Thank YOU so much. Solved my problem because I just turned off the sound, not the sensor itself!

Thank you so very much. I have watched your videos and determined that my sensor is bad. I have turned off my lower thread sensor. My question is: will this affect my embroidery if i have lower thread issues such as broken thread or nesting? Could this cause any damage due to high speed and an abundance of thread? Thank you so much.

Your machine still has a upper thread sensor so anything that happens to your bobbin thread, like it runs out or it breaks, the upper thread sensor will stop the machine because it will no longer be pulled down to make a stitch. So no there is not any need to worry about hurting something. Glad I could help 😁

I am getting the message please check lower thread. Clean bobbin area of lint or stray thread.
    I have a Bernina 730.
I used a qtip over the sensor, I then went into the factory settings and mine stayed yellow when pulling thread out. This means the sensor is not good.
I watched your next video about turning off the lower thread notifications.
Went back to sew and the message came back.
Any suggestions? I have oiled the machine.

Hi, The problem with the motor heating up is most always the main belt tensioner wheel. It’s a small metal wheel that rides against the main belt. It’s for keeping the proper tension on that belt. These wheels eventually lock up, stop turning and the main belt drags across them causing all sorts of problems, everything from chewing up the main belt to all sorts of electronic problems because the motor is being overworked to try and keep the machine running so you could burn out the sewing motor. So there is a really long list of problems that can occur just because of this tensioner wheel that rides against the main belt. Look through my videos I have a few videos on this site describe exactly what the problem is but most likely you would have to take it to a dealer to get it fixed. I’m machines the people send me for this problem because they don’t trust anybody else I put in an actual small ball bearings that replace that wheel because simply adding oil to it might work for a short time but there’s something with the type of metal that that wheel is made out of causes it to eventually lock up on the metal shaft it’s riding on. A word of advice on taking your machine to a Bernina dealer is the first watch my videos so you’re educated on this problem before you go to a dealer because I can almost guarantee you that a dealer is going to try and tell you that’s an outdated machine that you have and you need to get a new one. in my book these are still fantastic machines capable of doing anything you can do with a newer overpriced model. Do not listen to their sales pitch and they’re talking about how your machine is outdated. That really ticks me off when they do that and I hear about it all the time. One last note here is that if you have a problem with that tensioner wheel getting hard to turn or locking up you will find it when you turn the hand wheel on the machine it’s going to seem rather stiff like the machine is not freely turning. You can remove the top cover of the machine with the two screws that are on the top that easily comes off and you can see the main belt at the front, no that would be the end of the machine right where the hand wheel is and you probably will see little flakes of rubber like the belt is being chewed up and again once you turn the hand wheel the machine will seem rather stiff. Get that fixed before you caused any other problems especially electrical ones because the replacement boards are not cheap and you could harm them by keep using it. One last note I used speech to text in my phone to write this so if there any mistakes sometimes the speech to text puts in some weird words. This should help 👍

Hello my Bernina Artista 730 is having issues with bird nest on back of fabric and the thread broke one time? Can you help? I bought the machine used and it had just been serviced.

Hi, Here is the first thing I would take a look at. As I show in the video remove the one torx screw that holds on the plastic end cap of your machine. Now thread the machine and before you run the upper thread over to the needle, pull down on it. Take a look at the spring that I show in the end of the video. When you pull the thread down that spring should go up when you pull the thread and go back down when you let the tension off of the thread. If this spring has broken it will not move up and down and it will need to be replaced. The next thing to check for is when you pull down on the thread with the machine turned on there should be some resistance when pulling out the thread. I would describe the amount of resistance to be about the same as pulling thread out of a threaded bobbin case. If the upper thread pulls out without any resistance then let me know. Also if the spring does not move up and down, let me know. Bill

My bobbin sensor is not working(no flashing lights on your test). How can I order the part and install myself?

    • @JoeKind1958

Unless you can find another lower thread sensor somewhere online, your only other choice is to get one from a Bernina dealer.
Expect a dealer to tell you that they need to replace the sensor. If it’s a nice dealership they know how simple it is to replace and they will sell you another sensor. The style sensor I show in this video fits both the 200 and 730.
The sensor just clips on to the bobbin door and the wires are on one plug that only can be plugged in one way.
I believe I show how to do this in one of my 200 or 730 videos. It’s super easy.
      Thanks for watching!

Hello sir. Bernina 640 sensor is giving me fits, I replace the censor but it is still showing up as no thread...

    • @JoeKind1958
      @JoeKind1958  7 лет назад

Jed Owen It could be a couple of other things. Make sure the small oval hole on the bottom outside area of the bobbin is not blocked as the sensor needs to see the bobbin rotating through this opening. The most common problem here is that the flat spring inside the bobbin case becomes loose rotates slightly and blocks that hole. The next is the most common cause and that is the rotation direction of the bobbin in the case. If it is rotating in the wrong direction this will trip the optical sensor and stop your machine.
If all else fails you can simply turn this sensor off.
      Thanks for watching, Bill

Thanks heaps, I tried several things but finally replace the sensor. reset the machine, then reset the tension whatever in the service mode and it finally works great. I much appreciate your time though.
