome on the old and new. But just looking at it and touching it side by side almost seems it went from like a tv screen to a much simpler screen. It hard because those kinds of specs on this product I cant find🤔
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇 no this model doesn't have a swing setting. It's a standard .5 over or below the desired temperature

Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 🙏 great choice truly a great product. Double check your manual but I believe you pick forced air in the summer then in the winter change it to heat pump. Make sure to look at how your old one is wired take a picture before unconnecting this might be a tricky one. Nice nice thing is it's easy to go back and change the settings just start the setup process over definitely try it both ways and make sure things are running right before leaving it.

The release buttons don't work on this device. And it is extremely flimsy that it feels its going to break. So, if you are installing this unit, remember that taking sure out is almost impossible, if you make a mistake.... Thanks
Definitely feels that way but the good news is I have it for years now and pulled it off many times and it's still holding strong 💪 ruclips.net/p/PLMdd-qroR8HV1m25PEymp6bZ4mt6X5nlA
My red wire is tied into RC with a jumper going into the R slot. Do you believe I should do the same thing with the new thermostat? Or plug the red wire just into R?
Its hard to say. But try as is. Just make sure it turns on ac and then heat also if it wrong it will only turn on one not the other but if only using ac it will be ok for now. Inside the booklet they have some other configurations to help. but it your old unit was wired that way it should be fine😉 let me know it really late here if it isn't working right i can pull mine off and help get your going. I'm a transplant patient and hooked to tubes and a iv and its midnight or i would do it now😊
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support. Sorry that you are having issues. Is this a new thermostat and it won't work or was it working and now it won't work permanent hold and temporary hold are just settings they should not stop you from being able to turn on your AC if the AC is not coming on you might have popped a breaker on the outside unit there's usually a cable that runs to a breaker box that often pops if it's not that you might have blown a capacitor that's another major problem it's a simple fix normally about 165 bucks to have someone fix it. Let me know more details I will try to help you as best as I can
Jb TechFanatic thanks I don’t know anything about that we bought our house a few weeks ago and that thermostat came with it I think I’ll just have to call someone to help up
I see i would check the breakers for your ac make sure all are on. Next set your thermostat to Cooling make sure its not on heat. and if it doesn't work call an AC repairman. Also if you're wanting to use your thermostat with your phone go to the settings menu on the thermostat and reset it and start a new set up this way you can login to the device and control everything with your phone if we were neighbors I would come over and help you fix it sorry I wasn't able to be more helpful
I not sure if I'm understanding the question correctly but the wires are usually ran when the house is built by a electrician. Or sometimes a ac company will rerun if you get a new ac unit and have issues. You also can purchase wires from your local lowes or home depot.
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇💯 Honestly I would of been glad to give them to you. Anything I don't need I give away to a family in need. @@JbTechFanatic if it switch between heat and cool Automatic, . If fallowing the scheduled. If is too cold turn the heat on and if is too hot turn the cold on automatic. Without doing it manual
Yes using the app and or Samsung SmartThings hub. You set the temp you want say 75 and set the system to keep it there with heat or cool and everything will then be automatically done. Its a great feature. Samsung SmartThings in combination make everything so easy and hands free. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm honored by your support 😇
It is actually not Honeywell. The company you call for any tech support and it is manufactured by is Resideo. One of their line of products is Honeywell Home.
Resideo Technologies, Inc. is a publicly traded U.S.-based company formed in 2018 out of a spin off from Honeywell. It provides room air temperature, quality, and humidity control and security systems primarily in residential dwellings in the U.S. and internationally. The company operates in two segments: products and distribution. It manufactures and distributes smart-home and software products, including temperature and lighting[3] control, security, and water and air monitoring. The company also distributes security, fire and low-voltage products.[4][5] The company now has over 13,000 employees globally, and products in over 150 million households The spin-off ratio was 1:6, implying that every Honeywell shareholder holding six shares in the company received one share of Resideo. On October 15, 2018, Resideo's common stock commenced when-issued trading on the NYSE under the ticker “REZI-W.” The record date for the spin off was October 16, 2018.
Thank you for your recommendation. It's hard as everyone has different setups to give a perfect broad example besides the one i show of my own. But each format is layed out in the manual to help I included the illustration. But the great thing about my channel is I do this to help people only and respond to comments and if you would like any help this way I can certainly try to get you up and going. Let me know if you have any questions you have to hook up yours.
I want to buy this but damn the screen quality looks really crappy. You can see the pixels/lines all through out. I wouldn't expect this in 2020... Early 2000's yes, but why could they not use a nicer lcd screen.
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇 💯 🙏 lol I completely agree 👍 Its a cost factor i believe. Last generation model had a much nicer screen but the price was double. Also in person its not as bad but I love bright vivid screens and would love a new option. Having said that This is definitely a wonderful product though. It works great and has all the features you need and works with pretty much any Smart systems voice controls and discount plans through the electric company's 😇
Make sure your power line is pushed and locked into position with enough wire for contact then go turn your breaker box back on. Next when you put the face on make sure it clicks so the pins have contact. Remember only 1 wire is power. It's almost always the red. If you need to splice it to get better contact try it. Let me know 😇
@@JbTechFanatic when i took my old thermostat off the blue wire wasnt connected. I disconnected it. Put my green in c. It powers on. What was the blue wire for? My heat and ac ran through my old thermostat so should be the same setup??
Honestly its so difficult because everyone has different wires depending on the systems and date home was built. Best thing to do is to take a photo of the colors and what ports they were plugged into then replicate the same connections on your new one. They also provide a few variations in the manual. But as long as the AC turns on and the heat turns on as well as the fans you know you're up and running what often happens is the AC will work but the heater won't if Mis wired.
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇 💯 🙏 I totally understand where your coming from. So the reasons they want that information is the app knows when your home and not to save money buy running less when no one is home ect. Also the usage monitor this tells you how much the ac and or heat has ran and compares it for you based off your use and averages. It will give you readings and estimate cost based off location. it also is compatible with the electric companies discount programs this will save you about 20.percent of your bill if your electric company offers it. And lastly it gives a live reading of the weather and humidity. But if you want the product but dont want to give up that information you can always use a random address and block the location access once setup is complete. I did that for my mother in law as she just wanted to be able to use her phone to turn it on and off and it still works fine. Hopefully this helps a little 😇
Thank you so much for watching. I'm honored that you have considered subscribing and took your time to comment 🤗😊 Yes you can download the app or use your browser and control it from anywhere😎
If you specifically lose power to just the control it should continue to use your current settings that were left through the backup system. however if you lose power to the whole house then you lose power to your whole system but once the power comes back everything goes back to the way it was. Hopefully this is making sense LOL reading it back it looks kind of confusing
I was extremely disappointed in my new thermostat since the wire connections did not work properly. They did not grip on to the wire as shown in the installation video and the device consequently did not perform well. I ended up removing it and reinstalling the original device. It sadly turned out to be a big waste of money and time for me. I consequently can not recommend this device.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your feedback. Sorry it would not hold. If its worth it to try again You can splice your wires and buy some extensions to get a better hold or try this kit here some people have said it helps amzn.to/3AZp94c

Can you help me figure out how to set up the range of temperature feature so the AC automatically turns on at a certain temperature and the heat automatically turns on when the temperature drops to a certain degree?
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 💯 yes.. it actually simple using the app. Are you all set up
Once in app press schedule then guide me through then set the time and chose the same temp on heat and ac or whatever temps you want then select auto
You said your system has a heat pump, yet you selected forced air on the setup menu. That confuses me, was that a mistake??
🤔loI i think i was doing it just to basically show what the setup walk-through looks like. But saying select what you have at home that just what it happened to be on. But no the heat would not work set forced air. And also yes I have a heat pump and it's set to that now 3 years running
Just installed mine today. Can someone please tell me how to change Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support😇 when you run setup as new to set your system do you see the section it asked what you prefer? Also login to your thermostat using a pc website and look through settings see if the option is still there😊

@@JbTechFanatic I HAVE A BROWN wire that link JUMP the E SPOT with the W2 SPOT in the ROBERTSHAW Brand (the previous one). WHAT DO YOU THINK SHOULD I DO WITH THAT WIRE? I ONLY HAVE W2 AND E AT THE SAME SPOT IN THE HONEYWELL. NOW I AM NOT SURE BUT THE AUTOMATIC AND THE HEAT SEEM DON'T WORK PROPERLY.
What kinda unit gas or electric and what do you have your setup on? Example heatpump? If you can come to my Instagram @JBTechfanatic follow me and send me a message with a picture of your Setup also. We will get you up and running
Can you enable geofencing ok n the app?
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 🙏 yes it's easy to setup if for some reason your app is not working on your phone log in to the app using your web browser instead. Make sure your location is enabled on your phone. And if your home is slightly off on your map location drag the geofencing over the home location that way it activates properly your AC while you're in proximity of your home ect😉
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇🙏💯 if im understanding you right yes yes and im not sure. I'll need to see a photo but having said that I have the same system with heat pump you should be able to follow my exact Setup in the video. But if you cant get it to work come follow me on Instagram or Facebook @JBTechfanatic reference this conversation and that way you can send me photos. Send your old wire Setup and your new. Please note after wires are done make sure to pick heat pump. Let me know
@@JbTechFanatic Jb, Thanks for the response.
No problem enjoy your new system 😇💯
I have an O wire. No E, would I put my O wire in the same place as the gentleman above? Great video by the way!
Also, mine is W, not W2. My R wire was put together with my RH and looped with RC wire in the previous system. Thing is, this has no RH..would I just put my R wire in R and let the loop on the unit do it's work?
Do you need to turn off power while doing the install ?
Thank you so much for watching. I'm honored that you have considered subscribing and for taking your time to comment😇 yes power off the main breakers😉
I wonder why they don't provide the forecast on the thermostat? They provide the outside temperature.
You can get the forecast it's a option in the menu 😉
Do you know if it is able to control humidity level? thank you
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇🙏 Humidity is actually controlled by your ac unit.
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇💯 if your sure it each they both will go in to the same E/aux slot just splice them so you have more wire end and put them into the same area😉
What if the heat is gas? Can you push both?
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇🙏 Make sure the model you purchase is compatible with gas heating and it will work the same as shown in my video. The one I have does work with either but they all look the same and some don't so read in the description section or look on the package to make sure you get one right for your home and gas heater 😊 ruclips.net/p/PLMdd-qroR8HV1m25PEymp6bZ4mt6X5nlA
Hi, how do I change it where it's not switching over from heating to cool? My unit runs constantly because of that
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 🙏 are you using any Smart Home control like Samsung SmartThings or Google? Also is it connected to the app and do you control using the app?
@@JbTechFanatic than you for getting back to me😊 no only thing I'm using is the app that it's connected to
Of course anytime 😊 so likely what is happening is you setup a schedule with a hold temp.
@@JbTechFanatic ok I will give it a shot. Thank you😊
No problem let me know if it helps
Thanks. I wanted to know the difference in why is older price higher
Does it have temperature swing?
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇 no this model doesn't have a swing setting. It's a standard .5 over or below the desired temperature
@@JbTechFanatic oh ok I see thank you for your help. I have a Honeywell that has a 1 degree temp swing. I had the nest for alittle bit but returned it because it didn’t have a temp swing. This Honeywell looks nice might get one lol
I really enjoy the Honeywell. But I agree temperature swing is a great feature. I will say I feel like it does a great job of knowing the true temperature in my house. I've had many others that would say it was 79 but it felt like 89 lol. ruclips.net/p/PLMdd-qroR8HVLKrKPVI9-fq6j89ru30i8
@@JbTechFanatic oh ok I hear a lot of people say it turns the furnace on too frequently and said it wasn’t a good thermostat.
Honestly I have not heard anything bad so far from my viewers. but I Definitely love it.
Great video! I just purchased one and picking up today from BB. Question tho: What option would I select when setting up? Forced air or heat pump? I have a trane unit Outside and I have a heat pump that warms our home in the winter. Thanks again!
Hey brother, I just install the thermostat. Everything is fine but the compressor is not getting activated
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 🙏 its you ac with a Heat pump? And is the breaker on at the outside ac unit? What setup do you have and use?
CAN I ORDER A NEW BAASE PLATE?
Thank you for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 💯 I'm not sure That would likely have to be a part order from the company. I recommend giving them a call and seeing who you can get parts from. ruclips.net/p/PLMdd-qroR8HV1m25PEymp6bZ4mt6X5nlA&si=SJswC5ndReLEX_04
Did you tie your blue wire into the c port as the common wire?
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇🙏 yes my blue wire is in c😉
My red wire is tied into RC with a jumper going into the R slot. Do you believe I should do the same thing with the new thermostat? Or plug the red wire just into R?
Its hard to say. But try as is. Just make sure it turns on ac and then heat also
if it wrong it will only turn on one not the other but if only using ac it will be ok for now. Inside the booklet they have some other configurations to help. but it your old unit was wired that way it should be fine😉 let me know it really late here if it isn't working right i can pull mine off and help get your going. I'm a transplant patient and hooked to tubes and a iv and its midnight or i would do it now😊
Thanks for all your assistance truly appreciate it, especially with it being so late.
My ac doesn’t turn on and when I try to put a lower temperature it says permanent hold or temporary and it doesn’t work pls help
Hi.. where did the wire inside the wall came from??
I not sure if I'm understanding the question correctly but the wires are usually ran when the house is built by a electrician. Or sometimes a ac company will rerun if you get a new ac unit and have issues. You also can purchase wires from your local lowes or home depot.
Do you still have your old thermostats? I will buy one.
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇💯 Honestly I would of been glad to give them to you. Anything I don't need I give away to a family in need. I'm not implying you are in need. Just saying that These went to a family that themastat went out and could not afford new ones. So I don't have them anymore 😕
Too difficult to connect the cables don’t hear the snap sound
As long as the cables are not touching each other and have full contact with the pins it should work without issues ruclips.net/p/PLMdd-qroR8HV1m25PEymp6bZ4mt6X5nlA&si=O6gGPV0dgrF_1mU5
You might want to level your thermostat...looks down on the left-hand side.
Lol don't worry its level. The wood photo below is crooked and the camera stand was slightly off. I TRIED to turn the camera view in editing but made it worse lol
automatically switch between heat and cool?
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm so thankful for your support😇 im a little confused lol. Are you asking how to get it to keep a auto temp heat or cool?
The company also distributes security, fire and low-voltage products.[4][5] The company now has over 13,000 employees globally, and products in over 150 million households
The spin-off ratio was 1:6, implying that every Honeywell shareholder holding six shares in the company received one share of Resideo. On October 15, 2018, Resideo's common stock commenced when-issued trading on the NYSE under the ticker “REZI-W.” The record date for the spin off was October 16, 2018.
Could have spent a little more time talking about matching up wiring to slots on the new baseplate.

How to remove thermostat from wallplate?
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing I'm thankful for your support 😇🙏 it just snaps on pull towards you and up
I want to buy this but damn the screen quality looks really crappy.
I have 5 wires... hooked them up according to color. No power.
@@JbTechFanatic i had heat, but no ac now that summer is here.. not sure what to do next
@@JbTechFanatic ill have to get in the manual and look at the different set ups
I liked the product till they decided they needed my home address. Going to guess the app wants my location data also?
Hopefully this helps a little 😇
Blue X? 😅 That's a plus sign for "Add"
?
Jb can I use my IPhone
Thank you so much for watching. I'm honored that you have considered subscribing and took your time to comment 🤗😊 Yes you can download the app or use your browser and control it from anywhere😎
What if you lose power what happens to this
If you specifically lose power to just the control it should continue to use your current settings that were left through the backup system. however if you lose power to the whole house then you lose power to your whole system but once the power comes back everything goes back to the way it was.
If its worth it to try again You can splice your wires and buy some extensions to get a better hold or try this kit here some people have said it helps

Did you know there is an adapter to make that thermostat work
