    Damn this amp sounds amazing. Everytime I stumble on a demo of this this Just blows me away. I would give a foot to try One in person

      @@guitartonetopia After going through your videos the answer is a boosted 2203 which also has stronger upper mids. Thanks for the comparison.

      @@firststep7750 I would spend some time looking into the Mesa Mark series amps for something that can be had for relatively less cost that can do a lot of similar things as a Wizard MTL. The Triple Crown and some of the Fryette amps could also be worthy contenders.

      Thanks mate :) Cabs are hand made here in Melbourne Australia. Build quality is on par with Mesa, Engl etc. Sounds great. Nice pick up on those vool riffs too! ;)

    Dude I keep coming back to your video for two reasons.
    It has helped to reignite my interest in my MTL, which had been under loved due to me geling a bit more with Hybrid for the past nearly two years. Your recording of this amp really does it justice in the dynamics department. What cab are you using and what kind of mic placement'ish did you use?
    Also, I'm liking your riffs and style. Do you have a band or some recordings of a full track with some of your stuff?

    • @guitartonetopia
      @guitartonetopia  Год назад +1

      Wow thank you so much mate 🙏.
      The cab is a locally made here in Australia one which is pretty much similar spec to a Mesa or Engl. V30 speakers and mic is a couple of inches off from the centre of the cone.
      I'm slowly pulling together a solo project with all these riffs... my self doubt has been the main thing holding me back so your words really mean a lot to keep me going man

    • @Tiger1016.
      @Tiger1016. Год назад

      @Guitar Tone Topia I totally get the internal reservations that can hold you back. I let those get in my way a long time ago and let the lack of confidence in my playing and stage freight prevent me from doing some cover band stuff with my college buds, which I have regretted ever since. And somewhat recently I had to turn down some a really cool opportunities because of the lack of time with kids and work and other conflicting priorities in life. I finally found something that I can make some tangible progression on though and have been trying to slowly put together some of my acoustic stuff as I am more proud of what I have written there and it seems to be pretty crowd pleasing.
      I say all of this because it meant a lot to me and my confidence in my playing and writing when I started to get positive reactions that were legitimate and not just people feeling like they should try to be nice and supportive. I legitimately like your riffs and can see your vision, and I hope this can continue help give you the confidence and motivation to progress the work into a finished product. I imagine that taking the first step of putting your stuff out there on YT might have been a bit of a nervevous first step, but now that you have cleared that hurdle, hopefully you can maintain the catalyst to progress through the next stages and make it to the end of a finished project, even if it is just a rough first draft!

      @@Tiger1016. So glad to hear you've found a creative path forward :) We're all on a musical journey of some sort. Everyone trying to figure out where they're going.
      I was in a band 10-15yrs ago that gigged a lot and had a nice local following. Moving from that to a solo project where it's all on me is where the challenge has been :)
      Thanks again for the kind words mate and all the best with your music. Would love to hear it sometime

    • @guitartonetopia

      It's unique and has its own tone. It's not a Marshall which is what many players think. It's also like any other amp, some players love it and some hate it. When I want a really modern high gain tone, this isn't the first amp I reach for. Personally I wouldn't buy another one, but I know a lot of guys who think it's the best amp they've ever played. It's an incredibly well built amp and you know it's been built by 1 guy with decades of experience, that's really what you're paying for

    • @metalsnake3557
      @metalsnake3557 Год назад +1

      Thanks. Most forums mention wizard mtl as the modern king of high gain. But they're so expensive most regular people can't afford it.

    • @guitartonetopia
      @guitartonetopia  Год назад +2

      @@metalsnake3557 I think the misconception is when it comes to voicing, it's not overly modern in my opinion. Still has a lot of 'classic' vibe in there to me (not a bad thing depending on what you're after!), with a more modern spin. The voicing of an Uberschall or Diezel Herbert is more 'modern' sounding to my ears personally.

    I don't know 6000 for an amp. seems a bit steep they are pretty much nonexistent around where I live and right now you would have a really hard time selling it on the used market everybody wants to trade stuff

      I recently picked up a used 22’ MTL 100 for a little over $5k total to my door. It’s killer.
      I have it on a 8x6 switcher with some other amps I’m not going to be needing anymore.
      Clean channel gain around 2 oclock withthe gain and boost switches pulled is a sweet spot for me.
