I really enjoyed this video. I have a friend who lives in Keeler and go to Owens Valley often. If you haven’t been to Calico Ghost Town near Barstow you need to go there. Unbelievable photo opportunities- great cemetery, great scenery. Desert flowers in spring, old-fashioned Christmas decorations in December.
Great vid. I find cemeteries incredibly peaceful. All those people are at rest now and in eternal beatitude. We are the ones who still have to labour. Loved the image @ 22:40
After seeing your last video and then this one. I remember that's how I discovered your channel, the Q2 vs the A7RV. Love the shots you created and the video.
Dave, loved it! Eastern Sierra is my second favorite area to shoot. Sierras (Off the 120, 108, etc.) is my favorite for landscape! Looks like a great trip.
@@davidherring The hotel project in the winter time must be extremely tough. Hopefully when the hotel is completed you two will be in kahoots to document such a project! PS: Hope you had a great new years!
Used to go up there all the time fishing and camping Our astronomy club had tour of the radio telescopes we got to go inside and heard the signal from Voyager 😊😊
Thanks for bringing us along on your adventure! What a difference it makes to have multiple shooters that allows you to splice in all kinds of different footage - it really ups the production value. That M11/50 combo is something special. I just got back from a trip overseas and used my Q2 90% of the time. I'm seriously considering selling a bunch of Sony gear to help fund an M11 purchase. Videos like this don't help!! 🤣🤣
03:18 Seems like J.R.Bean was a freemason, very interesting. 05:36 I love this picture! Well done! 05:52 Stunning colors. Love the shot! 05:56 Yet simple but eyecatching! 06:12 Good eye! 06:57 Very beautiful, as 07:44. 09:06 What an amazing shot! You really inspire me to take out my M11 and go out to make some pictures as well. 10:25 Great shot! 11:14 I love it! Again great eye for composition 19:14 awesome shot! And 26:13 are my favourites so far. Thanks for taking us with you! By the way for how long do you shoot on leica and how do you like it so far? Is the SL2 yours as well?
Thanks for the detailed comment. This kind of comment really makes my day! I started shooting Leica in 2022 and I love it. I’m almost exclusively Leica now, with Sony only for video (and that’s changing, too). The SL2S is mine, picked it up a couple of months ago. That’s becoming my video camera as I’m moving from Sony. I love it! But I’m anxiously awaiting the SL3.
@@davidherring keep up the good work and keep pushing ! Your channel will get big soon enough with content like this. Especially with leica and your sympathic personality it is unique! Can't wait to see the SL3.
Great video. Next time, please hold a beat or two longer on each photo so we have time to fully appreciate the photo and still read the EXIF info next to it (thanks for including that!).
Happy new year from Germany. Really enjoy watching those landscape vids. Which presets are you using? Sorry for the question - I am new to your channel.

Kylie Dailey - A Tether Will Harrison - Hear Her Callin Finn Danniell - Twenty Two or More ELFL - Helium Drive ELFL - First Horizon Hampus Naeselius - My Moon and Your Sun Purple Dive - Flowerbed Sarah, the Instrumentalist - Habit Stacking Anders Schill Paulsen - Last Light Roy Edwin Williams - May Flowers Roy Edwin Williams - Gas Money
No issue here. Granted I didn’t throw it down in the sand and kept it in my jacket when it was raining, but I’ve been in all kinds of conditions and never had an issue.
@@davidherring I had an M10 and traded it for a SL2-S because body and SL lenses are IP52. But I’m missing it totally specifically the accuracy of the zone focusing and I’m thinking about getting an M11-P or Q3. The Q3 is also IP52 and has that awesome lens the macro functionality included… But Q3 has no internal SSD. Still have my trustworthy M6 sind the 1980’s 😊
@@davidherring PS: got also a APO Summicron SL 2/75. Since I have that combination, I shoot 99% with it. Portraits anyway but also landscape (lot of stitching in LrC 😉)
@rolandrickphotography yeah, ultimately you gotta just get what you need for the work you want to do and experience you want to have. For me, it’s the M. I had the Q2 but sold it. Wasn’t as much fun for me. Love taking the M everywhere.
@@davidherring Of course, but why the M system? It does not seem optimal, if one intends to use it in areas with a lot of dust and moisture. It would be like taking a Ferrari for off roading.
Great stuff as always.
Thank you!
listen bud, for a very long time im watching photography youtubers, you have given me the best experience by far! thank you
Oh man, that means a ton! Thank you!

Good thought! Thanks for sharing.
What a great watch during coffee.. Especially in Keeler. Neat video! Most enjoyable.
Thank you!
Saw this on my feed. Grabbed a coffee and soaked it all in. Really enjoyed this.
Awesome! Got another video like this one coming later this month.
Beautiful photos
Thank you kind sir!

Epic video and pictures! Thanks for inviting us along!
You’re amazing and thanks for the thumbnail!
Fantastic photos! Alabama Hills is ridiculously photogenic... I need to make another trip back out there.
Thank you! I love going out there.
Your videos are amazing. Happy to see your channel growing!
Thanks so much!
Great Video! Awesome footage. Happy New Year!
Thanks! Happy new year to you as well!
Considering picking up an M11 or an M6 for my first Leica experience ever. Have been binging your stuff and so excited to see a new drop. Thanks!
You can’t go wrong with either!
Amazing moments at the Trona Pinnacles.
It was unreal!
what a dope lil trip! gives me the itch to go out and shoot!
Heck yeah bro! Let’s do something sometime!
Love this video and the images. I’ve done the drive from LA to Bishop/Mammoth many times and didn’t realize what I was missing along the way!
Next time you do the drive be sure to stop some along the way! A lot of great stuff out there!
Happy new year Dave and friends. Another great video, what a great place to visit so many wonderful photos, really atmospheric and loads of character.

Great! Dave-did you do the filming on the SL2-S?
No, the Sony A7SIII for this one. Still learning the SL2S.

The Eastern Sierra's are so beautiful. Too bad it's hard to get to them from the Bay!
Another kick ass photography adventure from Dave. Love your in the field videos.
Thanks so much! I love doing these videos.
Really great Video and captures!
Nice Soundtrack too, which Interpret is it?
It’s various artists, all sourced from Epidemic Sound.
@GhostTownLiving Cerro Gordo looking amazing as always. You two should do a collab!
A dream. I DM’d him on IG a little before I went there but never heard back. He’s really busy I’m sure!

This is so righteous, and the shots are superb! I know this is Cali, but this makes me yearn to go back to Montana so bad haha

Awesome again Dave. That makes me wanna enter a plane and head West immediately 😂.
Haha it’s only a what, 10hr flight or so?
@@davidherring yes just a decision and a 10-11 hour flight. We‘ll see what happens in the future. I will let you know for sure in advance

Clever Supply Minimal! It’s my fav strap. So classic and ages awesome.

VGP 2024 preset? When will it be available for purchase?
Very exciting pipeline coming. Already have one the next one for the Patreon community!
Which camera was used to shoot this video??
Sony A7SIII and iPhone 15 Pro!
The Leica M’s are officially not dust and rain proof. No issue in the desert?

Don’t worry about the graves mate.
1000 years from now, some guy with a PhD will dig them and display them in a glass box call museum.

Desert and non-dust resistant super expensive camera and lenses. That does not sound like a good combination.

Haha truth
taking a Leica into the desert is like going with an S class off road...
Maybe a G-class. They’re nice to look at but very capable and can take the abuse.
A camera was made to be used. Took my Leica TL2 recently out into the streets of Las Vegas, the deserts in and around Death Valley, etc.
I got my camera to be used, so I use it!
