Thanks for the tutorial! after finishing the update everything works, BUT, the waterfall is red! I am not having much luck finding info on how to change it back.
For a modern piece of equipment, that's pretty archaic way of updating the firmware. Looks like the 70's with Xmodem and a terminal like that. Thanks for the info.

Just be glad they don't use tftp to load the f/w. So far, my search for a tutorial on upgrading G90 f/w from Linux has been fruitless. I used/supported Windows for 20 years to put food on the tablet, but when I retired in 2010, I decided I was DONE with Windows. Everybody just assumes that "everybody" uses Windows.. It aint so..
my g90 just bricked while performing some digital mode work. the screen wouldn't turn on. I performed these steps to reflash it and now it works great! Thanks!

Mine did exactly the same tonight, using CAT control, but followed this and thankfully back to normal, de g0tue

When updating make sure the small box in lower left corner is checked, 1k. When you click on the software update in Windows file. If not, you will brick it .

The latest 1.78 update has fixed 2 issues i had. the radio would stopped tuning and the speaker mic lost all of its control features.
What are the differences between FW 1.74 and FW 1.75 ?
I keep hitting the spacebar and cannot get it to pause so I can update FW...I've done it 10 times...
I was able to upload the main body firmware the first time...no problems. Any idea what is going on...
Its like it is not recgonizing the spacebar or other keystrokes...the baudrate is correctly set...

I have a problem and maybe you can get an idea how to fix it. I completed the 1.78 firmware update on the main unit and was in the process of updating the display unit when the G90 shut down. I can't turn on the G90. I was plugged into electrical power so the unit had power throughout the update process. I cannot turn on the transceiver. . The G90 transceiver was not hot or overheated. Hope you have a suggestion or two.

when I update to 1.75 or 1.77, it always shows 1.74
when I try to update the display, (power on + spacebar) it flat out kills the radio, and I have to unplug the power for the radio to do anything

Can you jump firmware updates, or do you have to install each one before you can install the newest one?
Yes, it seems that each upgrade erases the old firmware before installing the newer version.

Well I was not so lucky the radio did not come back it gave me the following msg. at the end.

Laci, when you go to select the firmware in the little window, you HAVE to select the little box at the bottom that says "1k", it will NOT work if you don't. This drove me nuts.
watch this video and at 6:45 in when he transfers the firmware, make shure the 1K CSECK BOX IS CHECKED.
