You can install NetGuard firewall by M66B from Github or F-droid and put it in whitelist mode and then choose which app gets access to internet and which doesn't.
Since NetGuard acts like a VPN + I need a VPN on my phone + I can't run (2 VPNs) NetGuard and my VPN at the same time = I use the firewall app AFWall+ to block connection for everything except what I allow.
I use OSMand as my main navigation app, although i have a not degoogled phone. I use navigation often in no mobile service territory and a offline gps only app is a key point.

I recently unlocked my bootloader and went with LineageOS because I rely on many apps from the playstore for work, but I'm really itchy to try out Graphene tho. And just to clarify, a rooted phone is not a security risk if you use magisk for instance, it requires biometric auth to unlock an app to use root and only the owner of the phone has root access, the catch is the unlocked bootloader, especially if you don't encrypt your data and only if an attacker acquire physical access to the device which would allow "him" to sideload monitoring software to do anything really. You have to be carefull to which apps you do give root access tho, but if you are techy enough to go about unlocking your bootloader and rooting your phone you should have some common sense or at least not give the random chinese gamepad app root access to your phone.
In case anyone needs it, Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite are a thing. And according to Aurora Store, Facebook Lite has no trackers and Messenger Lite has 2.
About the email client, most people use K9-mail, It's FOSS, I haven't tried it myself, but you might be interested in trying it out. Also, when looking for FOSS alternatives, alternativeto. net is an awesome site as it lists all the alternative software in existence and you can filter it by free / open source. Take a look there too. Also, will you cover MicroG services? It's basically a FOSS google services that fixes apps that require it (like the ones that don't show notifications)
I’ve been using a PiHole for over a year. Been liking it but having to maintain another OS and device is a drag. Never heard of NextDNS until now. Trying it out and quite impressed. Especially for what it provides for parental controls. Wow. Enforce google safe search and RUclips restricted modes. Need to read up on it and whether I can protect individual iOS devices with their own custom configs. I’ll be setting it up on my router and maybe find another use for my PiHole.
I love the outlook app, if it was with a self-hosted imap account. With gmail, google puts ads in your inbox masquerading as messages. Ads as messages outnumber actual messages about 3-to-1.
Microg now has signature spoofing. RUclips TV, music, and RUclips all work with microg. For RUclips TV just turn on it'd permissions before loading the app.

Yup those are probably the best alternatives right now for a functional map, however both are influenced by google. It is only a matter of time before they cross that line. I hold out hope that OSMand gets better and is a good alternative.

So I searched the web and found Hermit I installed it from Aurura (it has 'only' 2 trackers) and was able to use it for gmail, Google Drive. So far looks good ...would be interesting to know if you heard of something similar? Another option I thought about is compiling a wrapper to each website separately.... what do you think?
There are apps that have no trackers in Play (Aurora), as listed by Aurora. Not many, but they exist. FX file explorer, Total Commander, Titanium Backup, Total Launcher, Anysoft Keyboard, Simple keyboard, just to name the ones I have installed and handy.

Try F-droid alternative named G-droid. Generally idea the same. Repository same, quality same, but... developer target is to share F-droid with user rating and curating of apps (in companion of Mastodon social media), better sorting and filtering.

Superuser privileges need to be granted (via the Magisk, Supersu etc. app) before an app can take over the base system. That said, rooting your phone is not a security concern unless you allow it to be.

As any app crashes log files reports must be sent to data center in order to prevent further incidents. and since people they have come up with their own innovations they have their own store. It depends heavily on what you want, if going full open source is your goal fennec and icecat are probably your best bets, but bromite is really really good too in the chromium side of stuff and they have many privacy focused defaults too.

What about Fair Email for email? I've been using it for a while and it works great with all email accounts!
I use GApps Browser (found on F-Droid) as a Gmail and Google Drive client. It's basically a sandboxed web app browser.

Waze belongs to google and uses google maps, It wouldn't surprise me if WeGo used maps API either, you are drinking Snake Oil friendo.
