I love how you started to explain perspective and then just gave up XD feels
omg ye
relatable
I felt like he explained it well enough.
@@PeterMilko I made my house with plain colours so it's looks more like houses in cartoons is it fine or should I make it more realistic
@levioptionallastname6749 yeah it was all in the hand movement
2:21 "So it gives more of that top down perspective because, uh, y'know"
Oh now everything is clear...
lol ye i gave up explaining 🤣
Dude is still talking about his furniture video. Never stop the grind.
lol
@@PeterMilko does lol mean = lola on land
2:22 because the house because ya know
Truly profound, professor
this is a really great tutorial, I love that we see the whole process, including "missteps" or the trying out of different ideas (lines, shapes, colors, etc). as a complete beginner, it's a lot less overwhelming somehow to see that extra bit of effort and detail
the fact that all your color choices have a reason behind it says it all to me. Really love your contents. Your one video made me get into pixel art and than into game dev. I hope one day I can be as good at it as you are.
Hopefully duck boy and foxy like their house
@@chaoticstudios9527 Neither can you: "house".
Chaotic Pumpkin how did you-
I would’ve kept my comment as “house” but someone else said house and like- that’s kinda weird
yesss, this is exactly the video i needed right now. was considering commenting to request it, but you're ahead of the curve. much appreciated, as always
About to watch it, this is the video I've been waiting on. I've been searching everywhere for Pixel art buildings and can't find any good tutorials. But I know your work and I'm already confident this will help me with the problem I've been having
Pretty helpful tutorial, thanks Tommy Wiseau.
Oh hi mark
lmao
What I love about this video is that you show us techniques that we can apply. Very cool. I’ll use this for my designing process.
Loving your videos. I've always wanted to make my own game and have been playing around with Godot the last month or two. My biggest weakness has been drawing sprites, and you're tutorials have been an amazing help. Do you do anything other than the art? Like, quest writing or level layout, any other guides would be helpful as well. For sprites, I'd love to see you make an animated character, like how you do moving legs/arms/etc. Keep up the amazing content!
I was scared for a second when I heard the welcome back, I was like Pixel Pete what happened to you
Great work, I was struggling to make a “Lighthouse”. I’m a bit limited with Gameboy colors but this is a lot of help
Thanks Pete! Loved the video! That was really cool!
Wow! that was so cool! Really, thank you! It was my 1st experience in pixel art, and it was great! Never thought that this art direction will like to me, and that I can deal with it. I drawn another house of course, and it baced on your lesson, thanks!
It reminds me so much of bob ross, he draws patiently, but without you noticing he did a masterpiece.
I haven’t even watched it and I know it’s awesome
Me too
Cracking vidya! Loved every minute!
The attention to detail always blows my mind, this has some major world building vibes beyond its usefulness as an art reference.
Thanks for investing the effort into these vids! ~DevLyfe~
I've watched (and purchased) a lot of pixel art courses, but this series is by far the best.
Idk why but I subscribed in the last 5 seconds. This is awesome and helpful.
This is excellent! Well done 👍🏻
Thanks. Lots of good tips here. My game doesn't look like crap thanks to you.
I like to try and guess what you're gonna do next when you're making your pixel art, I feel smart whenever I guess how you're going to shade / do things.
I'm going to watch this a million times myself. Thank you much dude!
wow, I just discovered this kind of art, your channel, man, your place is awesome!
thanks!
Absolutely your best video! It is really helpful
Thankyou so much Pete ! You're awesome
Would love to see a video on effective, readable icon design. Icons versions of equipment and items for inventory management grids, icons for spells in action bars, icons for abilities in a talent tree, etc. Appreciate your work!
good idea
Yes! You took my suggestion!!! Thanks!
This is crazy good, man. Love it!
Glad to hear it!
3:56 If your roof ain't T H I C C, don't talk to me
The tips on texturing wood and stone are great.
Your tutorials always make me wanna bust out aseprite and pyxel edit and draw like a crazy person. :3
This is relaxing to watch, and helpful.
Thanks A LOT for this man!
sure thing! Return the favor and play my game :P
I love you man, your channel is amazing!
very informative as always thanks pete.
Been watching for awhile, finally got aseprite today. Very excited to start this journey. Thx for the inspiration, you rock ❤
i hope you used my link! :P
@@PeterMilko Of course, support content creators 👍
Pls can we have a video on curves? Cause ur roof is great, but the concept of how you made it makes 0 sense to me. Also I luv ur videos! And the double welcome back today.
Pixel Pete video: Liked before watching. That's how confident I am in how entertaining and informative this video will be. :)
With your tutorials I’m becoming better at pixel art! Keep up the tutorials :)
Incredible video thank you
This is gold! Thanks!
Hey Pete! I love your tutorials. Your videos help me a lot to start pixel art
Best Pixel Art Tutorials on RUclips!
Awesome vid man
Bro I love your tutorials...all of them
Take a drink every time Pete says "perspective" but doesn't explain what that is.
(j/k Pete you're awesome, cool video)
Thanks!
Great vid !
looks great chief
Awesome 🥰 ❤️
Amazing tutorial ; thanks !
every time i watch one of your videos i go. ok that makes sense, wait a minute... what?! oh that looks cool. and then repeat
Your talk makes video more PeRsPecTive ;) got new sub yo!
that is great!
Dude, this one is very important - how to make non-standard slanted roof, how to create a proper roof thickness, how to outline a building, how to shade and texturize it without overdoing it...
Thank you very much for the tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video bro
You forgot to remove the Spare Shading on the Transparent right edge of the Right Side of the roof.
I'd definitely remove it myself if I use the Art Pack in my game.
But the house is so good that I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't seen the process of the making.
This is the best tutorial I've ever seen ♥
thanks
Amazing tutorial yet again! Could you maybe cover gates/entrances in a future tutorial please?
Gotta get me some new panic pop!
Are you building a world in Aseprite or just making a tileset and love the video and the stoner vibe lol
Thnx :)
This will give it more of that top down perspective, cause the house, ya know...
Great tutorial, as usual ;)
Hi ! Great videos ! I see the smoke effet. Do you have an Aseprite segment focused on animation ?
gorgeous but bro what's the mirror tool? omg that's nice
Damn impressive stuff! How long have you been using Aseprite?
over a year
@@PeterMilko That would do it haha
Thanks for the videos! Is this projection TOP-DOWN? Top-down view?
Sometimes...I binge watch all your pixel tutorials. They inspire me to stop coding and start pixeling.
Hey (: I really love your content! You inspired me so much and I'm totally hyped ^^ Say... could you make a video about character portraits? I tried, but I fail at this again and again. Would be awesome
you are my hero
Wow amazing, it's a shame I only recently found this channel! Instant subscribe :D
Welcome aboard!
@@PeterMilko thank you Pete!
3:00 look at the house upside down what do you see
Awesome video dude! Btw, your voice sounds like a chill, non-egotistical version of Chris Angel... lol
lol Ill take that compliment.
im very new to aseprite. what is a good canvas size for this for creating a game?
Hey, can you make a tutorial about wood props, because I can't really do this kind of stuff. Dev life
like wood props you can sit on, or put things on

@@dylanotto1675 he already did a video on furniture
he already did a video on furniture
Another great tutorial!
Can you do a tutorial/tips video on sprites with no outline?
good idea
@pixelpete do you have a discord server? The only thing I found was the half human games server.
Pete is the perspective on the roof correct? It looks almost tilted away from the front wall. Like its sliding off the back of the house. Do you have any tips how to stay in perspective? Any gems of knowledge would be amazing.
For a top down game yes. In real life no
I need tips on how to make multiple houses have a similar, coherent angle :(
maan! gotta make this house my phone background
Somehow I can't stop thinking about rts game, which is literally top-down (like sega dune2)
this is an awesome tutorial... You actually got me thinking i have some skill. lol
you are 👍
I have to wonder why so many pixel artists focus on perspective but don't actually draw their houses to proper perspective... So many pixel art houses don't have enough roof extended back. Your house is sitting in a 3 tile by 2 tile space. At minimum your house should match the 3 tile width with 3 tile depth. You should see more of the roof and less of the front in a proper perspective.
Yeah, it's a weird game perspective for sure...not really true to life with the orthographic view...keep finding myself wanting to show a little side...
hey there!!! can you make a tut for making roof pattern? I am searching ,but I can not find a good and quick way to not mess it up! I think roof is the most complicated part at least for me...match things, create the pattern, match the edges...thx!!!
Hey Pixel Pete!! I'm doing the sprite work for my own game, and I'm struggling to make a large cylindrical tower...i have the door concept down, just not the surrounding area. Its for a 2d top down (not isometric). Let me know on your thoughts!! Love your videos, they've been super helpful. Thanks!!
Thats a good idea for a video
Shared ya!
can you teach us how to make a walk animation with one of the character on this tutorial (fox/duck), that will be super helpfull (at least for me)
dobre video
Ďakujem
Hey Pete do you know of any good dark themes that work with asprite?
i havnt tried any plugins
Ok mate :)
How did you copy and paste the roof part and move it down?
Time stamp the part. I probably used the selection tool. Then you can move or paste a copy of the selection.
I love your tutorials ... but are you going to keep doing GB Studio tutorials?
ye im going to do a platformer tutorial soon!
Wish you had explained how to draw the roof
Hey pete, would you be willing to do a video on world building? My friends and I are making a game using unity, I'm doing all the pixel art, but we're not sure if you build the world with like a blank canvas and build onto it, or if you build it tile by tile.
Really depends on your workflow and what kind of experience you want to convey. Creating tilesets (see: Tilesetter) can help a lot for reusability and rapid iteration. Creating the entire world "blank canvas" style can end up looking much more fluid than using tiles.
Check out Stardew Valley, and compare it to Hyper Light Drifter. Both have great pixel art, but tell an entirely different story via their art style. Stardew ends up feeling familiar and homey, while HLD feels foreign and mysterious
@@sanovictus It's my friend's and I's first time making a game and I'm the one doing all of the artsy sorta stuff so anything helps a lot, since I'm quite new to it. So I honestly don't exactly know how they do it, I use Asprite as well to make my sprites for the game.
ye ill make a video about all that!
@@PeterMilko Awesome, thank you!
What's this furniture video you speak of?
House
When did you start doing pixel art?
about a 2 years ago
@@PeterMilko You started the same time you started developing Dwerve? Wow... That's very impressive!
