  • Do you wonder if you should hit open stance forehands or stick with a neutral stance?
Many coaches on RUclips will make you believe that you should hit primarily with a fully open stance.
That is non-sense and the truth is very simple: You need to use the right stance at the right time in the right situation!
In this video OTI Instructor Gregg le Sueur discusses situations in which the neutral stance is best as well as situations in which the open stance is more useful.
He shows in a case-study how he works with a student on key aspects to make these stances effective in different situations!

Excellent. Where are the two videos he talks about at the beginning of the video?

Dealing with the same issues with my 13yr old: left hand opens up too early on both, the OS as well as CS. When practicing on court, she can control the left hand, can do the lag - then - step with Right foot (Closed stance) but during actual matches, when the heat is on, it all goes back to the old ways. I can imagine, this will take 1000’s of hits to create that new muscle memory but on the meantime I am pretty frustrated.....
    Nice coaching btw!
