The GTX 1080 Ti is one of the best components I have ever purchased. Still strong even after 5 years.
"Strong" is a very questionable word here, but I'll agree it was one of the best ever made.

It is not one of the best, It IS THE BEST.
I bought mine on release at a retailer in my country (back in august 2017 for a whopping 899€) got the "MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G" still using it to this day.
I've started to realized over the years (especially during the start and end of all the crypto shenanigans) how lucky I was to pick one up when I did (was my first flagship GPU too).
My wallet still recovering from my 3090 from 4 years ago 😂
Ngl the A770 that I bought has actually been pretty bug free. Only issue I had was that the first two times using it, I needed to switch my hdmi port. Never had to do it since then though so might not even have been driver related :/
Give them til the end of this year when the Battlemage cards come out, the drivers should just about be perfected and if the Alchemist cards further drop in price, they will unquestionably be the kings on the budget end.
With an A750 you already get better performance than a used 1080 Ti at a similar price and it comes new with 3 year warranty. Plus ray tracing which may even be usable depending on game.
For tasks like video editing there's just no competition in this price range, for years Intel iGPUs have been better than any cheaper Nvidia and AMD GPUs, Arc takes it to the next level.

I think people often forget that if a driver update gives a game 120% more FPS, that probably means the game was functionally broken before the update. They didn't pull out that performance increase out of thin air.
I'd assume that most people are aware of that, but might not hurt to remind of it, especially given the context of this video.^^
Im one of the rare few arc a770 users i guess, but its basically a 6700 xt level card a year and few months ago when I swapped to it and compared. Almost identical performance then. Ive also never once crashed due to the card. Though Im consistent with what I play.

Absolutely spot on about the RTX 3070. It could have been an anomaly from NVIDIA like the 970 or 1080 Ti if it had 12 GB VRAM. NVIDIA ensured that did not happen, so that they could sell a 4070 2 years later.

As a 3070 user, it's a tragedy that a card this good only has 8gb of VRAM. FFS, they put 12gb of VRAM on the 3060. Why couldn't they do the same with the 3070?
Some crap to do with bus widths, also excluding 4 gigs of ram saves NVidia like 10 bucks per unit, I didn't know they were that petty but the cards were selling fine so I don't think they mind all that much people got screwed over.
To make you buy a new gpu 2 years later :(
Wouldn’t have done much. There’s a 16GB 3070, and the games it was tested with didn’t even try to use more than the 8GB the stock card had anyway. Only one or two games actually tried to use more, and they had to be cranked and, in one case, use custom shaders, if I remember right.
Nvidia wants people fall for this bait. They made a good product, but always make something a little off, so you can buy a newer one as soon as possible.
For an educated answer: band width. It has a 256 bit bus. Each memory chip provides 32 bits. If u divide 256 by 32 u get 8. So u can put 1gb chips for a total of 8gb or 2gb chips for 16gb. Nvidia chose the cheaper (even if its pennies worth amounts) option. 3060 has a 192 bit bus. Divide by 32 and u get 6. So same trick, either 1gb or 2gb for a total of 6gb or 12gb.
the vega 8 igpu doesn't have enough memory bandwidth to push over 60fps at low in many games, so im now the proud owner of an asus rx 470 mining 4gb which i bought brand new for half the price of a used gaming variant. the only downsides are the lack of decent video output (only has single link dvi-d, this means a 1080p 60hz limit) and the fact it WILL NOT output any video unless its running on windows with its drivers installed, so i still rely on the igpu to enter the bios and such.
im currently on the hunt for a good rx 470 (not 570 as it uses more power for near equal performance) 8gb, and this only because the shutoko map for beamng uses like 12gb of vram. still runs on even the 2gb igpu but i need more frames. i don't plan on playing modern AAA games so this has been more than enough gpu for me.

RX 570 4GB owner here. the card's still kicking, but I guess I'll have to put it down once I upgrade. 7 years of driver support for Polaris-based GPUs and 5 or 6 for Vega GPUs made me realize how good of the cards they were (and still are for some). sure, I've encountered issues with drivers crashing sometimes, and some drivers just give me a blue-tinted video, but hey, it performed quite well at stock speeds. the fact that it has (for today's standards) a low TDP of 150W, and is meant for ITX builds made me realize Sapphire makes good GPUs. might consider getting modded drivers to prolong the lifespan of it, but who knows.

The AMD one is actually accurate because on linux due to reasons people are hating on NVIDIA(even more than it should at times..) due to rather poor driver support and rather AMD's will just works and is the best for desktop and gaming, xp.
That's what I love about AMD on linux. Install the OS and it's literally working out of the box.
Yes, but you can only run games on it because you're a second class citizen. You wanna do something more productive? Maybe some AI stuff, photogrammetry, programming? AMD is useless for that, your only choice is Nvidia, even on Linux.
Also, the drivers are not that bad. They are just closed source, but they work well enough.
@@ThePortuguesePlayer Yeah i know that, both are pretty much capable of remotely doing the same things, NVIDIA will be a lot better with CUDA than AMD with ROCm, but if only for desktop and gaming AMD will be a better option, still i am hopeful for NVIDIA, hope the work for NVK gives fruition and so on, its not bad but they could do more and not be all that much..
AMD does just fine with most stuff you've mentioned (unsure about AI), because as far as I'm aware, AMD GPUs have no problems with photo editing, and GPU doesn't even affect programming, so I don't know where you got that one from.
Also, when I was still using an NVIDIA GPU (RTX 2070), the drivers really are that bad, I nearly lost it with the amount of issues I had getting those god forsaken drivers to work properly, with uninstalls, reinstalls, band-aid fixes I found on fourms, display server compatibility issues, etc.
I can't guarantee the opposite for my new AMD GPU though, as I haven't tested it on Ubuntu yet, just Windows, due to the fact I haven't really needed to compile any Linux only applications recently, but I have heard that it is much, much better for AMD on Linux vs NVIDIA on Linux. Also, I haven't actually heard any problems about AMD on Linux other than OpenGL being subpar, and that's not a Linux-exclusive thing.

As a user of a Macbook Pro from 2011 with Intel HD Graphics 3000, I see this as a absolute win.
My first gpu was a 710, then upgraded to a 1050ti and finally i saved up for a new pc and now have a 3060
got a gtx 1080 in 2017, that 2 letters cost me a gigachad status almost 7 years later...
WE NEED PART TWO!!!
As a 1080ti owner, gave me a good chuckle
had a 1070 and upgraded to a 3080 Ti a while back.
Both MONSTERS.
I got a 10 series titan on old xeons, the 1080 description works for me lmao.
My 980ti is still serving me wonderfully after 8-ish years.
I just repasted mine last week, still works like a treat
I hope my card will age that well, but these new releases have me doubting it will be much good in 5 years. Fm2023 is sub 60 fps, cityskylines 2 Is barely over 30, Alan wake 2 is barely over 60. And I'm probably already going to stick to 1080p to because of it. And it sucks cuz I had bought it for 4k, but back to 1080p or 1440p for me.
Me going from Intel HD 520 to 4060ti.
*I AM INEVITABLE*
Snaps and realizes I am out of VRAM
im still with the Intel HD 520, i can confirm it's faster than the 4060ti
My hdmi cable was plugged into my motherboard and my intel iris hd graphics™️ were at higher FPS than my gpu
@@shittycatto Agreed
Oh no bro, you snapped away your Vram.
that arc gpu broooooo
I love my GTX 1050. Yes, this graphic card is old as hell, but I can play a lot of games with 60 fps if they're not too recent, and play a lot of online games with friends.
While my old office PC is slowly becoming older every year, 1050 keeps carrying my game sessions.
1050 ti still ran strong till i swapped for a 4060 got for christmas. had it for almost 7 years! holy cow!
Me still rocking with a 660 ti even in 2024
The first game i played on my 3070 was forza and I got the low memory notification instantly lmai
as a 3070 user, i was surprised and thought the video read my pc and showed my card first.
GTX 1050 SLAPS🔥🔥🔥🔥
RTX 2080 TI still going strong.
Had one and sold it on and got a 4070 gtx, Its the perfect time to invest lol and also alot quieter card lol 😉 , Still a solid card, The 2080ti, Its carried my older pc at the time for years ! 😅
@@onlypvpcaterina-6669 the RTX 2080ti is not a good card right now even used it is a bad card, you get way better cards right now that eat less power and has way better Feautures and Performances for way less money.
At the release it was a great card yes no doubt about it.
To get a RTX 4070 was a bad idea because if you had a RTX 2080ti so you can easy run a RTX 4070ti and it will be the better product.
But the Performance between a RTX 2080ti and a Rx6800xt was so HUGE that it was kinda strange that the RTX 2080ti even had any rights to exist after the Rx 6000 release
@@onlypvpcaterina-6669 Im still using mine, its rock solid for 1440p still! Keeping it unless 5090 offers an insanely efficiënt alternative.
what the hell is a 4070 gtx do u not know about pc's at all?@@onlypvpcaterina-6669
What's the music at the outro?
And now u got me wondering how the GT 710 compares to the Intel UHD620 I'm running xd On Linux, to make things funnier, though probably data on that is near impossible to come by
as a 2080 ti user not having my card mentioned, i see this as an absolute win
2070 Super here. That GPU is so forgotten that I see this as a win as well!
