- This is the story about the Doctor, about the lonely god... He has seen so much, maybe too much. He has lost so much, maybe too much. Does the universe owe him? Do we owe him? he is the Time Lord, he was lost in the universe, trying to get back home all this time, but eventually he found it, isn't he lost again?

I think doctor who is a great example of the part of heroism that no one really sees, they save all these people, do their very best to help everybody but in reality it never works out perfectly, and they blame themselves for everything that goes wrong even if it was impossible to avoid, this breaks some heroes but then there are those few that realize that if they stop for that reason only more people will get hurt. They push through because they couldn't have it any other way
except the doctor is a fuckng timelord who killed more men than anybody else, lost more men than anybody else and suffered more lifs than anybody else

It's really interesting. Sully, the pilot who landed the plane in the Hudson: Apparently he sometimes wakes up shaking in the middle of the night, thinking he could have done better in this situation, even though nobody on that plane got hurt.
Don't be so overdramatic, it wasn't 4,5 Billion years, it was ONE DAY. He just repeated it and CANNOT remember, in fact. So, it was just one day, and yeah, it was a painful day, but not the same as 4,5 Billion years of anything.

I miss Peter Capaldi soo freaking much. He was the most heartbreaking one. He was soo lonely and he felt humble.
He tryed to help everyone..he accepted his fate at the end.

to me he was outside the box... not what i was expecting, the first episodes i really didnt like him, but them i realised it was part of the concept of this new doctor, he was getting his bearings on things. And by the time his time has a doctor ended, he was in my top 3.
I agree wholeheartedly with you , Peter capaldi’s Doctor is when I started to properly watch it , I absolutely loved his doctor and the depth and layers he brought to the character , he could do anything he wanted and yet chose to be a force of good, we should all strive to be like him , never cruel nor cowardly.

This is what the new Doctor is missing; Jodie Whitaker isn't a bad actor, but she's missing the unpredictable and dark side of doctor who, she is either nice and compassionate or she's witty. She misses a whole dynamic of his character, and that pisses me off so much.

To be honest, I really respect Matt Smith for keeping going despite multiple people, hundreds saying he’ll never live up to Tennant and stopped watching before he got a chance to prove himself. Saying he’ll just never live up to the hype. If anything his era was better than Tennant’s, especially his early work. Just bothers me that doctor who will die because a large percentage don’t like change when that has been the point of the show for 55 years...

Yeah, you're totally right. I just love this Series. It's just wonderful. Yeah, there are some weaker episodes, but who cares? All the others are such an enrichment. I haven't seen Jodie yet, but I'm hyped, just for the sake of these series. I don't think any doctor was bad. There were just good ones and amazing, yet perfect ones. And I hope so much, that the series is going to keep rolling for many years, so we have the opportunity to see even more brilliant doctors and his adventures. Why being sooo afraid of changes? I'm curious to see how that all's going to evolve. :)

Wow. No offense, but judging by your sentence, Game of Thrones would beat the story that inspired it, along with a thousand others that are ten times better. If you're only talking TV series, then yeah, GoT would be well up there, maybe in the Top 20s or 30s. But putting it in the same sentence as the phrase 'greatest story ever told' is just not right.

Let's not confuse Jodie with 13, tho. Anyone who's seen her acting knows she's more than capable of it. It just hasn't been written into her character. Give it time, it may in this next series. She has the ability, let's just hope the writing catches up.
Warm-Core Cyclones I’ve seen her in multiple roles. She’s pretty damn rubbish in all of them.
I really like Jodie Whittaker, but let’s be honest. The script she was given was pure crap. It ignored everything that made the doctor the doctor. She could of lived up to the role but it didn’t end well. Hopefully it improves next season.
I love how this truly brings out the best in each Doctor.
Whenever the Doctor regenerates, he becomes a different person, and we find that hard to accept and get used to. But at the end of Eleven's time, he said, everyone changes, and it's very true. We change in ways that are hidden, but he changes in ways that are much more obvious.
My favourite has always been David and Matt, however, this has truly given me a new appreciation for Christopher and Peter.
The Ninth Doctor had just come out from the war, and to see the enemies who he spared continue to cause trouble to the universe, he feels anger, rage, and sorrow. Only towards the end, does he accept that the war is a part of him, and that he has done what he believed to be right.
The Twelfth Doctor, is slightly bit more arrogant, he's really revealing his age, and no longer hiding his pride as a Timelord. Having finally accepted his past at the end of Trenzalore, he has become whole, and has finally become the Doctor.
What this show is trying to teach us is that. We should believe and have faith in our actions, and that we need to accept the past, because only by doing so will we be able to become whole.
This literally just made me feel like typing up this up. I felt like it was one of those English assignments where you have to analyse literature :')

I, for a long time, stayed away from Doctor who. I thought it was a bad, corny, stupid, and pointless show. Until I saw an episode. I saw one, and that turned into two and that turned into twelve and now I am awaiting more.
Doctor who shows how an open mind, a will, and a belief can go so far. It can open the path for so much. So many adventures. So many experiences that without this ideology you may never have achieved. I know I sound crazy, that a single show could provide so much. But anything can generate an inspirational idea. I hope that you understand how deep you can go with a simple show about a man who runs. Who runs but is never alone. Cause when he is, he ruins himself.

The best part about the Doctor is that he isnt like other protagonists, he always fights for what's right. But most protagonists see victory as victory. They want to win no matter what. The doctor has morals. He never aims to hurt or kill. So when he is seen as a hateful person, he is deeply hurt. Because his entire being is somebody who helps when no one else will

Well, it's still the "same" main character, just in a different body... that changes his personality... and his clothing... and his opinions... and the general tone of the serie- It's still The Doctor.
Unfortunately, the show seems to be nosediving due to bad writing and bad decisions... Jodie could have been alright, but there is some rubbish material behind her, so...

youre only thinking new who, there are TWENTY SIX years of classic who of adventures and freindships (and loss) to veiw. One thing the classic doctors didnt have was the time war, that was eight onwards
One of the most relatable foundations of the doctor is his intense, deep loneliness. Loneliness is a feeling everyone can relate to and feel.
And hes a man with more guilt on his soul, more loss, more pain, more loneliness in his heart than anyone else. And he moves forward. Jokes around and smiles in the face of it. The doctor loves, despite what he has been through.
I love that about him. And i want to do the same thing.
Don’t get me wrong, Jodie is a great actor, and the funny, sweet side of each doctor is what makes each one so unique. However there’s something that 13 doesn’t have that every other doctor before her has: A dark side, we need to see her angry, to complete the character

Why do you think people love stories about the chosen one? Or why do some people even idolize superheros. Or even why do people looove WWE superstars? The need for a hero is installed within our souls. And writers, comic book artists, directors have exploited that need for profit. Their is nothing wrong with loving them thou.. But i tell you😭 their is a Real hero who installed that need in your soul in the first place. Jesus christ left his throne in heaven and came to the world he taught he healed people then he was humbled betrayed humiliated killed and on the third day he rose from the dead. As God's sacrifice for our sins. If you humbly honestly pray repent for all your sins(read the10 commandments) and believe/trust that Jesus did all that for you ..You will be saved..Jesus saves you from hell fire🔥.. and gives you eternal life in heaven. This might be the last time you read the gospel..he is coming back soon not as the sacrificed lamb of God🐑 but as the king of the universe🤴 with fire in his eyes🔥. the Judge of all mankind. I'm so glad to see people finally coming around to Capaldi. Season 8 is honestly one of my favorites (aside from the finale, which is really fucking wonky). And, while I initially hated the overchimg narrative for season nine, as well as the last three episodes and the one about the Zygons, I realised how brilliant most of it actually was on second inspection. Moffet actually redeemed himself last season. That is no small accomplishment for him either.
The last three episodes? I'm sorry, but I can't imagine that, in my mind it's all blended in a huge ball where everything is overshadowed by the sheer awesomeness of Heaven Sent.
Georgia S. Which on the surface is an amazing idea, but at first viewing I found it rather silly once it was revealed what was actually going on. A second viewing alleviated this for !E, though. It basically all makes sense.

Same man… I feel the same way. I come back here to watch and appreciate for like the 1000th time what this show was, what made it so incredible. It’s this Doctor Who that keeps my love for it so fresh and eternal. 12 really was the last of the greatness, I miss him so much, we were really blessed then, honestly. I never felt there was enough of his doctor. It’s a shame.
honestly I stopped considering half the stuff past 10th as cannon.
The music makes you forget that almost every sentence the doctor says isn’t related to the one after.
They call him the "Destroyer of Worlds" because he can prevent *them* from killing everything, meaning that he has more power than their entire armada does. He tries to help people, the Daleks and various other enemies try to kill those he protects, he protects the people from those enemies. They call him a monster because the choices he has to make end up escalating into terrible things out of his control, and when he's alone with no one to reassure him otherwise he ends up taking it to heart as one of the many things he regrets - one of the many things that turn him into the mad man in the blue box.
And what's worse, is that no one can just come through time and give him that reassuring talk because anyone that can or will is already dead.

Sideswipe27 I highly recommend it. Doctor Who is my favourite show of all time. if you're looking for starter episodes, I recommend Blink from season 3 of the revival. It's a good solid introductory episode.

This is what I DONT see in the 13th doctor..I don't see the time Lord victorious or the destroyer of worlds or the rage of fire and ice of the time Lord. The 13th doctor to me also became to attach to her companions. In revolution of the daleks when Ryan and Graham were leaving she actually wanted to try and reverse time a few months so that they could stay...that upset me abit.. Like I know she's different from the other regenerations but the thing is... She's older than them not matter how different her personality she's older, "seen more, lost more and loved more" yet she doesn't act like it. If she was one of the younger generations it would be fine but after 10, 11 and 12 with no matter how childish 10 and 11 were you saw the essence of the time Lord. Especially with what happened with the Master and Gallifrey and with an immediate reappearance of the daleks after prison, we should have seen THE DOCTOR come out in her....
Wow damn.... Sorry for the rant but like... I just want to see the thousands of years old time Lord. Her character is nice.. But not for after the 12 doctor

Got to admit, the cinematography improvement in Capaldi's reign in comparison to Eccleston's is extraordinary. How far the show has come in terms of popularity and therefore budget is amazing.
Why do you think people love stories about the chosen one? Or why do some people even idolize superheros. Or even why do people looove WWE superstars? The need for a hero is installed within our souls. And writers, comic book artists, directors have exploited that need for profit. Their is nothing wrong with loving them thou.. But i tell you😭 their is a Real hero who installed that need in your soul in the first place. The Doctor is a lonely god. I have to say I miss David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldie. I think you could easily put out a few specials for the fans with the 3 characters. I think these 3 doctors were particularly fond of the community

They really chose brilliant actors for each iteration. Ecclestone really gave that "war-weary veteran" feel, still dogged with the instincts and hate. Tennant had the feel of someone trying to be a new man but was still haunted. Matt had that manic alien-ness of the Doctor in full. So similiar to humans but it was the small things that set your alarms off. Capaldi had the wrath.
and i felt NONE of this from the 2 newer actors
the BEST the female doc did was the episode that must not return to canon
and seeing thuroughly that said episode stays where it belongs, in the bowels of the nightmare child, where it no doubt was born from in the first, last, and ever uncertain present place

Watching this made me realize why I don't like the current doctor.
There's none of this in Whittaker's Portrayal. No hidden fury, no scary aloneness, none of the alien bits you get glimpses of in the other doctors.
I think alot of it is down to the writing but its still there.
The doctor has been flattened, the current incarnation lacks the depth of pain that we've seen in the past..
especially when she came right after one of the most profond, dark, broken doctor that even then continued to help. (Peter Capaldi was by far my favorite doctor with the experience and feeling of time past he brought to the character).

@@snogboxes Series 12 is much better, the writing still isn't perfect but you can tell it's getting there. It really establishes 13 as the Doctor and has many exciting twists and cliffhangers.
The doctors morals where so deeply embedded in his regret and failure, his one only failure, 12 is angry because he didnt realise and accepts it before the end 13 should be a fucking dream, like just say all of it was non cannon
@@williambouchard4077 I agree with you big time! I'm hoping that season 13 will be better (i'm absolutely terrified they're going to end the show!! I've been watching it ever since i can remember and i know i'm only 14 but it has helped me get through a lot of stuff (e.g traumas, bulling etc.)) They've changed up the companions and i hope that helps it because personally i felt it was too crowded before especially because of the other companies it's been only 1 for longer than 3 episodes or something expect with Rory of course. I just hope it improves plus when the new Doctor comes i think Yaz will be leaving. I hope she doesn't because i love her character and her as an actress also she said she loves playing Yaz.
(I just want to clarify that i wasn't having a go at you or anything i was just saying what i also thought and i might've gone on for a little too long sorry. I don't know anyone who likes Doctor Who so i can't really talk about it.)

There was no personality in the performance and no grounding was given by Chibnall. It was just plain, couldn't give a damn, laziness. As far as they were concerned they had a contract and got paid.

Everyone says what’s wrong with the 13th Doctor is that she has no dark side. Well, Chibs gave us a dark side and it was just pathetic. The real problem in the writing is that it’s like a new character.
She doesn’t need a dark side to have wisdom, knowledge and actually character growth. This Doctor doesn’t show the billions of years she’s lived, and that’s what annoys me.
We’re past the time war, I’m happy The Doctor is happy now. We don’t need a dark side, but the character should be changed forever still. You should be able to see the old in her eyes, like Matt Smith achieved.

Very much enjoying most of DW, I have to admit that I don't think it's a good show overall. But there are quite a few good episodes, and even some masterpieces. But most of it ranges from bland/enjoyable to just bad.
I greatly enjoyed watching the original doctors back in the day, and was mildly looking forward to the reboot of DW. However as I watched, I liked it less and less. The doctor seemed more petty, a touch sexist towards men, and a LOT more mary sue.
The mary sueness just made me too nauseous. The episode where the master was going to destroy the earth and the whole planet prayed to the doctor so he could break free was simply beyond disgusting. I stopped watching.
