Thank you! I inherited my machine from my mom when she passed away two years ago and the thread has always looped on the bottom. Solved my problem, and made my stitches look much better!
Thank you SO much for this viceo, I was passed down an Arista 200 from my Grandmother it was sewing great then I switch to a zig zag stitch and I get a tangled mess. This video did the trick!!! I've watched many of your video's on this machine you've been an amazing help getting to know my new machine:)
You are more than welcome!! I sell Berninas on ebay and I have found that this is the best way to answer some of the questions I get from my customers. I leave the videos here on youtube in hopes that they will help someone else out who is looking for answers to the same question. Glad I could help!!
Thank you for the nice comment on my "not so professional" video. But I do get the point across. Thread tension is everything when it comes to getting a nice looking and proper stitch. It's something that needs to be adjusted for each individual project as there are so many thread types and so many possible combinations of material and material thickness. Not any one tension setting is good for every situation. Thank you! Bill
Dunno if you guys cares but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my gf for the last few weeks =)
I just want to add that I do very much appreciate your videos. I panicked when I realized I had taken my machine apart unnecessarily. Would you please be kind enough to explain why it’s better to do it that way then on the electronic screen or is that just if the screen adjustment doesn’t do the job? I got mine working fine by changing the adjustment in the electronic screen. Please forgive me if I was offensive yesterday I was a little shook up, Probably unnecessarily. Sorry.
I did what you showed and it didn't help. What else could be causing my machine to do this. I have had my 180 for over 20 years and it has never had tension problems.
Thanks much for the nice comment(s). This is far from a professional video as it was just shot using my cell phone, but it does contain some useful information. Thread tension is everything when it comes to getting a proper and nice looking stitch. With all of the different thread types out there and the countless types of fabric and thicknesses of fabric, no one tension setting is a good one. The settings need to be "tweeked" sometimes depending on your project. Thanks! Bill
Hi, I had to take apart my Bernina 140 and a small bearing came out. Any idea where it goes? I think it may have come from the pressed foot tension dial. Thnx
When I looked at this video I was amazed that I had to open the machine to adjust the thread tension. Then I looked in my manual and found that I could do it on the electronic screen. I am beyond displeased because I already moved the disc inside the machine. I hope I haven’t messed it up. Yikes!
I got a detention at my school for moving my tention dial on my sewing machine, but i didnt move it, is there any way that the dial could move on its own?
Seriously, detention for moving the tension dial? I think that is a bit drastic, but that is just my opinion. You could have your arm on the tension wheel and have it "possibly" move slightly by sliding your arm over it. Not likely but it could happen. No the tension dial that I show on a Bernina will not move by itself.
