"Beautiful and painful" is a good definition of the emotions that are transmitted in this song. The loss of a loved one is something that happens to us sooner or later in life and even more so when it is seen as an unfinished project. Different feelings attack us: non-acceptance, anger, sadness, guilt, etc. Knowing how to manage all of this seems like an impossible task. Over time, after several losses, it is not that it is less painful, but more or less knowing how to follow the path of those emotions and also allow them and express them. I agree that asking for help from a professional, because sometimes those emotions are overwhelming. James Blunt knows how to make songs, concise and precise in his lyrics and also, as I commented in a previous reaction, with a very peculiar voice; there is no doubt that he reaches the heart, he knows how to transmit feelings. I follow you, whenever I can, in your deep analysis... you never disappoint and I think we all learn something. Thank you so much.

Praise God!! The very act of shouting to God "Where are You?!" IS a form of praising Yahweh. At least that's how I experience it. Because it is a deep acknowledgment of how much I value Yahweh's presence in my life, even if it's done out of despair, even if i still don't know how to be me. God bless you and keep you, beautiful Human.

They served in the military together. His fatber being a high ranking officer and the line: I'm not your Son and your not my father was inspired by a speech his dad had made to him in the military saying you're not my son and I'm not your father, and basically that they are soldiers now. Etc etc. I can't remember the specifics but he sang this in one shot on tbis day, so his father could hear it. His dad isn't someone who shows outward types of emotions but is very proud of his son..They're very close. They thought the dad was going to die but luckily he got the transplant but it was a terrifying time I am sure.

My Dad passed away at the end of February, with my brother and myself, as well as a support worker coming in to help 4 days a week, looking after him until the end. I am not sure how many times i used this song to prop myself up so many times. I worked full time throughout, my brother part time, and between the two of us and the support worker managed, though it was not easy all the time. Many of the things you mentioned are true. I did find i neglected my own care, and sleep especially latterly. I know i found strength through it, though i did not share it with any member of the family. I found solace latterly, that we were able to keep Dad at home, exactly where he wanted to be. My brother and i also found a good friend in the support worker, who seemed to fit right in with the routine that Dad had

Some side stories I noticed is jenny was most likely a prostitute and screech’s girlfriend and friend were possibly together. Also in hospitals code violet can either mean there is a combative person or in some hospitals it means an abusive person. Also Jenny’s name is probably short for Jennifer which means pure or fair. James in the Bible is the supplanter meaning someone who seizes, circumvents, or usurps. I know these are far reaching theories but I know Ren is very specific when choosing lyrics. Also before Ren posted these songs he promoted by pretending his phone was stolen by screech and for a few days he removed his previous posts and acted as if screech actually had the phone.

As a therapist, you should really do most all of the songs off their album "Lateralus". All the songs and lyrics on that album have the same theme.... relationships, and growth, both emotionally and spiritually. "The Grudge", "The Patient", "Parabol/Parabola", "Ticks and Leeches", "Lateralus". You just did "Schism", and the rest of the lyrics are just as inciteful. I think you'd really appreciate their messages. new sub here.

I am well known in my family as the person who shares songs that make everyone cry lol. I love pretty much every genre of music, ones that make me dance around the house while eating peanut butter out of the jar, to the ones that make me sit on the couch sobbing with a box of Kleenex. I sincerely enjoy your take and explanations of all of the ones that you have reviewed so far. In another comment I had suggested one that is heart wrenching but would like to suggest a song from an artist who is not well known named Justin Hines. I love all of his music but wanted to suggest to you the song Say What You Will. Justin has a rare genetic disorder call Larson's syndrome but that is only what you see on the outside. He has a heart of gold and a gift that he shares through his music. Hope you have the opportunity to check it out.

So people like yourself who come at NF from a mental health view don’t have anything to react to, so you end up listening to the music. lost my dad just over 2 years ago. I tried to be his rock when my mam passed away and dedicated my life to make sure I took his mind off it and travel around the world with him. When he passed, I then took the role to make sure the family was fine while trying to sort out his estate. My family say I have the emotions of a Vulcan but when I first heard this song about a year after his passing, it just destroyed me. I finally understood subconsciously what I have been doing. I vowed never to hear this song again but after seeing your like, it took me over 30 mins to click on the link to hear what a professional analysis would say, and I totally agree with you. You need to understand that grief effect people in so many ways and no matter how you deal with it or what people perceive about you, that is how you deal with it.

The part you were saying about "default emotion" even as an an underlying emotion over the active one. That's something a lot of people need to hear and focus on. It's not a bad thing to have a core reactive emotion. But its incredibly important to focus on it and how it effects all/others, including your own situation.
