Thanks Dave - great tips. I feel that the exposure tip is my favourite. I tend to do this with all my night photography when I'm using the phone. It really helps with the colours.
Quick question can you say which presets specifically he was using? I appreciate the effort and videos you have done on your presets! Can’t think of a better way to present them than how you have in previous videos and guest creators 🤜🤛
Really super solid video!!! Photos looked great on my big tv too! Funny story round circle…. I have shunned taking iPhone photos for a long time. iPhone 12 to 14 I think did this weird subject exposure thing!?! That was just nasty imo so have chosen to not use my iPhone almost ever. The funny part, I actually started my photography business with an iPhone 11 :) . Will have to give my iPhone and shooting raw on it a try! Thanks for the info and inspo 💪
Might be worth mentioning that Photos (desk top or phone) will convert the RAW file to a JPEG unless you hit Export Unmodified Original. It's this unmodified file that you want to Import into Lightroom if you're going to edit the file in there. Meanwhile, a really useful video - I learned several things from it.
Dave, that would be super awesome if you can improve the sound in your videos, like do limiter and compression for both - your voice and music, so it sounds on the same level, thanks in advance
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even the telephoto lens on the iPhone is still a crop. Though it has its own camera and sensor, it’s still a fraction of the size compared to the main cameras sensor. Telephoto lens on the iPhone is a gimmick. They’re better off putting all of their technology into one larger, normal camera sensor and allowing people to digitally crop from there. That’s how Apple is able to get by with the three lenses being physically the exact same size.
Great Tip with the minus 1 on the exposure compensation.
Game changer
My understanding was that the telephoto on the 15pro is a 3X. The 2X being a crop from the main sensor.
This is correct. Never make videos when you’re exhausted. I use the 3x but had it backwards when I made this video.
@@davidherring haha. Thank you for all your effort and inputs. We appreciate it Dave.
Thanks! The best iPhone photography tips that I've ever seen. Best of the best.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for this Dave! Been waiting for this one. 😊
Glad I could deliver!
Love this video. Thanks for sharing Dave.
Thank you!

That exposure compensation is a game changer. All of my photos day or night look 100x better.
I’d love to see them add a shutter speed option
That would be so awesome.
Its coming soon in the Final Cut Camera App
Love it, more iPhone content please 🙏
I got you 💪🏼💪🏼

Zack uses VGP Portra 400 & VGP Vision3. Thanks for asking!

Give it a try! It’s not a bad camera for point and shoot moments.

Thanks for the feedback.
Is there an iPhone (pre)setting for dropping the clarity / sharpness?
No you have to do it in post in an editor. I use LR and I’m -10 to -20 and sharpening at 25 instead of the default 40.
Small correction: iPhone 15 pro has a 3x optical lens. So the 2x option is a digital crop.

Of course, but in some cases the phone is all you can have…. Like in this video. This video is about how to make it work.
@@davidherring the tip on taking away clarity is great.definitely improves photos. Are there any apps that allow the user to take away sharpness?
@@vermontmike9800 Dozens, but I specifically use LR so I made this about LR.
