All songs of the album should describe the first 18 years of ones live and how they shape you, right?
If I read the lyrics with this in mind, they taste a little different. That line also holds anger against those who made you internalize guilt.
And Christianity has really specialized in putting guilt and shame into people. 🙄
Hetfield's for sure is lirically spitting out the recent shit of his life and he's doing it on the top of his game. I love the lyrics, and knowing that it probably's talkin' about his divorce, this little following piece, taste delicious:

The TikTok video was a teaser. It was meant to be a teaser. A teaser doesn’t give you the full aspect of a song it gives you a sample. It is to build hype and temptation to want to see and hear more.

What do you guys think about the production quality / style of this album, compared to other more resent albums? To me it sounds really clear, natural and heavy - i like it a lot really!
I really like the production overall, seems pretty similar to Hardwired album production to me. The bass is a bit more audible in the mix which I like as well.

I find it funny just because James says a word from their past that people think it’s him “bringing it back” to a newer song like he couldn’t let it go or something. The word Temptation is just the word that fits this song.

I fucking love the main riff, James' vocals sound amazing, drumming is solid, but Kirk's solos recently... I don't know, I prefer his lead tones and melodies during the songs, but his solos recently sound empty and generic.
I thought this one was better for the solo.
This song is going to be a nut crusher live if they play it. Its catchy as anything. Whenever Metallica plays newer material live it always sounds a million times better then what's recorded.

@Josh Brewer Not to me personally it doesn't. I don't take the comment lightly. I'm somewhat surprised I say it as I've been listening to metal for over 50 years and never imagined I'd stumble on a band like Lovebites. Been following Metallica since they began.

This song is great! Sort of like how I would imagine a song off the album after ...And Justice For All would have sounded like in another time-line where they didn't go with Bob Rock lol.. The band are really at the top of their game right now! Maybe Kirk should have been a bit more compositional with his solos from the songs I've heard so far ( they sound a little bit TOO improvisational to me, relying on that wah-pedal too much), but other than that they are on fire!!

I can't blame Dave where the black album and every album up to this new one is concerned. They went soft during that time. But so far the new album is redeeming them. Atleast for me

They have to realize what made them great was tempo changes, power, thematic tunes. All of these songs have been pretty straight forward. I wish there were more tempo changes and some actual thrash/speed involved in some songs.
Thrash is dead ask all the other old Thrash bands ... it died in the 80s

Music in the 80’s and 90’s was entirely dictated by media. As the internet matured and fans were able to freely explore what they want vs. what a cooperation wanted to sell…most genres flourished. They are thrash bands everywhere. Along with death metal, groove metal, and every type of metal you can think of.
I think a better way of framing that is cooperate thrash died in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Thrash is still strong.
My point above is some key elements that made Metallica amazing and groundbreaking are no longer found in their music. Or, very little at best.

Great reaction! You guys always do a great job! I never really listened to metal much until the likes of Lovebites, Nemophila, BandMaid, etc. I decided to try this, as like you say, they are the known Kings. No disrespect intended, but I am kind of disappointed, or more accurately, maybe I'm just spoiled from all the awesome Japanese female talent out there! IMO, the Kings have been overthrown by a bunch of girls! BandMaid (and others mentioned) are well on their way to world domination! I guess all these young ladies are "Nannies" (female G.O.A.T.S.)!
Only thing I don't like in the song is when the band goes half time during the solo. The groove doesn't feel right. Other then that, I dig this song. Especially James' vocals, the main riff and the chorus. Is that keyboard I hear playing over the outro?
The half time caught me off guard the first time. It felt better the 2nd time.

After listening to Justice Day this is a snoozer
Disappointed as always with Metallica’s new stuff. They will always be my favorite band and I appreciate their longevity and adaptability but the music just doesn’t make me feel like it used to. Disposable Hero’s, Four Horseman,etc. was life changing music for me, and this is just garbage.

@Lance Goodthrust Well, I will stick around giving my opinion since the band has gone public with their sorry attempt at doing something useful. I think they could be relevant but something is leading them the wrong way, Metallica has a history of mental instabillity as a band. They kicked out Dave Mustain because James was afraid of him, that means something. I think fear plays a role. Thank you Lance for trying to be useful, dont give up, try again!

Kirk needs to leave the band or start doing ANYTHING worth fucking anything, Lars needs to learn to write interesting drum parts, James...is ok, but needs to learn to write lyrics again (these are so fucking amateur and borderline corny/cringe)
Only things that remain good in this band are James' voice and Rob's bass..

I'll take the contrarian view here. This song is barely passable from a garage band. It's just generic metal at best.
