I just received my beautiful knife from this maker. Had a friend get it in Taiwan. 100% recommend it for hunters and fisherman and anyone else who use a super sharp bone crushing knife to cut up any animal or fish. I cut deer bones like it was soft butter. Amazing knife 💯🏆
Probably the most skillful tuna cutting I've seen yet, and not to take anything away from the cutter, I'm sure the knife has a lot to do with how easy he makes it look. Nice job!
_that forging process and technique is just superb for a knife but no ordinary knife, a tuna knife. worthy of a knife, craftsmanship and blacksmithing._
Amazing knife. Really enjoyed watching it being made. Enjoyed watching it being used just as much. Really made its form all the more understandable. Thanks as well for the display of the cutting and serving of the tuna as well. Quite educational. I only wish there were English subtitles so I know what was being said.
When i first saw this knife i thought that its shape and size were not correct. but now that I've, seen how it is used by a master, indeed form does follow function. it was an honor to watch you make this knife. Thank You
I don't have problem with the shape. But when I see they used easy-to-rust material quite disturbing me. They should use stainless steel to made knife for food. This is why I prefer sashimi cutting from Japanese rather than Chinese, because Japanese used stainless steel knife. I will not surprise if there are people could infected by rust material because of that Chinese knife.
@@nobodyjustme7481 most good knifes are made from carbon steel not stainless steel. stainless steel does not hold an edge like carbon steel. a thin coat of vegetable oil and they'll be no rust. "I will not surprise if there are people could infected by rust material because of that Chinese knife." rust is iron oxide and an important mineral in your diet and without iron your body doesn't make blood.
@@nobodyjustme7481 You really don't have much understanding of metallurgy now do you? Stainless steel does not equate sterile. Rust has fuck-all to do with pathogens.
That was great that everyone was able to see how a Pot Belly knife is made and used. Plus, that long bladed slicing knife that makes a one slice cut for each piece. Able to have a clean cut slice without sawing the fish with multiple cuts to get one slice. Never seen any kitchen knife like the two shown in this video.
I never worked with remotely this level of skill, but I miss my days working in metal shop, and volunteering as a tutor back when I was a kid to recognize and understand the talent necessary for ironworking.
Yes it's not sharper than any other knives using recycled truck springs but it's shape is built for purpose. There are a lot better steels out there but they are obviously more expensive.

How do you become the owner of a knife like this?
When i first saw this knife i thought that its shape and size were not correct. but now that I've, seen how it is used by a master, indeed form does follow function. it was an honor to watch you make this knife. Thank You
Samee feeling with you. :) I was thinking the weirdness of the blade shape but when I saw in action, understood that is the perfect form for the job

I thought the same thing that the knife would not be practical but it was very practical.

Fantastic video and workmanship. What type of oil are you using for the quenching process? Thank you

It's terrible that metal shop and other such shop classes had been removed from the curricula.
How much is it? I want to buy
Just wonderful.
I wish I had that rotary waterstone. Diamond is good enough for me.
Such care on how they handle the fish. I absolutely love it, tuna looks amazing. I swear I was born in the wrong country lol. Just a compliment 😉
I agree! On the top of that you will get free glue from the plywood ;-)
You can move.

Totally want this knife

They made knives from spring steel. No wonder it's super sharp.
But it takes more effort to maintain it. So, it won't get rust.
Do you think we should tell them about glue (urea formaldehyde) in the plywood?
Wow !!!
There is no cut of meat more beautiful than tuna
Good 👍👍👍
16:13 perfect color for quenching, very even heat line, result is superb.
At first I was wondering if that knife would be practical but it seems to be perfect for the job of skinning and cutting up the tuna.
Thanks for showing the video in the first minute now I don't have to waste 45 minutes
Verygood
It's such a precious tool for the professional tuna cutters. What is the typical price for this tool paid by the cutters?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Is it at 關廟 ?
It was absolutely a art work

He hammered the hell out of that steel. It’s going to be so much denser and better than from the stock removal technique.
like a firewood knife
I hate fish, but this looks beautiful. And the butchery is amazing.

muito daora como eles cortam o Atum
Very brittle/easy to chip the edge. Very sharp
Ridding our oceans of Ahi, one fish at a time. Thank you Japan!
