the nest is garbage, its temp sensors are out of wack and google refuses to replace or warranty them, yet most of my neighbors have them and have the same issues, house has been at 78 degrees or more for the last few weeks, this is outrageous, and i spent the last 6 hours on hold attempting to speak to google nest team about this and they will not answer and when you press the number to leave a callback number it says the mailbox is full and hangs up, DO NOT BUY NEST PEOPLE, save your money and spend it on something better
I have had three of these things in less than 5 years and they have all failed... Only one of them was warrantied. I was assed out on the other 2....STAY AWAY FROM THIS JUNK
I had the Ecobee (older version) for a couple years in my old house with zero issues. When I moved my new house already had a new gen 3 Nest installed. Worked great for two months then it stopped connecting to my wifi. Contacted Nest and they sent a refurbished replacement. It connected to my wifi and worked for a day and then it stopped connecting. I will ask for another replacement then if still does the same thing I will go back to Ecobee. I read this is a known issue with the Nest.
Had the Nest thermostat, my AC would make a really hard banging sound when the compressor would kick, installed the Ecobee Premium two days ago, no more banging noises.
how about any aprilaire 8920W equivalents? I found none... That thing controls ac, heat, dehumidifier, humidifier, air purifier/exchanger, all in one... That one is smart too
I just want to be able to control my thermostat on my phone away from home. I don’t want any learning/assistant to adjust ANYTHING at any time. I will do it all manually at the dial or on my phone. That being said, what’s the best one for me?
I was so happy when I got my Nest thermostat and now I hate that mofo. If you got a heat pump with auxiliary heating avoid the Nest at all cost. Honeywell is your friend.
Nest learning thermostat is the worst! Not being able to adjust the eco temp is the worst design. I get its “eco” but when it’s 100degrees outside at night, 76 is still too hot to sleep in and makes the house stuffy. Needs to have some sort of adjustability. I shouldn’t have to walk around the house for the A/C to realize to kick on.
We’ve recently installed a modulating furnace and a 2-stage heat pump Rheem HVAC system…. The Nest has been unable to accommodate the switch from gas furnace to electric heat pump and we’re being told the Nest technology is not compatible with these newest HVAC systems. Has anyone else experienced problems with Rheem HVAC systems and the Nest?
I have been using nest for many years with a 15 year old Rheem AC. Just replaced it with a new trane heat pump and the nest would run the indoor fan all the time and could not turn it off. They HVAC guys put on a Honeywell standard thermostat and that problem was solved. Very disappointing. Think I will try the Honeywell smart thermostat.
@@LinztennyofficialI had a WiFi connection problem also. I did everything and couldn’t get a connection. Finally I took the battery out of the sensor and only then was able to get WiFi back on my T Stat. 🤷🏼♂️I think the sensor was intercepting the WiFi signal preventing my T Stat from receiving.
I just bought a Nest 3rd generation learning thermostat for my steam boiler with a 24-volt 2-wire thermostat. I installed it and connected it to my Wi-Fi. I got all the way to test mode, but the boiler would not come on. The damper motor started to hum and buzz, and it would not open the flapper. back it goes......
answer is 'yes'. The fan 'on' feature, is in the app controlled by your phone. I currently have 3 zones, controlled by 'nest' and wish I didn't. I liked my 'alexa' thermostat better and will most likely return it when I and soon as I can.
The nest just works and comes with a full package to get you going. Installation was intuitive too. My previous thermostat wouldn't work without a c wire.
Speaking with various professional HVAC guys, the overwhelming majority can't stand Nest thermostats. I went with Ecobee.. I previously owned a 1st gen Nest that served me well through the years, but it ultimately got fried when we were having our unit serviced, not sure if it was the technicians fault or something with our system.
That depends on what you mean Lennox HVAC. My gas furnace is Lennox. My AC is Carrier. My smart thermostat is Ecobee4. It works fine, but I did add a C wire. The ecobee replaced an old Nest (one of the originals) which worked fine and with no C wire. The original was made before Google bought Nest. Fair warning I do not trust Google and that is why I punted the Nest.
We were impressed at first with Nest but have had battery problems often and constantly having to charge it. We should not have to do that. I hear more positive feedback or results for Honeywell and Ecobee.
@@bosorot hi there. They just gave us the thermostat and didn't give us much information when we got our new air conditioning unit. So I know nothing about any extra wires or anything like that.

The most basic setting which my family want doesn’t work. We want to set the heating to turn on early morning before we wake up. I have set a schedule and it just won’t turn itself on! I’ve even tried it with the Nest not turned off but at lower temperature and it still won’t activate at the time I’ve set. I’ve turned off all smart learning features and that doesn’t help either. So annoying because other than that, it’s a good bit of kit. If anyone has successfully done this please tell me how you did it. Thanks for the video.

I prefer the Nest E compared to all of them never had a single issue with it, but they don't sell it in stores anymore had it 4 years until lightning hit our house and destroyed it, it's by far the superior version. Nest learning was absolutely garbage always had issues with it as it would change the temperature by itself, tried adding a common wire since this version has a common known issue where it loses power in cold weather but the common wire didn't fix it and turns out after 1 year (bought brand new from Walmart in October 2023) the Rc terminal went bad during the coldest time of the winter causing our furnace to short cycle $230 down the drain. I can't stand the Nest 2020 model (current install now) it's ugly, basic and don't get me started on the crappy thermostat UI for Google home since this is the first thermostat that DOES NOT allow the useage of the Nest App but it was the only option we had.
I am looking for a smart thermostat for an airbnb property. I need it to have the function where it can be nearly 100% operated from the App so that the ONLY function that the guests can access is turning it off or boosting it incrementally for up to say 6 hours maximum. I need it so that guests are also unable to change this setting. Do you know if any thermostats have this available in the settings ? Thanks
Sounds like you shouldn’t be listing your home on Airbnb then. You want to control the comfort of your tenants temperature and give them no control of how comfortable they want to be? You’re probably the type of person to stay away from when renting on Airbnb
I want to buy the Cielo smart thermostat - they are doing so well with the new launch! I am looking for more reviews, please share information on the thermostat.
