Dutch were first builders/inhabitants of New York when it was called New Amsterdam. We, after war with the English, lost it but kept Surinam and the isle Run in the Molukans (good trade I think)
@@pim1234We all know that but that wasn't the topic, furthermore Nieuw Amsterdam was not sold to the USA but to the British, and was traded (again; not sold!) for Suriname at the Treaty of Westminster in 1674, after it was first taken by force as retaliation.

Am I correct to assume you come from Brazil, I am still a Dutch citizen, but live in Melbourne, Australia for the last 50 years, however my heart is still in the country of my birth, greetings to you Gerard.
In 2004 i had a short flight to bristol in england from Amsterdam, only takes about an hour, on landing we where told by the captain that the co polit had flown, Prince Willem Alexander. Kinda cool, i was transported by our own current king.
Lots of things still forgotten here, what else was invented in Holland for example? Compact Disc, DVD, Blu-Ray, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi are all Dutch inventions.
I think we Dutch often forget how good we have it. I live on a fixed income due to disability. Below the minimum wage. And though it is sometimes hard, and I have to seriously watch my spending, I’m still able to live relatively comfortable. And yeah, it’s tough. But in many many other countries, I’d for sure be worse off.
Seems overall the facts given are all about right even if many are oversimplified. I wanted to respond on some but this video just contains to many, Few things I do want to mention though There is the mention of the high happiness, there will be most likely be a number of Dutch in the comment over time saying how this is not true and everything sucks. This is also typical Dutch behavior, we are world champions complaining. This however is how we became the succesful, rich, somewhat prospering country we are, we complain and things change. You want things to change, you voice what you want changed, if enough people make their voice heard, things change.
For some of us Dutch its good for them to watch expats in the Netherlands. To see true there foreigners eyes how wel its over here in the Netherlands. But also a big yes,we need to complain over our country. No need to stall in that.
Tbf I dont really think thats how it works. I dont think in the past all we did was complain. Just complaining wouldn't have led to all these great inventions and us becoming one of the richest countries in the world. It was all about acknowledging there is a problem and then try to solve it instead of just complaining
@@littleDutchie92 Of course how I say it is an oversimplification of things. But all those great inventions started with someone complaining they weren't able to do something right? "I need a better way to play my music" .. And there was the cassette tape, "I can't measure the car speed correctly" .. boom Speedcamera. I don't say it is "just complaining", I say, our tendency to complain a lot triggers our progress in many ways. Take our bike infrastructure, we can literally thank that to people complaining about the bad traffic and many traffic kills. Without the demonstrations in the 70's we would have followed the USA and be car dependent instead of being the cycle capital of the world. Complaining works.
No its not like trailers: the go from small 40m2 too 2 story 120m2, it is like a villa on the water. or there old river boots converted to houses. They are pretty expensive to live in mostly.
I swear, if I were a millionaire, I would bring the two of you over to Europe for a few years and take you to every country and as many places as I could. Unlike the typical tourist who only wants some cool pics for "the gram", to go to the beach, eat and shop, you really, really appreciate everything. Wonderful things that too many people take for granted fill you with wonder and amazement and that's so good to see!

We are one world after all. It is a good thing you have an open mind to other countries. We'll all benefit when we inspire each other. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Dude, don't be so cynical. Asylum seekers in Ter Apel are literally sleeping on the streets. Don't act like they have a great live. Most of them fled war.
New York , Indonesian , Australia, South Africa, Nederlands Antilles, Bonaire, Curaçao’ was once Dutch territory. Now I live in New Zealand which was discovered by the Netherlander Able Tasman.
And if you are wondering how they are paying for all of that. Natural gas, before this discovery the netherlands wasn't as rich, people tend to forget that sometimes, a country gets lucky.
The video you react to is 100% written by ChatGPT xD most facts are correct, although a bit nuanceless... but just the wording and the endless positivity is extremely ChatGPT-like xD Tbf, a lot of those amazing luxuries we have over here in the Netherlands and other first world countries, we mostly got from colonialism. I feel super priviledged to be living here, but I feel like we should be helping more others. There's a big asylum-crisis going on right now, because so many people from northern Africa and the Middle East are either fleeing an unsafe situations (war, terrorism...) or are just seeking a better life. We have a small country, we can't house them all, but it feels unfair, since we have it so good over here.
In Netherlands about our bags in Supermarkets. We’ve always bring our own big shopper bags that are made from fibers cuz you can stuff ALLOT of products in it and you don’t have to buy multiples plastic bags cuz its bad for the environment.
Yeah, in almost all professional sporting events, Dutch people wear orange. Frankly, it's just simpler than a flag suit. Consciously or subconsciously that would be something you'd have to decode in your mind to see what's what. And I don't mean literal flag, but oftentimes you do see attire reusing the flag's palette and if it's not something you're used to seeing you end up having to figure it out by trying to match it up in your mind.
We Dutchies did solve a lot of problems and now have a pretty high and happy level of living, but that also comes with tax consequences like 50% income tax, (more or less) and everything is taxed. We pay taxes over taxes on the energy for instance. But all that money does go to proper roads without potholes, water management, social safetynet, proper health care etc. So many people say "you guys are so rich" or "you're not poor" but we do have poverty too. You just don't see it in the "facts video's" because nobody wants to show their bad side. We too have homelessness, we too have drug addicts, and we too have people living just below the poverty line... having to go to the foodbanks for food etc. So yeah, we are a rich country, and we have a lot of innovative stuff and good ideas, good export, but there are housing shortages, youth mental health waiting lists from the Nethrelands to Tokyo. And some other problems to solve. It's a nice fact video, but for sure doesn't show any negatives ;-)
Another fun fact: in 1652 the dutch ate their prime minister because they weren't happy with him. He declined the poor people from food and yeah, they took revenge
to the poor remark in between 24 & 25. poor is relative. No in the Netherlands in general aren't poor (classes) of people like in brazil. However as life cost, taxes, insurances, living, health, cars etc. are more expensive to buy than in for this case brazil. A for brazilian definition of lower middle class earnings, can classify in the netherlands as poor.
@@3rdworldpeoplereact If you at any time have an addresse were we can send something to just let it know here and I will send you something. And I am sure that more people will do so.
Tulips are originally from Turkey, not the Netherlands. They just seem to grow a lot better here. I have 3 pairs of klompen, yes I do use mine. Although to be fair it's more to take out the trash then anything else. Easier then to put on your shoes and your feet won't get as dirty as when you use flip flops. A good addition is stones and other junk won't be able to hurt you. Giethoorn has ONLY canals and NO ROADS. English is not the first language, however it is a official language regardless. Primary language is Dutch, secondary is Frisian (which is spoken in the province of Friesland). The country has many official languages, but most are added recently thanks to woke culture (which clearly isn't a good sign in this case as it makes dialects suddenly languages while they are not) Beschuit met muisjes needs some additional context. For a boy you would use blue and white, for a girl you use pink and white. However you have various other color variants for other occasions and reasons. Orange being only sold around the king's birthday and not on other days for example. 3:41 "Fierljeppen" as it's called in Frisian where this sport originates from. In Dutch it's called "polstokspringen" and English it uses the Frisian word strangely enough. But can also be named "canal vaulting". The idea is to run towards that pole and use your momentum to have the pole move forward while you climb to the top to make as much distance as possible. It however originates with farmers that wanted to keep their feet dry when trying to cross a narrow canal between 2 pieces of land. Instead of placing bridges they decided to use a pole instead. We used to pay for plastic bags, but then the woke agenda had to be pushed so we don't have any plastic bags anymore. I use a backpack to carry my groceries for years already, so i'm not directly affected though. Dutch Antilles being not too far away from Brazil obviously. It's a flight of just a few hours even. Efteling is build before Disney was even a thing. Disney even stole a lot of the rides and ideas from the Efteling and tries to this day to shut down Efteling to make sure no one finds out. Herring is gross, I throw up within 2 minutes after eating it. I prefer kibbeling myself. Which is battered chunks of fish fried. I prefer tea, I can't stand coffee haha. Anti-flooding systems didn't start with the delta-works project. It started at least 1500 years before if not before that. This by making simple hills so people could escape the floods. The Dutch flag is the original tri-color flag, then France stole it and after that many other nations. All tri-color flags are based upon the Dutch design. Yes, canal boats are owned by people who indeed are living on these boats. Amsterdam is however not the only city that has people living on boats. You can find similar boats in England, but those are not for living so far I'm aware. Also the British variants are way smaller and more narrow. For living in trailers, well the Dutch are known for traveling during summer holidays with their caravans (trailer houses pretty much) to other countries. Floating houses are a thing as well, these do not have a engine but are held in place by poles. They can rise and lower with the tides without any issues. Correction regarding coffeeshops or rather the well known product they sell. Technically it is ILLEGAL in the Netherlands. However the police won't bother you if you have 5 grams or less with you are are smoking in one of these shops or at home. It's however tourists that really enjoy it the most.
@@ajaxamsterdam9095 Of course, as am I, that wasn't the question tho. Being proud on something, like being Dutch, French or British or being white or black, short or tall are things you hadn't do anything for other then being born, which is an achievement of your mom (and dad).
As a Dutchman there are a coupke things to consider. 1 The Netherlands is very small. (18mil population and also in land area it is really small) Obviously it is easier to manage a smaller operation than a bigger operation. Another thing is that Dutch are the best complainers on the planet. They will always find something that could be better, and they will name it as well. This makes them better, but also less pleasant ;)
The orange is because they were once the rulers of the city of Orange in France. Orange sounds very similar to Dutch oranje, the colour. Dutch cuisine is not that good.
4:21 it is actually bullshit... you buy drinks in plastic bottles, buy bread in plastic bags, milk and such in plastick packages, but the bags you take them home in are bad for the environment.. uuhuu..
Nice video. But currently we are also making a lot of mistakes that need to be fixed. Mostly with an overflow of asylum seekers from Islamic countries who will never assimilate fully. The cultures are way to different. But we do need immigrants for jobs but we make it very hard for people of South America to come and live here where their culture is pretty similar to ours. We also make it difficult for Asian people who are often Buddhist and again their culture has much more in common with ours. We recently had new elections and the party that is against these Islamic asylum seekers is the biggest political party now. What we should do is keep them all out and let people who want to work and have a pretty similar cultural background in.
Apenas a minha opinião, claro. Eu amo seus vídeos! Saudações da Holanda!
But.... as a Dutchman I have always loved the Brazilian team and the Netherlands never won the World Cup. Brazil won it 5 times! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💪🎉 Forza Brasil!
2:37 What the actual f***. I've been there a number of times and I have never in my life heard anyone refer to Giethoorn as "The Venice of the North". I think he got his little factoids confused there, because The Venice of the North is indeed a very well known alias, but not for that; for Amsterdam. Amsterdam is called that. And, fun fact, it actually has more canals than the real Venice. A lot more.
That's a no. Where Amsterdam is much bigger and has a lot of canals it also has a lot of roads. Giethoorn has very few roads. So the Venice of the North is most definitely Giethoorn.
The Netherlands is much more than the two Holland provinces they mainly showed you here. They showed you part of Rotterdam when they mentioned Amsterdam; I mean the red bridge in the left background. You have to pay for plastic bags in shops and supermarkets so you bring your own. Oh yes, there are more poor people than you think. Poor to dutch standards but they get support by governmental subsidies for healthcare, living etc. Nature is under severe threat and in bad shape. Almost all dutch names were pronounced quite wrongly but ok he tried. Gouda is pronounced as gowdah. Gow like in cow.
The secret to social democracies, europe style, is taking care of your citizens at the expense of the third world via unequal exchange and destabilisation, but they're vulnerable to the same class of aggressive capitalists and fascists that are curently running the US (for example). They still do the same exploitation the US does, but take care of themselves, or at least used to. As mentioned, maintaining those social policies AND constant growth isn't viable when your military, industrial and economic power is waning on the global stage, and so everywhere in Europe we see rollback on social policies, and a rise of fascists.
I am confused how you consider yourself a 3rd world country? ... perhaps you should research these terms: first, second and third world countries. From my European perspective you are not 3rd world nation. Most of the nations in your area are not. Kudos to you citizens. You sound coming from the Southern Americas. Anyone who ever told you you are a 3rd world country... at this time... is utterly mistaken. Besides... what an utterly disrespectfull way to look at other countries like this.
A 3th world is a poor country. Thst has terrible life conditions, less to zero opportunities, lots of poverty, unstsble etc. Which brazil is. Its by definition a 3th world
Belgium is worth visiting too! I joke that Flanders is to the Netherlands a bit like what is Austria to Germany. More catholic, better food, a common but distinct and somewhat old fashioned version of the common language. Wallonia offers more French influences. Brussels is seat to the EU and NATO. Antwerp is a beautiful city, as are Gent and Brugge.
Well... I'm Dutch and I'm unfit for work.. (PTSD) And I can't buy the food I really need... healthy food! Because I live on benefits I'm pretty poor compared with healthy people who can work. So my food is pretty much all cheap fast food that I bake in the oven... fries and hamburgers. No money for healthy food. And healthy food is getting even more expensive over here. But part of the problem is also... I'm very lonely.. no family... few friends because most people just can't understand what PTSD is and does to a person so they think I'm crazy or something. So I have 2 cats to not feel lonely... And they get the best food while I live on fries and hamburgers. I'm not gonna go cheap on my cats... so for having cats to not be so lonely I have to pay a price. Give my cats the best food and for myself I have to take the cheapest stuff I can find.. not only with food. Also with clothes and toothpaste and showergel and stuff.. the cheapest I can find. Because of this my hair feels like straw!!!!!😅 But hey.... it could be worse.🤷 At least I have food.. not healthy food.. but at least it fills my stomach! In 3rd world countries some people have an empty stomach for days! So I'll just live with it.🤷 At least I found a hobby recently that can give me some extra money from time to time so I can buy a healthy chicken ceasar salad once every few weeks.👍 I'm always looking to make some extra money with hobbies the legal way. Because I don't wanna end up in prison I'm not gonna go the criminal path to get some extra money. Did that... never again! It just makes me feel sick about myself. I'm so proud of myself that I didn't do anything criminal in the last 10 years! I was a master shoplifter and scooter/moped thief... But I'm trying to like myself again... I can't like myself if I would still do shoplifting and stuff! 😅 It's not easy and I'm depressed but lile I said... it could be worse if I look at other countries.

Sure you can find some footage on YT!!
6:21 raw herring, my good lady.. Salted, raw herring with unions :D deliciuos!!
How different, we don't have anything like that here, it looked incredible
I think we Dutch often forget how good we have it. I live on a fixed income due to disability. Below the minimum wage. And though it is sometimes hard, and I have to seriously watch my spending, I’m still able to live relatively comfortable. And yeah, it’s tough. But in many many other countries, I’d for sure be worse off.
Seems overall the facts given are all about right even if many are oversimplified. I wanted to respond on some but this video just contains to many, Few things I do want to mention though
There is the mention of the high happiness, there will be most likely be a number of Dutch in the comment over time saying how this is not true and everything sucks. This is also typical Dutch behavior, we are world champions complaining. This however is how we became the succesful, rich, somewhat prospering country we are, we complain and things change. You want things to change, you voice what you want changed, if enough people make their voice heard, things change.
There are countries much worse than the Netherlands, if only they would realise that... but the Dutchies like to complain, 😅
Exactly, that's what I say to Americans, instead of moving to another country, make your voice heard!
Top video again, thanks. , greetings from the Netherlands
We do have many poor and homeless people in the Netherlands. And there are coming more and more.
Greetings from the Netherlands, great reaction!
Hi sweethearts...
Best wishes to you and your loved ones and lots of love and respect and greetings from me in Amsterdam the Netherlands 😊❤❤❤
Thank you very much, you are so kind 😍
Much love and peace from Brazil ❤️❤️
No its not like trailers: the go from small 40m2 too 2 story 120m2, it is like a villa on the water. or there old river boots converted to houses. They are pretty expensive to live in mostly.
Don't forget The Netherlands hat a piece of Brasil to in 1630 to 1654 there was a dutch coleny there called Nova Holanda.
I swear, if I were a millionaire, I would bring the two of you over to Europe for a few years and take you to every country and as many places as I could.
Unlike the typical tourist who only wants some cool pics for "the gram", to go to the beach, eat and shop, you really, really appreciate everything.
Wonderful things that too many people take for granted fill you with wonder and amazement and that's so good to see!
dont have to be a milionaire. just throw away ur pasports visit Ter Apel and come live here. You will get language lessons insurances and within two years ull get a house. .From there on, you can live ur dream
Thank you very much, your comment was so nice. 🥰
One day we will visit this beautiful country, it may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but one day it will happen. Let's not lose hope. Thanks for watching ❤️
Watch: How The Netherlands feeds the world
Greetings from Amsterdam the Netherlands! ❤
A Dutch saying is, do not stop water, but let it in.
The Dutch also invented BlueTooth
This is just a fraction. WiFi and Bluetooth is invented here and also the submarine.
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹Greetings from The Netherlands. I'll bet Dutch companies have been in your country making infratsructure better hired by your governement.
Nice to meet you.
We also made photography possible, radio, internet, computers, phones
Salvador de Bahía used to be a Dutch colony and were appreciated by the locals, even up to this day the region is proud of it's Dutch heritage.
I am from Holland greetings ♥️
If you have a PO box, i would send you some 'klompen'. Greetings from the Netherlands!
WOW That would be adorable! 😍😍😍
We don't have a PO box yet, but we will try to resolve this issue.

Tbf, a lot of those amazing luxuries we have over here in the Netherlands and other first world countries, we mostly got from colonialism.
It's a really nice idea. Now we have our eco bags too, they are huge and some have beautiful prints. 👏👏👏
Poor people, we have poor people to. Greetings, Roelof.
I love your facial expressions hahahaha If I was rich I would invite you to visit us on my expense
to the poor remark in between 24 & 25.
poor is relative.
No in the Netherlands in general aren't poor (classes) of people like in brazil.
However as life cost, taxes, insurances, living, health, cars etc. are more expensive to buy than in for this case brazil.
A for brazilian definition of lower middle class earnings, can classify in the netherlands as poor.
...And still we Dutch people will find _something_ to complain about.
Fun fact about going Dutch.. we have an app to share the bill
still i miss ... the firehose...bleutooth ...wifi... cd and so on and so on....
love from Holland
3:00 is it though, I thought we Dutchies were known to have no spices in most dishes XD we do but yeah stereotypical
Blutooth is a Dutch invention as well...
Also fun fact, the Dutch are the inventors of Wifi, bluetooth and the recording tape like cassette and video.
OMG, we had no idea! What would the world be like without the Dutch?! Amazing country 👏👏👏
If you have a po box I will send you some items from the netherlands to try and to respond to.
For real?? It would be lovely! 😀😀
We don't have a PO box yet, but let's try to see how it works here.

The country has many official languages, but most are added recently thanks to woke culture (which clearly isn't a good sign in this case as it makes dialects suddenly languages while they are not)
Beschuit met muisjes needs some additional context.
The country of New Zealand’s name come from the dutch province of Zeeland (pronounced Zay-land)
I am proud to be Dutch!
Why, did you had to do anything to achieve your Dutch nationality?
Or are you proud of your country, people and their achievements?
@@laziojohnny79 The Netherlands is one of the best countries to live in. I am proud of that.
(18mil population and also in land area it is really small)
Obviously it is easier to manage a smaller operation than a bigger operation.
Another thing is that Dutch are the best complainers on the planet. They will always find something that could be better, and they will name it as well. This makes them better, but also less pleasant ;)
I wish you had the influence to change your own country to a first world country, Brazilia is amazing!!!
The orange is because they were once the rulers of the city of Orange in France. Orange sounds very similar to Dutch oranje, the colour.
Dutch cuisine is not that good.
The Dutch invented WIFI and bluetooth
I am afraid that the rich people in 3 rd world countries, wil never help the people. They help only themselves.
In Holland the government works better. En the rest what Benjibuddy says is True 🤣🤣

Dont forget we also pay allot of taxes most of all of europe!
Lots of taxes but has a lot of quality of life ❤️❤️❤️
What we should do is keep them all out and let people who want to work and have a pretty similar cultural background in.
caramel? 😭 its appel saus
Can't believe they didn't mention Disney taking inspiriration from the efteling.

Apenas a minha opinião, claro.
But.... as a Dutchman I have always loved the Brazilian team and the Netherlands never won the World Cup. Brazil won it 5 times!

A lot more.
Nope. Giethoorn is definitely widely referred to as the Venice of the North. Even more so than Amsterdam

Almost all dutch names were pronounced quite wrongly but ok he tried.
Gouda is pronounced as gowdah. Gow like in cow.
compilation of Dutch platitudes, exaggerated promotional talk that does not reflect the average situation in the Netherlands. Randstad centrism
Its by definition a 3th world
Do belgium because people overlook belgium even belgium is more beautiful if you compare it to the Nederland
What a bullshit
Well... I'm Dutch and I'm unfit for work.. (PTSD)
And I can't buy the food I really need... healthy food!
Because of this my hair feels like straw!!!!!😅
But hey.... it could be worse.🤷
At least I have food.. not healthy food.. but at least it fills my stomach!

So I'll just live with it.🤷

I'm always looking to make some extra money with hobbies the legal way.
Because I don't wanna end up in prison I'm not gonna go the criminal path to get some extra money.
Did that... never again!
It just makes me feel sick about myself.
I'm so proud of myself that I didn't do anything criminal in the last 10 years!
