J.Cole is j-hope’s muse! His name is inspired by him and his surname is Jung so there’s a link there with the ‘J’ as well. His first mixtape Hope World is inspired by Cole World. He used to dance freestyle to J.Cole when he first started so he went back to his roots by giving Cole a huge section of the song, while he danced along with it

Here you can see JHOPE is dancing underground while JCOLE is rapping, which takes him back to his origins bc JHOPE was a street hiphop dancer so obviously the genre had a massive influence on his career and him as an artist and a person. He really loves Jcole and I'm so happy he got to collab with him before he went to military.
3:27 , To answer your question, Jhope said he got the first part “J-Ho” because of his own name Jung Hoseok but he was looking for something better. He heard about the Pandora's Box myth, and then he chose to call himself J-Hope. And he has recently confirmed ( in suchwita) that his name is inspired by J.Cole

There is so much history about JHope and his love for JCole. Before JHope blew up, he used to dance to the JCole songs. Check out Hip Hop Phile (I prefer the live in Japan video) from BTS. Jhope has always said his role model or muse is jcole hence why he gave a majority of the bars to Jcole while he danced along to him. 71 year old BTS Army here. It was filmed in New York City. J-hope of BTS grew up as a street dancer in South Korea and danced to the pioneers of hip hop such as Wu Tang Clan. He idolized J Cole for years. His first mixtape was "Hope World".

Thank you for reacting to jhope, he released his solo album jack in the box last year, was headliner on lollapalooza and is currently serving at the Korean military (it’s mandatory for able bodied males there). The bts fandom misses him dearly 🥲 he’s always lifting up people, he’s a great dancer and such a kind and sweet person with deeeeep thoughts.

So excited to see your bts journey ^_^ I’m sure others have already said but this release was super personal to jhope, dedicated to his fans amidst his enlistment in the army, and a homage to his roots in dance and his idol in jcole (hence why j hope gave him crazy bars, like what honour!) You’re right with the name haha ! But j hopes style recently has had more a rock element than this, I’d recommend arson next maybe ! He’s known for having a really fun characterful flow, and he’s meticulous and thoughtful with his projects and concepts ! And he’s the dance leader in bts, so I alwayssss recommend his freestyle dancing too bc it’s magical
Jung Hoseok (j-hope) is actually a big fan of J.Cole! I think his stage name is heavily inspired on him as j-hope before debuting as a rapper in BTS was a hip-hop dancer. He even named his first solo album "Hope World"... so many good songs there, you should check some. "Jack in the Box" is the newest album though.
I think it was a great honor for him to make music with his biggest idol. If I am not wrong, this MV was shooted in NY after j-hope performed in Lollapalooza last year.

This isn't typical of J-hope's music. He actually has a lot of different sounds, like dance songs, bright bouncy songs, and more gritty sound with more traditional hip-hop mixed with some rock.
Try his "More" and "Arson" for a more gritty sound, or "Daydream" and "Ego" for brighter songs, or "Airplane" for a chill vibe.
I always assumed it was filmed in the US- it was, check the street signs.
J-hope has more than one sound. I recommend Arson as a really good second song for him.

BTS has their own version of J. Coles song Born Sinner called Born Singer they recorded WAY back in 2013 and put it out on SoundCloud but in 2022 they were able to finally put it on their anniversary album "Proof" There are three performances of it. RM always changes his verse to update it live

J Cole is J Hope's muse. He met him while he (J Hope) was performing at Lollapalooza in Chicago last summer. J Hope has always really liked J Cole and used to dance to him as a teen (hence he is dancing to him in this MV). J hope is dance leader of BTS. He is also a good rapper. You should react to him at Lollapalooza. This group is very, very talented. Also react rap line of BTS (J Hope, RM, Suga)... UGH, Cypher 3, Outro Tear. Live versions are best. Also I really love BTS Fire and Pied Piper.

Jhope has always looked up to Jcole. He's a huge fan, has been for many years. Jhope's real name is Jung Hoseok, the JHope came from wanting to be hope for his members and Army 😭💜. He always puts out an amazing vibe. I'm GenX so this is my kinda Hip Hop and Rap 💖. There's a video of Jhope meeting Jcole and it's so wholesome. Love them both
