I really appreciate all the effort and research YB does to make sure that she’s respecting the culture, the food, & the history of the dishes they’re eating. So cool to listen to them:)
Salamat, YB! ❤️ 🇵🇭 It's not very often other Filipino food gets recognized, other than Jollibee, but I admire your enthusiasm to try different cuisines and spread awareness to things that make one's culture unique. 💙❤️💛
As a Filipino, you nailed the research and the pronunciation as well!! sending much love!! 🤍 Y'all better try next time our veggie/with soup dishes like Kare Kare, Tinola, Pinakbet, and Sinigang.
would be nice if you were able to try the soup/stew dishes as well. I feel like Kare-kare would have been a great addition to the mix as you have so many similar pork dishes. Our cuisine is much more than pork! :) Lechon kawali and liempo to me taste the same and I'm Filipino. ^^
yess there were so much to choose from! it's just that most dishes people recommended were pork dishes, so I went with the most popular ones. And I see why...they were SO GOOD haha we'll definitely need to try all the other dishes! 😍
Yeahh, I personally like Beef Caldereta(Spicy Beef Stew) and Sinigang na Hipon or Shrimp Sinigang. They recommended Pork dishes because they are probably thinking you and Herbert might be picky eaters. 🤣😂 But Lechon Kawali goes well with Laing too or Pinakbet, these two are vegetable dishes. Laing is Gabi Leaves cooked in Coconut Milk with Chili and Pinakbet are vegetables sautéd with Shrimp Paste or Shrimp Sauce. Try those next. 😊
I'm Filipino and sometimes I forget how much we love pork. Heck, most of our vegetable dishes still have pieces of pork in it LOL. Since you mentioned wanting something green/veggie based, I find pinakbet (veggie stew w/ shrimp, pork, or both) is great with the lechon kawali. And you'll feel a TEENSY bit less guilty
You also forget Muslims are Filipinos too and there is a giant island where they have better food than Fried Pork which every country in Africa can cook.
This is an old video, but I just want to say thank you. The filipino food sometimes shown online are the ones that are a bit of an acquired taste. (Balut, Dinuguan, anything with bagoong , etc) Glad to see more people appreciating the food the country has to offer!
YB nailed the research and naming of all the Filipino food. Hope for part 2, try sisigang, nilaga, tinola, lumpia sariwa and pinakbet. Those are good Filipino food as well.
@@YBChangOfficial : Yes there are no silent letters except for the "u" that follows the Q and G in Spanish-style spelling. Ask the staff what condiments and dipping sauces will go well with each dish.
I love this YB! Thank you for taste testing authentic filipino food. I highly recommend the next time you decide on trying filipino again, try the vegetable versions of food! Kare kare, Sinigang, vegetable lumpia and pinakbet. Or go to a vegan Filipino restaurant haha.
This was such a fun video! I recommend the following dishes for your next Filipino food video: Kare Kare, Tinola (chicken), Caldereta (beef), Pinakbet (veggies), SINIGANG (variations can be pork, beef, shrimp, fish, chicken) and maybe a spicy dish called Bicol Express!
I’m Filipino and we try not to eat these often but damn it is so good when we do😍 total comfort food for me. Hope next time you guys can try the soups/stews! Also filipino dessert!

Double treat today! YB eating with Herbert on her channel, YB eating with Alex and some of the food daddies on the Try Guys channel. Yay for YB eating, but boo for me wanting Filipino and Japanese food now. I might have to travel into the city this weekend for some Filipino food.
Aside from pork dishes, Filipinos do have fish dishes like grilled whole fish, Salmon head sour stew, and Filipino-style ceviche. Also chicken dishes, like Chicken Inasal (Marinated Chicken on lemongrass) Afritada (Chicken in Tomato Sauce Stew), Sinampalukang Manok (Chicken in Tamarind Soup). For veggies, we have Pinakbet (Mixed veggies cooked in shrimp paste) and Laing (Taro Leaves cooked in Coconut Milk). I lessen my intake of deep-fried foods due to health issues but I do hope you can try other Filipino foods not just only the deep-fried ones.
Chicken Inasal also has annatto oil (annatto seeds heated in vegetable oil) and coconut vinegar. It does not taste authentic to me without those two ingredients.
Deep fried pork and meat, amazing. Wow, fried minced pork, wow brilliant. Chinese noodles and Chinese Spring rolls and Chopstick is definitely the best example of Filipino culture. Bravo.
Hope you can make a part 2 and try the soup and saucy dishes like kare kare, sinigang na baboy, tinola, mechado, menudo, bulalo. Glad that you liked the food you ordered. Happy eating!
Loved watching you guys eat these dishes! But now I’m craving for grilled pork liempo and lechon kawali. 😅 At home we usually pair those with achara (like a pickled papaya slaw) and ensaladang talong (grilled eggplant salad that has some onions and tomatoes). They’re sides that are vinegar-based so it can help cut off the fattiness from those pork dishes. Glad you enjoyed trying them. 🥰
Salamat YB! For respecting and trying our food and our culture! This was really fun to watch! ❤️✨ Filipino snacks are good too or other meal. But I agree that those you ate are top of the good dishes in a feast or handaan in our country. Kodus to Herbert in really enjoying the food plus he uses his hands to eat them which is thr authentic way of how we eat these dishes here! Love that you both are game on trying out food. Thank you po Ms. YB for appreciating our Filipino food culture. You guys are so sweet. Please try other dishes like Lechon, Sinigang and Dinuguan 😊. Keep safe po and God Bless.
You guys are too cute and thanks for appreciating Filipino culture. If there's one thing...two things I can say about Filipino food is that most dishes are always paired/eaten with rice and our quintessential dipping sauce is anything vinegar based. Vinegar + soy sauce + garlic + onions + chilies (optional but I feel it's a must) is the one thing that elevates any meat/meat dishes. Contrary to popular belief, as much as we LOVE our meats, pork, but we do have tons of veggies dishes too. And as always, good boy Louis (sorry for the spelling)
I just had Palabok and Lechon for lunch. You've gotta try Kare-Kare, Bakareta, Pork and Chicken Afritada, Pork/Fish/Shrimp Sinigang, Squid Adobo, and if you're adventurous try Dinuguan.

You should try Filipino dessert nextime. Like the traditional kakanin. It's mostly made of glutinous rice but there are soooo many varieties. Better have them fresh otherwise they spoil easily.
Hi guys, I'm a new subscriber here in the Philippines. I'm glad you enjoyed the Filipino pork dishes you tried. I completely agree; sisig goes great with tacos, especially if it's cooked crispy. The one you bought wasn't very crispy. The crispy sisig is even better; it's similar to, but better than lechon kawali. I hope you can find some crispy sisig in your area, which goes well with San Miguel, a local Filipino beer. In your next video, try a Filipino breakfast, such as beef tapa, cornbeef, tocino, or longanisa. Jolibee also has Filipino breakfast items on their menu, such as those I mentioned, but I'm not sure if they serve them with fried garlic rice and egg, because if those aren't paired with garlic rice and egg, they're not truly Filipino breakfast.
To truly enjoy Filipino food, one must know what "Sawsawan" is. There is no right or wrong when it comes to dipping sauce, Lumpia and kwek-kwek goes well with vinegar. Don't be afraid to be adventurous with the sauce, some like it sweet, some spicy, some sour. Try different things until you find what suits your taste.
For me the reason why Philippines has a lot of pork , it has something to do with the spanish influence, because Spain is well known for there pork based food. But dont worry we also have vegan options and halal options cause we have Islam in our country to
@@YBChangOfficial WOW! I didnt expect you’d reply to me 🥰 my personal favorite is honestly kare kare and I hope you can also try Lechon Baboy!! Mike Chen really loves lechon!

Some notes: Kwek-kwek is different from Tokneneng. Kwek-kwek uses quail eggs while tokneneng uses chicken egg or duck egg. For the crispy pata, I believe you were pointing at the cartilage. It's not fat. I hope you guys could try Sinigang.
Yay!!! Finally Filipino food!!! So sorry I watched it late. I've been really busy with work. Hope that when the Pandemic is over you can come visit the Philippines 😘❣️
I wish they had some salads to eat all this food with, Ensaladas with Grilled Eggplants, Pako Ferns, Salted Eggs, Tomatoes, Onions, Sea Grapes, it really makes the meal Or stewed veggie dishes like KangKong Adobo, Ginataang Kalabasa, Banana Blossom Gata More to Filipino food than just grilled and fried food, its a fiesta cuisine 😀
Maybe you can give Louie a dog chew treat or something special that is good for him during these. I was watching his expressions of betrayal through the whole video, lol.
I hope you also have the chicken dishes.. and the saucy dishes too. but i must agree.. since we have diverse influences, you may have already tried some of our known dishes on its original form.. I just hope you had sinigang, bulalo and chicken lechon in the menu.. please add bicol express too.. better yet, make bicol express on your own.. its popular with koreans because it is one of the spicy food we have...
Thank you for making our Filipino hearts happy!!! Another place to try foods from is Max’s of Manila in Glendale-the fried chicken *try with banana ketchup, shrimp sinigang, pork lumpia, and halo halo (amazing dessert) are my favorites!
Next time go to Max’s restaurant or Arko In Glendale. Max’s is a sit down restaurant while Arko is similar to Filipino fast food wherein you pick and choose what you want. Both places are the spots that we usually go to if we crave Filipino food. Hope this helps for the next video
I appreciate the effort they put in the video. Nice :) just wanna add that most people here in the Philippines use pork for meat since its one of the affordable meats you can get. But we like beef too and other meats like chicken duck and fish. In the province we eat frogs and "Dagang bukid" which literally translates to rat farm.
The Brunch Meals a pretty Fire too The Tapas Tapsilog on Rice Beef Tapa with fried egg on rice MilkFish fried with egg on rice Sardines fried with egg on rice There are others
There is this saucy, vegetable-rich and so soft version of the pata called the PATA TIM with lots of shitake mushrooms, bokchoy, carrots, baby corn, onion leeks, onions, and roasted garlic bits. It has this reputation to be a sophisticated, higher-end restaurant dish, such that the crispy pata is more for informal parties like birthdays and fiestas, matched with beer and soda, while the pata tim is the star cuisine of Filipino weddings (like mine) and matched with red wine. Hope you get to try it :)
Man all that Food is MaSarap!! Love Pinoy Food!! Hot Sisig with egg mixed in Mayo served on a hot plate with rice & fresh Banana or Pineapple or Mango shake!! Bomb!! Also should try Sinigang Na Baboy or Sinigang Na Manok or both combined same with Adobo. KareKare is also nice, Kaldaretta. The Best Snack or can have as a desert are Hot Turon(Banana wrapped in rice paper sprinkled with brown sugar cooked in a pan over hot coal) great as is or served with Vanilla IceCream & French Cream. Two top deserts are Leche Flan 🍮 & BukoPandan both with Vanilla IceCream are Superb!!

I wish they had some salads to eat all this food with, Ensaladas with Grilled Eggplants, Pako Ferns, Salted Eggs, Tomatoes, Onions, Sea Grapes, it really makes the meal
Or stewed veggie dishes like KangKong Adobo, Ginataang Kalabasa, Banana Blossom Gata
More to Filipino food than just grilled and fried food, its a fiesta cuisine 😀
Maybe you can give Louie a dog chew treat or something special that is good for him during these. I was watching his expressions of betrayal through the whole video, lol.
I am Filipino and love all those foods! Im watching with jealousy but also getting heartburn just watching 🤣
😂😂 so much meat today!
Yay Filipino represent! Just watching made me crave for those! Tastes like home. So happy you enjoyed it and yes, we have sisig tacos!
😍yum!!
im late but im so glad you liked our food!! also, its hard to watch you guys eat while im on a diet lol
I enjoy watching this! I hope you do a part 2 of other filipino dishes with desserts 💙❤️💛
Kwek-kwek is actually made from quail eggs, which is why its tinier! Tokneneng is the one usually made from duck eggs :)
makes sense!! I crave them again haha
@@YBChangOfficial eat them with caution, your blood pressure might rise! 😂😂😂

Awesome selection!
i'm suprised that filipino foods are kinda similar with indonesian especially that bihon we also called it bihun here AND ALSO LUMPIAA
Thank you for making our Filipino hearts happy!!! Another place to try foods from is Max’s of Manila in Glendale-the fried chicken *try with banana ketchup, shrimp sinigang, pork lumpia, and halo halo (amazing dessert) are my favorites!
Next time go to Max’s restaurant or Arko
In Glendale.
6:40 oh Herbert! Missed opportunity! 🤣
😂😂
Thank U for tryin Filipino food...appreciate the brief intro
😉👌🏻🥰🙏🏻😊
The Brunch Meals a pretty Fire too
The Tapas
Tapsilog on Rice
Beef Tapa with fried egg on rice
MilkFish fried with egg on rice
Sardines fried with egg on rice
There are others
There is this saucy, vegetable-rich and so soft version of the pata called the PATA TIM with lots of shitake mushrooms, bokchoy, carrots, baby corn, onion leeks, onions, and roasted garlic bits. It has this reputation to be a sophisticated, higher-end restaurant dish, such that the crispy pata is more for informal parties like birthdays and fiestas, matched with beer and soda, while the pata tim is the star cuisine of Filipino weddings (like mine) and matched with red wine. Hope you get to try it :)
Thank you guys for trying Filipino food
Yehey!!!! You need another episode of Filipino dishes, but now it should only focus on vegetables. Lol
8:01 agree. great with beer.
Some pilipino called that food "PULUTAN" specialy the intestine and the crispy pata, sisig, liempo to. Its the best pulutan ever.
FINALLLLLLYYYYYYY
