I am Dutch and live in the UK since 2010 ... one of the things I miss the most here? The urban planning of public spaces and roads🤐 Compared to the Netherlands, the UK is so incredibly backward🤨
i case you were never told . the uk , is no more then the barbarians at the gates of a civilized Europe . what are you even doing outside the fench ? get your ass back into Europe right now mr. !!!! Europe is warning you ... Europe will count to tree .... There will be consequences !!!! XD
It's always nice to see these kind of reactions to our country. It opens your eyes as a Dutchman to appreciate the things we have and do here more. Thanks for your reaction.
If something works, why not apply it throughout the Netherlands, and that is what is happening. It is even incorporated in the LAW that the infrastructure must meet certain requirements, such as the width of a road/cycle path and footpath etc. etc. There is a constant look at what can be made safer, with or without signs, signs on the roads/cycle paths etc. Many countries, including the USA, can CERTAINLY learn something from this, as it is a complete disaster there. How glad I am that I was born and raised here
Don't forget that it took decades for the NL to have all things designed to this level. Even if Brasil would start doing this road design, you are decades away of it becoming full functional
in the Netherlands we also have traffic lights , often on bussy intersections to direct traffic smoothly and safe , sometimes we also have traffic lights at places where there is ongoing road construction work .
afcorse we are not free of accidents , but those usually occur only when traffic laws , rules , regulations or social traffic etiquette and manners are not followt .
On the raised intersection, every party is equal (they all passing an exit bump technically). No right of way for right hand traffic and all have to stop. This to make urban 30kmh zones safer. The example in the video assumed that car had yield rights which it didn't.
trick is , to separate all the different forms of traffic as much as possible by giving each form of traffic its own lanes as well to make sure that the flow of traffic does not complete stop , but is moving constantly and smoothly . also to have strict traffic laws divided into sections each section covering a form of public traffic . but i admit , its not easy . it takes time to consider , plane and even more time and effort to create and put into practice . its also why we used to have traffic lessons on elementary schools and collages where children learnt about traveling on public roads , safety on public roads and traffic laws and regulations . also travel etiquette's for when traveling over public roads . or well desingt infrastructure and good traffic laws as wel maintenance of public infrastructure and mandating and upholding traffic laws is one of manny reasons we all pay tax .
yea , building a road is easy , but building a propper safe and long lasting road takes time , planning and effort and can be considert and infrastructural art . its the reason why we have a special goverment department for infrastructure .
The bike infrastructure in the netherlands is good. This means inside cities/ towns en between close villages its ok. What isnt ok in the netherlands is public transport. Yes in cities its ok…outside its a nightmare. Train from city station to city station is ok In smaller towns and between villages is a nightmare. Nothing like these videos tell you Bikes are a nightmare to The number of wounded bikers and even deaths is skyrocketing up last years. Bikers with serious braindammage flood hospitals.
@@jsb7975 Holland and the Netherlands are in fact, not the same. It is USED the same by many ignorant people, but officially it's the Netherlands, and ONLY the Netherlands. You, as a Noord-Brabander are also, not living in Holland. Logically, as you don't live in Holland. You do live in the Netherlands though. You do you though, but know you are wrong when you say you are from Holland. Kindergarten level knowledge too, you should know this..
See you 2 soon in the netherlands

You should come to our country and check it out yourself. We be happy to have you. Greets from the Netherlands.
Remember that almost all car drivers are cyclists too. They know how vulnerable cyclists are so most car drivers pay attention to cyclists.
