The Battle of Chawinda was fought during the India Pakistan war of 1965. Poona Horse regiment launched the attack in Phillora and Chawinda. The mission was led by Colonel Tarapore who fought for six days despite being injured before meeting a hero's death on the battlefield in the 1965 war. Inspired by his valour, the regiment attacked the enemy armour and destroyed approximately sixty Pakistani Army tanks, while suffering nine tank casualties on the Indian side.

Kya bola apkai baap na apko ki 1965 war India har gaiyi
This was a battle of 44 Pakistani tanks of 6th Armored Division versus 220 Indian Tanks. On the first day of the battle India lost 18 tanks while Pakistan lost 2 of theirs. On the second day 8 tanks were taken down by Pakistani tanks. The strategy was quite simple but shocked Indian armored division to stop marching forward.

@@nah3914 No , Battle of chawinda was inconclusive because during the battle only UN mandated a ceasefire and both the sides stoped firing . So if that battle would have lasted longer then we dont know whether India would have won or Pakistan but its inconclusive.
@@nah3914War was started by Pakistan when it launched Operation Gibraltar and Operation Grand Slam on 5th August 1965 for capturing Kashmir and Jammu respectively.
And at last Pakistan had to defend its own sovereign territory in Punjab and Sindh which it failed to do so (by losing around 1500-2000 sq km of area) in sectors such as Lahore, Sialkot, etc.
Wake up and start reading actual history not the one fabricated by your Army to justify their de facto rule over the country.

The poona horse regiment was nicknamed fakhr-e-hind by the Pakistan army as a mark of respect for it's exploits during this 1965 indo Pakistan war. Lt col ab tarapore is an officer of the highest rank to receive the PVC till date.

My simple advice to defense planners and armed forces, next time when you fight, and are able to penetrate the enemy territory don't ever give it back. The territory on which a vulgar nation named pak exist belongs to India. Claim it back.

Operation Gibraltar was the codename given to the strategy of Pakistan to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir, and start a rebellion against Indian rule. If successful, Pakistan hoped to gain control over Kashmir, but the operation resulted in a major failure.
