  • "North Head" was built as the steam ferry "Barrenjoey" by Mort's Dock in 1913. It was converted to diesel in 1951 (and renamed) and withdrawn in 1985. It survives (just) in Cairns. These scenes were shot by an anonymous cinematographer all around Sydney's magnificent harbour.

I remember the North Head, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Bellubera, Baragoola and South Steyne all in operation in mid 1960s.

Me too Mark, we lived in Manly 78-84….we would go to the Zoo….
Luna Park….or just for the ride there and back…rode it like 5 times in a row during a big storm, the captain let us come up to the Bridge….the good old days before the world grew up and got boring and safe.

This one had very gentle seas at the Heads.
