Awesome vid Jay! My w800 is my favourite amp; using the presence, contour, tone stack shift and excellent onboard boost it is capable of so much! It is amazing how clear, tight and punchy it is, yet responds under the fingers like a great vintage amp!
Thanks man! ✌️ This is the MIM version nickel jumbo frets. I’m not a fan of SS frets. My old SUHR guitars has SS, in the end that’s what I didn’t like about them. Not horrible but I prefer Jumbo Nickel frets.
I most definitely didn't like the stainless frets either much to my chagrin cause one of my guitars needs some fret work soon and the dang tools ain't cheap
@@JasonHobbsGuitarist oh ya I can also feel the difference same as using stainless strings stainless feels hard and unforgiving Perhaps you feel the same also in those respects
@@JasonHobbsGuitarist I find the MC's too bright (RUclips experience only:) and the MTL/hybrid too dark. The W800 and Rock Standard (JMP inspired) seem perfectly tuned for those classic tones.
@@firststep7750 the W800 is the amp for me. I went through 4 Wizard amps to realize this. It has more than enough gain and it cuts in a mix really well. 👍 👌
@@JasonHobbsGuitarist I've listened to your other Wizards and the W800 really hits the target for me too. Thanks for your response; I've solidified my opinion.
Great video brother. Would you say you prefer this to your MTL/Hybrid? If so - why. I’ve finally got the cash and was going to get the Hybrid based on your other vids, but now I see this one and you’re saying this is your fav lol. Lot of cash for these and don’t want to make the wrong choice. I’m a classic rock / blues rock player, who also loves good melodic tone - Andy Timmons etc. thanks
Thanks man! 👍 I really appreciate that. The Hybrid is a very cool amp, I can’t see any rocker out there not liking it. The W800 is just the bare bones that I need. Nice tight bottom end at all volume levels. Built in boost. Two tone shaping options by pulling the treble knob out, UK or US. Lo and hi input, I use the Hi input for when I want to use just the amp alone straight in, like in this video. Also the LO input for when I want to use my pedalboard with my tele and strat. Simple, the way I like it. 100 watt has all the head room I’d ever want and dynamics for days. 👍 ✌️ My advice would be to use your ears… that’s all I ever done. 👌 cheers!
@@JasonHobbsGuitarist thanks brother. Which has the better bottom end? Hybrid or the 800? My current rig is a Silver Jubilee that I love, but lacks bottom end in my opinion.
@@robertalsbury well the cabinet will make a huge difference. I like the W800 all around. My advice would be if you’re gonna buy a Wizard amp, buy a Wizard cab as well, amazing cabs. That’s where you’ll get that right bottom end when playing in a room or on stage. There’s nothing quite like a Wizard cab. Have a chat with the builder Rick St Pierre, he won’t lead you in the wrong direction. He has crazy knowledge of speaker choice. 👍
@@JasonHobbsGuitarist yessir. Got a Diezel 4x12 with V30’s so I’m good with cabs. I’m watching your videos I think I like the Hybrid more. I hear more “dynamic slickness / pop”. I sure do appreciate your videos thanks Jason

100%, love both tone stack shifts. It’s like the nicest JCM 800 ever on steroids lol. ✌️
P.s forgot to say thanks! Much appreciated. ✌️
great playing again Hobbsy,i'm liking the EVH more and more, does it have SS frets?

@@zandig666 absolutely 👍 100% agree.
do you have a video on it playing it clean with and with clean effects? like chorus and stuff like that
With my tele yes… 👍 but when I usually plug into a Wizard I’m going for the throat. Haha 😂
🤘 WIZARD 🤘
@@JasonHobbsGuitarist I will look for it thanks lol
I'm leaning towards the W800 however I'm also interested in comparing it to the Rock Standard.
