Part of the reason they intentionally inflated 40 series prices, is so idiots will pay the already inflated prices for 30 series. There's no defensible reason for them to cost as much as they want right now other than Nvidia's greed & price fixing during crypto.
@@yuvrajsingh099 that's all good but the price and performance are the only things that matter ultimately, as other factors are secondary. No one will buy a weaker GPU because it's more energy efficient unless it's significantly cheaper, even during this crsis.
So Basically, Nvidia has too much overstock of last-gen cards. 3090's,80's,70's,60's etc. To compensate, this newer generation the 40 series cards will be sold at roughly twice the price until the inventory of the last-gen cards is exhausted. Which, when it is, the cards will assume their proper prices. But...there's more: nVidia is selling next-gen 4060 class products and rebranding them as 4080's under even higher prices than 3090's. That was the main point Linus is making. It's a scam! You'll buy either an overpriced next-gen card or a price-fixed last-gen card. Either way, you are screwed.
I knew Nvidia was gonna do something cuz now the GPU prices have gone down they have to find a way to cheat the market to get equivalent revenue. But I didn't know that Nvidia is so overconfident that they did something like this
Especially because crypto has crashed and now they wont have a crush of miners buying up all their stock and jacking up prices on gamers. So they just take a 4070 and call it a 4080 12gb and sell it for double the price lmao. Scumbags

Yea I was thinking of upgrading my rtx 2060 to a 3070. I don’t want anything more expensive like a 2080 because I’m perfectly fine with 1080-1440p gaming. I don’t need 4k I find that to just be way too much to spend. After I get my 3070 maybe this December, i might never need to upgrade again because I’m satisfied with how it runs seeing videos on it.
@@Killernochance yeah, that's crazy what they did, doubling the price since way back then. From 480ti to 980ti. They only got away with that because nobody really stopped from buying the GPUs. My first GPU was like a GForce 2, hardly paid anything on it and worked amazing for CS and Soldier of Fortune and other old as hell games that were decent back then, lol
Actually it's worse than that. The weight of the GPU is very high. Because of this weight in the process of taking out the GPU you can accidentally break the PCI Express slot. Also due to the limited amount of times you can connect and disconnect the power cables combined with the potential of video card catching on fire lowers the resale value significantly. It feels as if Nvidia can no longer sustain the performance given the current fabrication processing limitation. I am talking about going 5nm or less.
I use some clear fishing wire to invisibly hold the extra GPU weight. I tied it to the top of the case and it comes down just enough to keep the GPU in place, can't see it and doesn't get in the way of airflow. It's just a loop. So I don't have to untie it to remove the GPU I just slide the loop out of the way
I hate what Nvidia is becoming it's all about releasing the Next Generation and not actually making a significant performance gain. Granted most tech companies are like this especially in the smartphone world
the problem with both industries is people are critical of both but people still buy both anyways. The problem isn’t how much we wine, its whether or not we actually bother to boycott bad companies, but nobody boycotts anything, so bad products keep coming out
The next-gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards including the RTX 4090 and TX 4080 will be bundled with such cables however, each package will include just one cable so enthusiasts who like to unplug their hardware a lot and try new stuff will have to be careful because you will need new cables every time you run out of the 30 life cycles period.
Although 30 life cycles sounds bad, I think the majority of users will only desire to plug in/out just a couple of times. Who really needs that many cycles, besides 0.1%(?) of the gaming population? By the time I unplug my 2070 super, for the 2nd or 3rd time(?), it will be to upgrade. So, I'm not convinced. That being said, I would have thought it was basic engineering/manufacturing 101 to make a product that can be handled 100's of times.
Just put a bit of solder on the cables and if they start to overheat, the solder will melt, and reconnect the plug even better than before 😂, then the dongle is permanently attached to the GPU 🤫
To be fair to Nvidia, the 30 plug cycles have been standard for decades. But it might be that current cables can go way past the 30 cycle standard. It is strange that companies are bringing attention to this if nothing has changed for the standard.
Most people will just buy a modular pigtail type adapter that just stays plugged into the GPU permanently then just connect/disconnect from that. Easy workaround.

To compensate, this newer generation the 40 series cards will be sold at roughly twice the price until the inventory of the last-gen cards is exhausted. Which, when it is, the cards will assume their proper prices.

Me who still rocking APU : I told you.
So I don't have to untie it to remove the GPU I just slide the loop out of the way
The 40 series is on a 4nm process though. Also the power cable has the same number of cycles (30) that they have had for many generations.
I hate what Nvidia is becoming it's all about releasing the Next Generation and not actually making a significant performance gain. Granted most tech companies are like this especially in the smartphone world

You never disappoint🤣
Nvidia did disappoint
If you do intend to plug/unplug the cables more than once, you should have a fire extinguisher ready and nearby.

@@nifiga_prikolno I'll wait for a while though, cause I recently upgraded to a 3090ti, from evga. Rip evga, you inspired me to switch to team red, gl on your future endeavors.
I'm buying an Arc, was really hoping the 40 series would be better
The fucking God of War music in the background kills me lmao
It's the whole stack too lol, they pulled a 710 again with the 1630 but worse, the 1060 series are not longer affordable for most of the market, and the 750ti equivalent I bought for $115 brand new cant be found for under $200. Fuck GPU pricing the last 5 years, because this is only the pinnacle of the crazy ass inflation and name abuse they've done.
I honestly wanna see how the 4070 compares to the competition.
1:04😂
Hope RX 7000 is going to be as good as they could be
Nvidia: Oh no Are we the baddies ?
Every gpu owner : yes
I'm still not convinced I need something better than my 1080ti. This is sad.
As amazing as real-time ray tracing is, the tech is not there yet. My 1080 will serve me even longer.
I thought you were talking about Kevin O'Leary for a second 🤔
Well rip, guess I won't buy the 4090 anymore... really needed the upgrade but I guess I'll buy the 3090 ti when the 4090 releases
Don't plan on prices dropping further theres a recording of Jensen ceo of nvidia saying he's intentionally choking out the market with 3000 chips to keep prices high. In fact if you look on newegg most the 3090s and 3080s are on back order.
@@adalstan here in Sweden we usually don't have that same problem because our gpus are much higher price than anywhere else because of double tax
This meme feels unfinished
why?
nvm i see now
Always don't get excited or disappointed.
Wait for the reviews, the benchmarks and comparisons.
Most importantly be informed and make an informed decision.
Don't be quick to jump all over guys.
Of course I feel bad for those who have been waiting to get or upgrade their GPUs. Must be feeling anxious
60 class die now being marketed as a flagship, what a time to be alive
That plug issue has just gotten worse
