folks like to say SU tubas dont crank...but all my years of marching I swear they were the most powerful tuba section I ever sat across from. And this was back when they had the all white fiberglass tubas.
That lowest note is actually called a pedaltone and every brass instrument has its own but it’s hardest to hit on tuba, I can hit it but I can’t get it as loud as he does
@@valerialee7176 I used it one of the songs one time and when the band directors finally found out, which took them almost two months, it was hilarious
as a classical symphony musician this kind of playing is totally outside of my experience and understanding, BUT.... Good for them! It's a lot of fun to listen to. And you've got all these young people channeling their energy into a positive activity. I bet it's even more fun to see them march on the field. Bravo! Keep it up!
That's Felix. He holds it down 99.9% of the time. I got to meet him one time on a band trip and this character is funny. 100% serious but funny. Its incredible how loud he can play his sousaphone.

+Itz Rehab only thing white are su cheap tubas kmsl nd I'm blacker than u are but have fun playing those toilet bowls while we perfect our selves on these 20k's
+Itz Rehab i wouldn't even worry about him because he likes grambling ...and we all know their hole band is the toilet bowl of the swac...only reason you can here grambling tubas is because the hole band sound like a 90s tape player "NO POWER"
Just imagine what Whitehorse would sound like if they make the switch to FULL BRASS. And if they do, you already know it's probably going to be either 20ks with that saxophone - like sound and .734 bore, take further advantage of that deal with YAMAHA and get some 411s, which were modeled after said 20ks but with long action valves, or stay with KING and upgrade to some 2350s. Either way, SU Whitehorse is becoming 1 of the most technical sousa sections out right now.
Conn-Selmer recently started making custom lacquer sousaphones with a black lacquer finish. If SU were to get either Kings or Conns, they can convince Conn-Selmer to make custom white lacquer sousaphones just for Whitehorse. Same with Yamaha, although they don't do custom lacquer for their sousaphones. If SU gets some 411s from them, they can then have Yamaha take them to a custom brass lacquer joint to have them finished with a custom white lacquer that will fool ANY marching band.
8/4/2020: Love those tuba guys.....especially this black brother on the end here. He be playing the crap out that tuba. Yall some badassssesssss. Sending ALOHA & LOVE FROM HAWAII.
You should definitely try it… I play tuba it’s the best thing in the world but like I’m in a all white band so we don’t play things like that so I’m just admiring talent
I have to agree with you there. I'm a ol head tuba player from way back. Played on fiberglass and metal. SU been crankin like that on them pea- shooters for years. If they ever change to some large bore Conns or Yamahas, argue all you want but its pretty much over.
The Man Awsome there's another term I'm looking for. it deals with trumpets also. so if you're playing and using only your mouth/lips to change notes/tones. what's that called?
TheHashSlingingSlasher Right. Now that it's out of y'all playbook. Could you possibly pass it on for a little ole high schooler. I have been waiting to ask
