    I'm a detailer at a car lot and what we found to be the best is gut the interior of the car. Pull the seats and the carpet out of the car spray it w degreaser and pressure wash. The only down side is you have to leave it out for like 3 days to get completely dry, but no other way comes as clean

    I've had a B5, B6 and now a B7 A4. Those aluminum trim strips inside... I found the best way to clean them is a dab of WD40 on a microfiber cloth, and buff them until they shine. Works great. Seems to do a decent job of getting off any pitting or corrosion as well... and hides scratches. The previous owner of my car had long fingernails. all of the controls are chewed up with nail marks. The WD-40 seemed to do a decent job of hiding the nail marks in the alu around the switchgear.

    Tip for the soft touch panel from a VW guy. Take it off, spray it with Easy Off, let it sit and then scrub the soft touch off with a Scotch pad. Repaint with Plastidip. I've even used flat black spray paint and it looks great and holds up really well. Much cheaper than a new panel.

    Hard work especially in the heat, but great result in the end! For effective and time efficient top quality interior detailing, please look into and learn the skill of using an air compressor and a wet microfiber cloth after a prespray of the diluted green cleaner or a similar solution. Once the dirt and grime has soaked for a few minutes, it gets blown out easily with the compressed air. Very effective at getting grime out from all the crevices and tight spaces around trim, vents, door pockets, window moldings, stereo and air controls, between seat and console and dirt spots in carpet etc. Rinse cloth frequently and cover with cloth in hand the area where blowing compressed air so nasty shit dont fly. No need to remove any parts unless they're to be replaced or just get blown off by the air pressure. Also systemize your process. This is very important. Once you get this down everything will be step by step so you're working your way from left to right at each door- cleaning everything that's easily accessible from that door/seat. This will cut down the time you spend on each car dramatically, all while achieving great results. Try it out, this will tremendously help you with your detailing venture. Boom. Good Luck!

    Got an idea for you: the center piece of panel that is pealing, take it off, peel everything off it with a plastic spatula, just dont scratch it, then use black plasti-dip on it, it works wonders.. and its like $7 for a can at home depot. I own a VW and use this on my center consola plastics that have the soft rubber on, they look LIKE NEW after 4-5 coasts of plastidip. Good luck !

    • @euroberto85
      @euroberto85 7 лет назад

      Im trying this too, flat black plastidip work?

    • @semecristian
      @semecristian 7 лет назад +1

      straight black regular plasti dip can. Fun part is, you're gettin ghte "soft rubber" back on the plastic. I mean if you want other colors to match your center console, go right ahead, you can peel it off if you dont like.

    • @boriquais
      @boriquais 7 лет назад +2

      Yeah plastidip works good and almost looks and feel factory. Just don’t try on heavily touched or handled panels. It starts to rub off and look nasty.

    Great car, and detailing job! I have a 2001 that is about to hit the 200,000 mile mark. It has been very stoudt and most reliable over all the years that I have owned it. No rust either even though it has live a harsh Maine winter life. Last week I notice a loss of power. I think the turbo is fine but I am questioning the wastegate. After seeing this video, I think that perhaps my wastegate also lost the flap. Hopefully I can get away with simply reattaching it.

    The trim around the stick can be wrapped with vynil or similar. I did mine in carbon fiber dinoc and looked great. The left saggy cover seems to be a common issue with B5's. I did a bracket and bolted into the unused nut right on the side of the fuse box.

    • @SarahnTuned
      @SarahnTuned  7 лет назад +1

      Pablo Arduino we have to get the texture off first before it can be wrapped though.

    • @pabloarduino2687
      @pabloarduino2687 7 лет назад

      If you mean the soft touch texture that peels away, it goes away easily with simple rubbing alcohol. I hate VAG for using that thing everywhere...

  • @anthonyzastoupil1842

    Hi Sarah, great video! Cleaning out cars is so gross! When I cleaned or 308 I had a whole box of crap to take back to the original owner. That smell of bad cologne... Great job!

  • @AlapahaGuy
    @AlapahaGuy 7 лет назад

    For goodness sakes, get rid of the Simple Green and invest in a good interior cleaner. Adams makes an excellent one. Also, be careful when injecting or introducing water into the carpet. Water can become trapped under the carpet and under the padding, which in turn can lead to mold growth. Your Bissell doesn't have enough lift to suck the water out if it gets trapped under the padding. If you have the car that torn apart, just pull out the carpet and use a hose and carpet attachment for your DA and go to town on it. Let it dry in the sun several hours and reinstall once completely dry.

    if i were you guys id gone with a K04 turbo , it might have been a bit more but there easier to find(mazda/ford/volvo and some other cars that i cant think of use them), a way better/stronger turbo(only when compared to the K03 or K03s), plus more power is always good. any peeling panels can be fixed with a can of black spary paint and some minor sanding, there is also a fabric spray paint/dye you can get for the headliner(i did this to my old 1.8t GTi)...oh and all that grim looks like its old coffee, i know this from experience

    why not polish the shifter surround instead of replacing it?...as the owner of a VAG product ('04 GTI), when my soft touch coating got sticky/damaged around the radio (i.e. radio cage), instead of replacing it, I just removed all of the soft touch coating and more or less polished the black plastic that laid underneath...through combinations of fine sand paper, steel wool and Novus #2 plastic polish, I put a decent shine on the radio cage, HVAC trim plate and ash tray lid...it wasn't perfect as there were some scratches I made that I didn't blend out, but the result looks better than yucky soft touch coating

That would have given you plenty of room to clean the carpet, under the seats, and more access to do the seats from any angle.
