23:00 + incredible work by the people manning machines laying new tracks. Love watching true artists at work! Poetry in motion! Thanks for sharing this with us.
It always amazes me how those big metal claws are capable of such delicate work (relatively!) when directed by the right operator. It really is artistry. Those guys are terrific!
They continue to get better and better; love these GBs (says someone from GB) 🤣Liked that diesel in Socan't remember its number; that livery looks so like that of the British Southern Railway 1923-1948. Another superb ending with the sunrise at the 10 curve; great clip from Altoona; also like these happy people waving to the VR cameras. So much to enjoy in this one!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Rio Grande EMD looks nice, Pan Am,geometry train, side panel cars in Roanoke, emergency stop, SRR GE, UP, NS lash up, ballest train in Hesperia, lash up in Altoona with SD40-2 and HU,MOW work in Roanoke, excellent video!🛤🚂
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in multiple locations, especially the Heritage Units, military trains with the military vehicles and so much more, I like them all, @VirtualRailfan, thank you very much.
0:09 15-unit power move of mostly dash 9s. 601 was rebuilt into an AC44C4M a few years ago. 3:27 NS 4002, 9921, geep 5335, and high-hood geep 5190. Two other trains are passing on the other tracks 4:40 containers broken into 4:56 private cars on the Lake Shore Limited (again at 9:25) 6:55 pan-am boxcar 7:04 NS 38 10:21 Herzog well train with a good look at the modified excavator's attachment 11:35 CSX 1982, 1, and 2 on an OCS 12:48 I've never seen and air reservoir drop off a moving freight car before! 14:45 NS 8099 leading 16:45 freshly repainted CSX units 19:05 three Darwins at once! 19:18 BN tall gondolas 19:56 two P42s running light 20:08 UP OCS of 11 cars 21:40 6-unit lash-up with a CP GEVO, CP heritage SD70ACu, CP SD30C-ECO, UP GEVO, KCSM gray AC44CW, and another uP GEVO 23:19 replacing rail in Roanoke 24:56 NS 6954, NS 8101, WFRX 8959, and NS 6150 ascending Horseshoe Curve 27:34 two H2 units and two H1 units trailing
In reference to the dragging air tank, thank goodness that tank didn't fall out over the crossing. That could have easily been a nasty derailment, especially with the opposing train.
I can't believe that with the racket of the air reservoir bouncing under the car that there was no reaction from the 2 railroad employees walking just feet from it 😮🤔. Not my department one told the other. 😮
Dang, that could have been an absolute disaster going into emergency on a curve with an approaching stacker on the adjacent track! We've see these before on this channel, where the brakes on the rear half of the train are still applying while the ones in front are already engaged and on a curve, even at slower speeds than this.
Does anybody know who the people are whose names are on the passenger cars in the CSX Transportation train? Are they CSX bigwigs or railroad barons or what? I keep thinking that I should recognize them, but maybe it's just that they all sound like historical figures. Any info would be appreciated! This was another gorgeous one--especially the Fort Madison footage, the Altoona shots, and of course that beautiful, heart-catching ending. Thank you!
Yes, the names on the coaches are former, and a couple present, CSX dignitaries. And to the best of my knowledge, the cars are lined up in the order they were president or CEO of Chessie System and then CSX. I've noticed that before when watching that train roll by.
@@kennethfuller8347 Terrific--I hoped that someone would know because this channel has so many knowledgeable watchers. And if the named cars are lined up in chronological order it would explain why the names at the end have a more "Edwardian" sound to them. Thank you so much!
Dragging equipment detectors didn't catch this one. BNSF requires the conductor on a stopped train on a siding to go out and inspect the passing train. Don't know if just casual RR employees are required to watch/inspect passing trains.
Those BN cars are high side gons or woodchip cars not hoppers. There are no unloading chutes on the bottom so therefore it doesn't use gravity to unload like a hopper. Other than that a good video overall.
Sad news from La Plata rail stream again. Those that remember last Grab Bag, I mentioned Klaatu’s passing. February 28, we lost another longtime chatmember and LP moderator, CaseyJones1970.
16:38 Odd car, can't see the reporting marks, and I think it's a one level vehicle carrier, but it's not very long. Do you know who's, and what's it for?
Too bad RailFan that you haven’t written down all the engine numbers from the beginning, so when you see engines going to pasture- you can go to that clip and show where you’ve had it on video once.
Darwin award. Dang, that was close. Prolly almost got hit by a jet liner flying overhead too, and then there are possible rabid skunks around every corner, pianos falling from high rise buildings gamma rays from space, etc etc..
Beautiful heart warming outro, as always. Our condolences to the Bernauer family.
I was hoping that the song and sunrise at the end would be dedicated to @casey jones 1970. Thanks for that, and RIP Casey.
Casey, I didn't know you, but Godspeed and journey well.
Love the loose air tank bouncing about and clearly hitting the rail, if not the ballast, and the 2 guys in hiviz don't even look up.
@ 6:00 ADORABLE , LADIES! Adorable ladies 😉❤️❤️❤️

correction lines 1-2: liked that diesel in SOUTHERN livery...so like the British Southern livery of 1923-1948.
I do love seeing the old classic names: Central of Georgia, Wabash, and Southern. Thanks.

hello Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Friends Randy
15 locomotives. That's a lot. A bunch of M1 Abrams too. Heavy duty video.
That E-Stop was certainly an Audible one. Nice to see N.S 8099 in her smart Southern livery, thanks VRF.
Great catch like it all and the two passager train and not Amtrack

Awesome Video!
👍☘️🇮🇳☘️👍
20:04 the person down by the crew change area filming is me!
Wow! Big Sandy on the GB and it wasnt even BNSF powered. I am shocked!
In reference to the dragging air tank, thank goodness that tank didn't fall out over the crossing. That could have easily been a nasty derailment, especially with the opposing train.
Good Catches
*Nice Catches*
Power moves are always so interesting especially the ones that are 12 or more long.
I should’ve saw 48 that Thursday when I was heading to the dentist and I’d never knew it had two private cars.
Re. the loose air tank: A little duct tape, some JB Weld. It'll be fine!
Is that you Uncle Red !? 😂
Not duct tape- baling wire!
Okay MacGyver :3
@@Richard-od7yd Nope, it's Finnegan!
@@maynardcarmer3148 Oops, my bad.
14:55 funny if the NS's Southern was with UP's Southern Pacific 🤣
I never see huge strings of locos anywhere but BNSF, just like the old SF days.
Sick locomotives
2:50 If someone at BNSF had a sense of humor they would have put a flat car on the end
Lol .. that would've for sure got some comments, and questions .. 😆
19:30 I didn't think there were any former BN woodchip gons left.
Nice grab bags

The high-side cars at 19:20 are gons, not hoppers. However, there is little difference.

Why are CSX and NS the only class ones with flashing ditch lights?
27:12 And that folks is why you wait for the crossing to deactivate before crossing the tracks!
Another long BNSF power move!
13:40 Is that the first VR-camera capture of a train going into emergency while in a meet with another??
Wonderful as always. But where was the Omaha track cars? I didn't see them. What were you referring to?
16:23
It seems like BNSF wastes a lot of fuel shuttling locomotives. Aren’t there any safe sidings where they can be stored?
Pam am Clipper Box Car 6:59

How did that gondola with the loose air tank ever make it past yard inspection?! Never mind. I know.
Well you saw that even those 2 guys didn't even see it
@@texastrainfan56 well, they needed to be looking in the first place
It fell off after leaving the yard.
The inconvenient truth of PSR. 🤫

According to a UP engineer who had a blue locomotive behind his two front ones, they are test locomotives. manufacturer put them there to test them.
sure is a lot of weight for an old bridge
Why did they take down Ft Madison wall?
16:38 Odd car, can't see the reporting marks, and I think it's a one level vehicle carrier, but it's not very long.

That is a high cube boxcar. They are used for light but bulky freight, like appliances such as stoves and refrigerators. They are as common as dirt.
Too bad RailFan that you haven’t written down all the engine numbers from the beginning, so when you see engines going to pasture- you can go to that clip and show where you’ve had it on video once.
What is WFRX? Is that a bank or class 2 railroad
Wells Fargo Rail Company. It’s a locomotive leasing company. NS bought a bunch of their ex-BNSF SD70MAC’s to cover a power shortage.
@@Trackside_Railfanning yessir, and they own and lease a lot of other rolling stock also.

Sounds like one of those insurance ads lol. But kudos to the NON-Darwin pedestrians in Flagstaff who actually waited for the train!
Any chance of ever having a camera at Truckee or Soda Springs?
