  • Select Kia Evs feature EV Charge Transfer (or Vehicle to Load), that allows you to use the vehicle’s high voltage battery to power electrical devices.
Vehicle to Load (or V2L) allows you to power electronic devices in various environments, such as outdoor activities and camping. You can also use V2L to charge your smartphone, or electric bike.
V2L allows you to use up to 80 percent of the battery’s maximum capacity.
One thing you must be aware of is that the Vehicle to Load feature cannot be used while charging the high voltage battery.
You can use the interior VEHICLE TO LOAD port when stopped or while driving your Kia EV.
Use the mechanical key from the Smart Key to unlock the power outlet cover located under the rear seat… then plug the indoor V2L cord into the outlet.
You can check the power status at the port via the indicator lights:
    BLUE is standby mode…
RED means there is no power being supplied to the outlet…
    GREEN means you have power!
Select Kia EVs allow you to use the exterior Vehicle to Load port. Here’s how to connect the V2L connector to the vehicle’s external port:
Open the cover on the V2L connector and plug in your device. Then close the cover.
Now, connect the V2L connector to the Charging inlet on the vehicle and press the switch on the connector - the light should turn on.
If the light doesn’t turn on, it could mean the battery is at its Discharging Limit.
Pressing the switch once again will turn off the power and the light will turn off.
You can set the DISCHARGING LIMIT, so if the vehicle reaches that limit, it automatically shuts off the power supply.
To set the limit, select EV from the infotainment system screen…
    Select EV CHARGE TRANSFER.
    Then set the DISCHARGING LIMIT.
There are various LCD messages on the Instrument cluster that may be displayed when using Vehicle to Load - they include:
V2L HAS ENDED. BATTERY LEVEL HAS REACHED THE SET VALUE - that means the battery has reached its set discharging limit.
V2L STOPPED DUE TO EXCESSIVE POWER USE -that means the device that’s plugged into V2L requires more electrical energy than the system can provide.
V2L CONDITIONS NOT MET - means the V2L connector switch may be off… or one of the conditions necessary for it to operate may not have been met. This message can also appear when you open the outdoor charging door while using the indoor outlet.
