Interesting. Similar sounds but the Mesa has more mid-mids and the Bogner has bigger lows and more defined highs. When I flip between the isolated tracks the mesa sounds slightly muffled in comparison
I can hear all that too. Mesa seems stronger in the mids and more raw/aggressive overall. The Uber is a little more 'nice' and clear in the top end like you say. Almost has a bit of Marshall injected into it. I could dial up the highs in the Mesa more too to closer to that Uber high end. Thanks for checking it out 👍
Almost no difference. Isolated, the Bogner has a little more ballsy mids. In the mix, I could not tell when the amp was being switched, in a blind mix.
when I change just 1 tube in ANY amp, I usually hear a MUCH wider difference in tone even when using the exact same brand tube. Do you know what that tells me : there is absolutely no point in comparing these two amps.. but it also begs another question : what pedals were used and are the pedals where the distortion comes from because I have never heard two different brand amps make the same distortion.
No pedals used here, I will try some tests with boosting later on but this clip is both with the guitar plugged straight into the front of both amps. I can certainly hear the difference between the 2 amps but it's not as major as some people would have you think. What this does show is just how similar some of high gain amps are to each other, and how the cab and mic drives a large majority of the recorded tone (since those 2 are exactly the same in these clips). Agree tubes do make a difference, I could use the same preamp tubes in both but one amp here runs on 6L6 and the other EL34... so in my opinion; amps should be compared with each amp running its optimal set of tubes to make that particular amp sound its best.
@@guitartonetopia thats crazy. Doesnt really sound like the mesas I played but then its also how you dial ut up. The fact that you were able to tone match to a mesa with a bogner is surprising to me. I like bogner but fwlt they had their own unique voicing
@@willfest Yes it's weird how close you can make some amps sound when dialing 'your sound'. I have heard the Uber is Bogner's take on a Recto type sound, roughly speaking. The rev f's are supposed to have some more upper bite and high mids vs the G's... so not sure if that's helping it get closer to Uber territory. I'd like to try the Uber against a Rev G to see how much difference there is there too
@@guitartonetopia Great comparison as always, mate! And you are right; not so astonishing these two can be dialed in similar as the Uberschall was really made to compete with the Rectos. "Wall of sound amps" as Zen HQ puts it. From my experience, the Uberschall in general is closer to the Rev F Rectos; a bit tighter/brighter than the Rev G's. I honestly never loved my old Rev G. It was the first really high end amp I bought back in '99. The Fryette Ultra Lead I bought a few years later in 2003 absolutely ate its lunch. IMO of course. :)
@@SluggerStark Thanks heaps mate! You're right they're definitely going for that 'recto type thing' with the Uber. Also agree that the Uber is more Rev F territory due to the brightness and tightness. I still like the Rev Gs but they are slightly looser and not as tight of course.. I can see why you loved the UL :)
Frequency/distortion wise both are essentially occupying the same space in the audio spectrum to the point where you'd be hard pressed to hear any difference between them. If you were to mix it with something with more midrange and/or note articulation, each would compliment the other rather than trying to compete for the same frequency space.
Cool comparison! They both sound great. When I think of awesome metal tones, I think of an Uber and a Recto. Classic.
Yes both have earned their place! At this point it’s just personal preference across the small differences
All you need is an ABY box to run them at the same time. Perfect tone.
That would be amazing to try both at once… I must do that! 🙏
Good tones - good riff. See you over at R-T!
thanks as always brother! 🙏
Dual rec vs Wizard MTL next? Great channel.
Love that idea! thanks mate 🤘🤘

Thanks for checking it out. Agree very similar when only the amp is switched and everything else is exactly the same
Which BK pickup ?
Painkiller 🍻. Also got BK's pot upgrade kit installed at the same time
Very similar. Bogner is just a bit smoother.
Yes the Bogner is a little more polised and 'nice' isn't it. Not as raw and aggressive as the Recto to my ears
Also Bogner sound a bit more saturated and "organic" to my ears which I liked more compared to Recto
@@omertuzer I can hear that. The bogner has some more ‘Marshall’ mixed in which helps that organic sound
subbed!
thanks Stephen :) 🙏
Does this Uber have 6l6?
Nope, EL34s
Dual rectifier isolated is more agressif - in mix uber & rectifier the same
Agree 👍

Would love to hear this tracked as a mix of the Dual Rec and the Bogner together, I think they would blend well and create some nice contrast!
Nice idea - i'll have to try that sometime :) Never done that before

Agree you would need to set the 2 amps to sound rather different for it to work. @@killingmasheen
