  • I feel like February is always one of the weakest months for Monstercat, and it's probably because January always slaps so hard. This month we had a couple EPs (Nostalgix & Caster), a lot of collabs, returns, and debuts. Reminder that this video is just my opinion so don't take it too seriously.

Unlike January, February slipped a bit more in the sense of quality 'cause most of all releases were very disappointing or others not so much, just could have gotten better performance out of them. Luckily, we had a few other MCat tracks and these are really worth it. Without further ado, here's my Monstercat February 2024 ranking. Are just opinions and do not reflect absolute reality.
    1.- Mr. Bill & Infected Mushroom - Rawthentic [9.7/10]
Of the three occasions Mr. Bill collaborated with Infected Mushroom, this one made me vibrate more. Bass House boppy drops are catchily cool and Psytrance slap section performs very well.
    2.- MUZZ - Rain Dance [9.5/10]
Definitely Rain Dance has better music elements and bassline execution than Pressure on the Masses. I really like how dark concept, the mischief in the choirs and fast-spaced claps work together. Sure, not in the masterful way like The Warehouse and Miss Trouble and P4VAN'S vocal support was needed over here to take the production to the next level. However, this one slaps pretty good.
    3.- Caster - Ostinato [9.4/10]
OH GOD, THIS IS SO AWESOME!! Neurobreaks are amazingly sick. Without a doubt, the track I enjoyed the most on Sorcerer's Symphony EP.
    4.- No Mana & SOFI - Digital Friends [9.3/10]
No Mana never fails to bring quite consistent and creative songs. Still better than Justify.
5.- Blanke & Grant - Heavy Heart (feat. your friend polly) [9.0/10]
Blanke continues to impress more and Grant's presence rewards everything. Melodic drops, stronghearted vocal performance and godly cheesy vibes executed in the good way.
    6.- Direct - Ghost [8.9/10]
Yeah, a huge step forward after Same Thing. It's really enjoyable the somber tone, both in the vocals and in the concept, and Deep House/Mid-tempo progression. Direct did a good job here.
    7.- KUURU & Saint Punk - Tokyo Drift [8.5/10]
When the same typical clichés are removed from a Phonk song, above all those same-samey cowbell beats, and other fresher elements are added, the experience changes a lot and that's exactly what happened with this collab, inspired by the Teriyaki Boyz's song of the same name. As a final result, we have a consistent Phonk-influenced Bass House micro-banger.
8.- Ryan Case - Don't Wanna Know (feat. Jake Neumar) [8.0/10]
Literally a solid stutter House-like UK Garage song, influenced by Disclosure's and another Big Room artists music roots. A nice double debut for Instinct.
    9.- Hayve - Portal [7.3/10]
Sure, It's Hayve's classic DnB style, although has a couple of good glitched sounds and that makes it a bit cooler.
10.- Caster - Choir of the Banshees [7.0/10]
Sounds like Hayve, Only Caster's somber tone is added. Faster DnB here it's nice of course.
11.- Fairlane & Point North - Not My Night [6.9/10]
Pop Rock-influenced drops are alright, nicer than Take It Back, but the vocal performance could have been used better.
12.- Jason Ross - No Tomorrow (feat. Brandyn Burnette) [6.8/10]
Hardstyle is a EDM genre I don't listen to and enjoy often. Something wally noisy, although it's fine for some menodic parts and Brandyn's vocal performance.
    13.- WHIPPED CREAM & Fourfive - Who's Laughing Now [6.3/10]
This is the Lost My Way's sequel and maybe will be the beginning of a something new. WHIPPED CREAM'S angelical chants are a bit pleasant and less uncomfortable, cinematic Trap concept it's pretty okay and Fourfive's rap... Not really.
    14.- Piero Pirupa & Nukey - Only Human [6.0/10]
Decent vocal performance, decent Electropop song. Rarely does Instinct put out things stray even slightly from mediocrity in very unbearable terms.
    15.- Ace Aura & Whales - Hypnosis [5.5/10]
I had very low expectations for this collab and still managed to disappoint me. I feel Whales should reduce his aggression in sound design terms and in the case of Ace Aura, he would have done more elements to save this one.
    16.- Cyclops - Bloodshot [5.0/10]
2nd drop it's the only decent part of this I guess, but the rest... Simply, It's too disappointing.
    17.- UZ - IBTFY (feat. TroyBoi) [4.0/10]
Oriental flutes sounded good at least. Unfortunately and apart from that, this trashy Trap song contributes absolutely nothing.
    18.- RAIZHELL & CLOUD ZERO - BINARY BLOOD [3.0/10]
Another uninteresting/free-care Phonk track on the label. Nothing can be rescued in this regard.
Edit: I won't rate Nostalgix's Star City EP because it left a lot to be desired and I don't see the point in giving reasonings about it. In general, all the songs are 3-4 on rating scale.

This month was not great. A lot of the songs were either trash (Who's Laughing Now, Demons, Hypnosis), mediocre (IBTFY, Bloodshot, Ghost, Only Human, Portal, Tokyo Drift Cover, BINARY BLOOD, Don't Wanna Know), or massively disappointing (Rain Dance). Caster's EP and Heavy Heart were the only things I got excited for this month honestly. Hope March's gonna be better

    22. I couldn’t stop laughing during the premiere 😂😂😂 I thought that was so ironic. Hot garbage
    21. Very disappointed for this ep. Some of the sounds in this one are ok
    20. I know ace’s strategy… collab with someone and hope it works. His influence has been bad in his collabs
    19. Tbh I thought it did it’s job as a catchy trap beat. One of my favorites in a lackluster month
    18. Kinda catchy and hits hard but a little bland
    17. I forgot to listen to the rest of the ep but the featured single was mid
    16. The sounds used are catchy BUT THAT IS ALL THAT REPEATS. This is so basic
    15. I can’t really get behind directs songs since “stained glass”. His vocals are actually really good though
    14. A little basic yes, but I actually wanted a lil slap house and this one was better than most of last years
    13. Probably my personal favorite of the month from uncaged
    12. OMG THE KEEP UP THE PACE REFERENCE LOL 😂
    11. So nostalgix has a simplistic style huh? It’s not bad but her style gets old
    10. This drop is ok and the quiet piercing Melody at the end of each bar is nice
    9. DC DOESNT MIND A HAYVE RELASE 🤯?!?! Tbh I thought it was mid and I actually like hayve
    8. Kinda disappointing it’s just a remix kinda for saint punks return but it was solid I guess
    7. DAMN THIS HITS HARD. Really good
    6. Really solid actually I just didn’t listen to it more than once
    5. I’m sorry: I do not care for either IM or bill
    4. SOFI CARRY!!!! I just like the way it…. sounds. That pause before “feels” is so satisfying and no mana slaps too
    3. So blanke is just relying on other artists… hey I really liked it
    2. Maybe a gotta listen again cuz it just sounded like an empty euphoric song. The vocals are good though
    1. Yeah maybe it’s not TOO bad but I didn’t love it too much. Caster’s previous work I liked a lot better
