I always felt that Chinchilla represents someone that walked before him, not with him and she didn't make it through. Hence, the flickering lights and her sudden appearance. As if Ren and his music and what he was expressing called her forward. Then, the sudden black out as she sings the last line, being left to wonder if Ren followed her into the abyss.

The terror of degenerative diseases, that one day out of a thousand, when you feel okay, afraid to move because being perfectly still causes no pain. To lay there and absorb what it feels like to not hurt...for just a little while.
Going to sleep because in dreams I can walk around, run, climb, jump...dream.
Knowing that today is the best day of the rest of my life, and today is pain.
The struggle of this song reaches my core.

The best musical “siblings”. Ren has called her his sister from another mister and a female version of himself due to their similar approach to music. For me I think it shows in the fact that they both have that something special that draws you in and demands attention. To see it fully for Chinchilla, check out her live version of Fingers.
This song always reminds that one of the (many) things that makes Ren so great is his ability to know exactly when to be complex, keep it simple, or even use silence to get his message across. He isn’t flexing his guitar skills in this, just playing exactly what is needed with that beautiful guitar tone. And my favourite line in this is so simple, totally devoid of all the clever metaphors that he is so good at using, but it hits soooo hard: “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I think anyone who has been through any struggles can relate to that feeling of not trusting that anything good will last. You can’t just enjoy it because you’re busy worrying about how long it will last and the feeling that will come when it’s gone. And then good days just make the darkness feel so much worse because you remember the light that’s gone… Ren is so special. He keeps being so relatable that it reminds us that we’re not alone. And we will always make room for more RENegades down the Ren rabbit hole cause we all need his light in the darkness 🐰🕳️
If you want more emotional singing from Ren, please check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and beautiful. And very different from everything else in his catalogue.

Said this on a few reactions. Rabbit holes for me imply darker and darker places, bunkering one to reality.
For me Ren is the opposite - he’s opening minds to new clearer vistas, while inspiring free questioning thinking.
If it’s got be a hole - so be I.

I am 62 years old in 2017-2018 I lost ten close family members (all for different health or age reasons), at the same time I also had health issues with my heart and I became depressed and had anxiety. I then had an auto accident where someone crashed into the side of me rolling my vehicle, they were uninsured. I aggravated an old back injury and am now still struggle with my back as a result. Until then I had always been active and fit and enjoyed life, but coupled with the physical health issues and now I have the start of vascular dementia, I struggle to lift out of my low mood. I have tried 6 different anti-depressants over a period of three and half years, slowly increasing dosages as per the doctor's prescriptions after checking my progress, and couldn't get in with any of them. They all made me feel disconnected from my emotions, I didn't feel happiness or sadness, I wasn't passionate about anything, I didn't look forward to anything, just an 'in limbo' sort of feeling. I can also totally relate to the not trusting the good days because you know how fragile they are. Your comments gave me a lot to think about, thank you.

I have honestly lost track of how many people, from all around the world and from all walks of life, that have found solace and , for lack of a better word, companionship, in listening to Ren. His rawness and unabashed honesty, though difficult and painful, has opened up a community of people who felt unseen and unheard. , I’ve read the words of so many men who have spent their lives shoving their traumas and emotions down as deeply as they could and then…listening to Hi Ren - they were cracked open and flooded by tears.

Ren is so intricate in the way he thinks. I didn't realize there was a reason for the loud chair, but of course, with Ren there is...Cherophobia, (the fear of happiness, involves a fear of happiness so deep that it affects the activities of your daily life). The amount of knowledge he has is unreal.

Always love your reactions 😊 You should check out "How To Be Me" live by Ren and Chinchilla. They are so so good together and of course the content is deep. And if you haven't checked out Chinchilla alone, she just released a brand new song called "1:5" (pronounced ratio of 1 to 5). Her live version is simply a stunning, jaw dropping ballad. ❤️‍🔥
Fun facts about Chinchilla, (fans are called chillybeans) she wears those long nails and usually makes hats and her own outfits to help beat down her stage fright. She said the nails 💅 in particular make her feel powerful. She also went on The Voice UK 2023 where she shares a snippet of her back story before she Raps (yep she can rap 😆) so that's a good watch and Ren took her busking a few times to also help her stage fright as she had never done anything like that. So there are those videos too 😊 most of the busking are covers but it's amazing to watch them feel n feed off each other, so powerful knowing she is learning and experiencing from him. As always, looking forward to more content 🤗
P.S. she is currently an independent artists, and her live versions are usually one takes as well.

"Zombie, crawl in my bed and NOT want to wake up anymore, emotionally dead, numb, side effects, clouded mind, empty, going through all of this *alone* ... "
You can´t even imagine how *often* i have these thoughts and feelings. That´s what decades with severe chronic depression and loneliness can do to a human being.

I imagine both Ren and Chinchilla as ghosts, all in white, haunting their way around the places they died. Somehow they run into each other and whale out their sorrow and pain in hauntingly beautiful song. Then I imagine after they sing they go on with being ghost ...I wonder how many times they have ran into each other and sing this song. Ghosts lost in the pain and fear thats still gripping them even in death ...but thats just the story I made to go along with this. Its one of my favorite Ren songs. I have cried to it so many times.
    I love your reaction videos.

The part about “take it just in case” “I’m scared of feeling okay” (not that you’re wrong) are specific with certain medications. For example, adderall, I might wake up and feel okay but the self talk/my thoughts/voice in my head always convinces me that I should “take it just in case”

Ren really makes a good duo with Chinchilla; good lyrics, good music and, as we are used to, a single camera shot. Everything is very credible: The place, the rawness and the interpretation of both.
Although it is difficult to psychologically analyze those that he does not narrate, without losing sight of the musical part. I think Ren and Chinchilla have good chemistry; they will show it to you in other songs together. Whenever someone performs with Ren... he makes it shine, demonstrating his empathy and humility.
Great job and great reaction!! As usual.

I believe just as in ‘hi Ren” the flickering of the lights indicated another part of himself. Even although chinchilla is another artist singing - I believe she’s an extended part of his personality/ psyche. They never look at each other or touch her voice reduces he singing about being okay and she fades down underneath the shot of the camera and then she’s gone. And then he’s singing alone.

One thing about chronic lyme diseases. The pain is unbearable at times. To lose the ability to walk or stand for more than a few minutes. You loose the ability to think or remember. Then you get better and have hope thinking your past the bad stages for it to hit again usually worse than before. At some point you come to terms with the fact that we all die and that’s the way it works but why do we have to suffer. Is it suffering or a gift? You truly enjoy the good days and have to be ok with the bad ones. Like a halo that floating chalk out line is with you until you lay it down.
The desire to live is a powerful thing.

I am a 43 yr old retired military man who struggles with BPD.
Diagnosed in the military with possible schizotypal comorbitity. I say possible because I didn't stick around to find out. Then, they lumpped it into my records as Eccentric Personality Disorder.
However, this song punches me in a place I didn't know existed. I was treated for a while with moderate to high dose zoloft. That combined with my four pain medications for my back injury, I was what they described here.
Off the head meds cause from what I know you really can't treat BPD that way. But the residue still feels like it's there.

What i hear in this is also the criticism of the medical community that misdiagnosed Ren for YEARS, and therefore spent years treating psychological symptoms as though they were the the primary illness. The years and years of misdiagnosis and mistreatment set back the treatment he needed for the lyme disease that he actually was suffering from, and made it that much harder to treat.
All these doctors were so sure they were RIGHT they didn't ask why the treatments didn't last - why symptom relief was only temporary, at best.
Anyone who struggles with chronic illness(es) knows this cycle intimately. How many of us have been dismissed, condescended to, had pills tossed at us to treat some "psychological illness," only to finally find a medical provider who takes us seriously and discovers that there has indeed been an underlying physical medical problem all along, which, had it been diagnosed and treated when first presented, could have been a relatively minor inconvenience, only to have it become a lifelong ailment because now it's chronic.
I identify so deeply with Ren's lyrics because, while my specific diagnoses are different, I've experienced similar struggles with having actual physical medical ailments passed off and "treated" as psychological problems.

I dont know that he has any music videos, but could you do some reactions to "Functional Poetry" or "Joy Joy Joooy!" By Narcissist Cookbook? I think his writing is just as poetic as Ren but is disguised with a more jovial tone to it
Honorable mentions; "Ghost Stories" by Narcissist Cookbook

Also CFS/Lyme disease makes you feel like you're not quite alive. We're just existing in a useless body. This makes me feel like a walking chalk outline on a daily basis.
The pills can also referring to all the kinds of medications you're given to try to help with the pain and other physical problems. I rattle when I walk with the amount of medications I take.

I live in a world of pain. I am depressed from always being in pain. When I get out of my bed every morning I know I have about 5 minutes before it feels like I’ve been punched in the body by pain. I could stay in bed forever but I can’t do that due to my spinal stenosis. I’ve also been like a zombie while Doctor’s try to find the one that keeps my head clear. The fear of being okay is real because pain is all I’ve known for 15 years. Thank you for your reaction and explanation of this beautifully sad song.

You’re the pro bro, but I get a revisit of Lou Reed (perfect day) and Grace Slick (white rabbit) but the street experience of the hippy days, being replaced with a grimmer prescribed drug, making the user scared to go without.
That said, I’m 57, was prescribed citalopram a couple of months ago. Lifted me out of a dark place.
Alive long enough to know I’m in a slightly artificial place, it I’m not worrying about the things can’t control - wild digression.
Ren is a fantastic artist, thinker, writer, but he’s not the answer, and nor would he want to be.
Your wise reaction led to this essay ❤️🎹👍

@@MusicHealsHQ Hello. I liked the way you parse the texts and visual images in the clip, you subtly notice every detail, I was pleased. For you personally, since you are an expert, just for the sake of your personal horizons in the music field (decide for yourself whether you will publish the analysis on RUclips) I suggest you watch the video from the official website of the No. 1 vocalist in my country. In addition to the beautiful vocals, you will be able to appreciate the lyrics and visual images, he writes the songs, lyrics, music and scripts for the clips himself. There are subtitles in English.
