Andy Patrick He was in the original play when it was in Australia 30 years ago. He has played many characters over the 30 year run around the world, and this isn't his first run as Frank ether.
Just seen rocky horror show at the comedy theatre in Melbourne 2015 absolutely loved every minute of it would highly recommend everyone to see it. Loved the characters and all the music brings back memories of when I last saw it at least 20 years ago. Love love love it
I think watching this on film is very different to live. If I had only seen this on youtube I would say it was shit but watching it as a live theatre was completely different. I enjoyed it live. It was fun and carefree and just a good night. I mean this was for live theatre not to be watched over youtube.
I had a hunch this would be bad, but didn't think it would be this dreadful. Craig looked and acted like a slightly camp footy player in tights, and was completely unconvincing as Dr, Frankenfurter. An the others were fairly weak. Matching the original is a tough call, but nup, that was shitful.
my problem with this was the way they got the emphasis of the songs wrong. The bits that should have been really sold were half hearted and the bits that needed understating were sung with a operatic note. They have mic's they can be understated I don't understand why they would need to do it they way they did. Then again maybe it works in person in a way that never could with a video because we would always just compare it to Tim Curry's performance and the movie
@@Ermmmm...79 If you have a problem with someone differing from you on an opinion then... don't read it? See whst I did there? Hurrdurrr. Owned, snowflake.
MusicCrew41 Yeah but, somehow Tim Curry is the only sweet transvestite that does it for me :P all well, I guess lots of people have many different preferences :)
I love everything about this!! Excluding Frank's singing, all that emphasis is going to the wrong words and ugh. There's just no sensuality in it. :( How disappointing. Love, love, love Columbia though!
You know that the movie is NOT the original source material right? There was a stage production. Then the movie. They rearranged some parts for the movie, even took out some songs. The stage show is more accurate than the movie.
I loved this cast!!! I saw it at the festival theater in Adelaide (Richard O'Brien as the Narrator) and if I could, I would go back in time and watch it again!!! Fantastically Fabulous!!!
I have never before seen a performer more adored than Craig as Frankenfurter. I asked staff if it was like this every night. They said it was. It doesn't translate here on youtube.
I went to this show at the Comedy Theatre Melbourne last night. I haven't laughed so much in decades! We had front row seats... well worth every penny. Craig, you are awesome!! Depite your advancing years, your tush is just as sexy as it ever was. You shocked me... and I enjoyed every second
Oh dear. I love Craig, and I'm a MASSIVE fan of Rocky Horror but this is dire. Cannot beat Tim Curry in this role, but Anthony Stewart Head comes a close second, IMO. I see that loads of people are saying this was only a dress rehearsal and not as good as the actual show so does anyone have any clips of it?
Jayne Hodge haha i love tim and Anthony in this role and i never thought any one else could do it but omg Craig does it! i put him up there with tim curry the show is hysterical! go see it!
People who haven't seen the show may say they don't think Craig is suitable for Frank, however once you actually go and see it, you see that he plays it brilliantly. This preview doesn't give him justice, he is perfect for the role.
I went and saw this multiple times and I just have to say that I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PERFORMANCE!! It was so amazing, Craig and the cast did such a fabulous job! They definitely deserved the standing ovation on the last day!!!! I went and saw the last performance a few years ago and that doesn't even begin to compare to this years one!!!
I am so glad I didn't pay money to see this. That music sounds so "canned" like it's run off a MIDI sequencer. Seriously, I could play these instruments better, jeez, I could MIX this better. Add some BASS!
For everyone complaining about this version of Frank N Furter: if you saw him live you would see how bloody brilliant he was. I saw him in Adelaide and it's one of the highlights of my life, the entire cast was simply amazing
Craig sounds nasally like me when I have a flu or hay fever. When he sang "satanic me-chany-yak" at 5:43 he just sounded stupid. I think he must be pretty full of himself to go so far with the OTT performance that's nothing like the original (plus he needed to lose a little weight so he could hold a note).
The Time Warp was awesome, Sweet Transvestite was a waste of time. RIP Sweet Transvestite, for you were murdered by this fake Frankie :( PLUS, this Frank Furter reminds me of Norm Macdonald.
I was wondering why this wasn't any where near as good as what I saw in person. It was a dress rehearsal, the reason I know this is because their costumes are incomplete. They obviously haven't put as much effort into this dress rehearsal as they do in the show as the show was absolutely amazing. So don't judge these performers by this because they are fantastic in the show as they have an audience to perform too.
Ok I really don't see why everyone has hate on them do you not see how much effort they put in it and they were only warming up to the environment and also do you not realizes that they are still doing this exact Performance still when I'm typing this and they have improved on this but I went through go these comments and not one is a complement and that's what I'm m gunnu say. This Musial is one of the best musicals by far and people need to see that they have improved from last year and if you see them live like I did today then your mind will be blown
Watching these clips before seeing it in May this year (2014), I was quite apprehensive. After attending the show, I must say this footage of this production does it no justice. I enjoyed every moment of this show, and that's quite an achievement as I've been a fan(atic) of the film since the age of 4 and can be perhaps too critical of renditions of Rocky. Can't wait to see it again in July 2015!
I watched this last night craig Mclachlan was fantastic. He made the show when he interacted with the audience, so funny. It's all about how involved the audience is to the great experience.
I saw the show a couple of days ago and I absolutely loved it. I went in with no preconceived opinions about what I though it should be like or how the cast should play their roles. I just went and I really enjoyed it. And I thought Craig stole the show for me. He was brilliant.
This is so so incredible live. Craig McLachlan is honestly rivaling my adoration for Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the film. Have to add this to my favourites so I dont ever forget how he did my favourite Rocky Horror song!! But honestly, both of these songs are good here, but so much better live, I strongly suggest anyone who can go see the Australian tour to do so, because this video honestly doesn't give the performance justice.

In Sweet Tranvestite I feel like it could have been better. I think the actor was trying to do the Tim Curry impression on him. David Baddella (I think I spelled his name wrong) said that when he was playing Frank N. Furter he had to put his on spin on it so he went as far away from the Tim Curry accent as possible and made a new voice. I think the actor was trying to hard at the accent instead of making it his own performance.
Not only is this done completely wrong and is ear-splitting level awful, but they didn't to the bit at the end where Frank goes "So, come up to the lab.... And see what's on the slab..." They seriously cut out one of the bet parts of the whole song! I am not shivering with antici..... pation, I am shivering because of how TERRIBLE this performance was! Never again....... Tim Curry and the original cast members cannot ever me matched, but these people could at least try a bit harder. Just my opinion.

Yes, I saw the show and the program has a history of the show in Australia, and it said that he was Frank, but never Rocky
I can't be the only one who thought the sweet transvestite portion was terrible, right?
No it was pretty bad
William Leitch it was awful. soz
No especially with what has come out about him just recently about this show. Disgusting.

He like shouted the whole song. Didn't even try to give good vocals.

Agreed. Frank is too masculine, needs full-on feminist.
He’s a bit too young for Frank...I think that he would fit brad more honestly.
I guess this is last time Craig Maclachlin was playing the role.
