As good as this official video is, at least 2 of the live performances are even better......live is when the guitarist, Jonhhny Diesel ( aka Mark Lizotte ), joins them on vocals for a brilliant acapella finnish.
@@Zorbacles There are 2 Hey Hey videos from different nights .... .the 2nd one appears to be a special occasion and not in the usual studio......from memory, I think it could even be on a proper stage. ?
I'm sure I just punched out a tear watching this and I not sure why,, must be getting soft Barnsey and John F are older than me not sure about Diesel though Have their albums was there to watch East Album Tour Concert at the Darwin Amphitheatre in 1980 jumped the fence lol ( should have paid ),, all 3 are amazing those 70s and 80s Aye,,, We only get to do it once though and that is a Shite thing to do to a man Aye.
They got absolutely hammered making this video. Jimmy said in an interview that when they had finished filming they bundled John into the limo but when the driver asked him where he lived he couldn'tremember.
People knew Jimmy to be a heavy drinker in his early Chisel Days but John with his squeaky clean image could drink him under the table. The lads liked a drink.and it didn't affect their voices at all.
... And down the rabbit hole you go... But listen to them live. Always, listen to them live. These are TRUE performers... They don't NEED the extra technology to make their voices MORE perfect.
This song was a major part of Jimmy Barnes's pivot to soul after being Australia's biggest selling rock and roll star for over a decade. And it proved to be massively successful for him. And John Farnham is just the GOAT. He went along for the ride with this track.
John, Jimmy and guitarist Mark (also known as Diesel) are great friends - and it shows. Jimmy and Mark are brother-in-laws through their respective wives.
You guys really need to check out "Cold Chisel". That's the band Jimmy Barnes used to be in. Try some of the following. Bow River - live Ringside 2003 Georgia - live last stand Wild thing - live When the war is over - live ringside 2003. I'm pretty sure you guys will love them
Always, always do Aussie artists LIVE!! There are at least 2 other live versions of this brilliant song which really shows their mateship and talent which are sooo much better than this studio version.
i love how i am always surprised by how great they sound together and harmonize. hearing separately you would never guess. and whenever they sing together they always sound like they having fun. guess 2 professionals that respect each other, and total confidence in their own stardom.
G'day again guys👋👋 You can never go wrong with Jimmy or John 🙂 The guitarist is 'Diesel' aka Mark Lazotte. He was an 80s child with his band Johnny Diesel and The Injectors.(also,he is married to Jimmy's wifes sister) For a young Diesel, checkout Cry in Shame from 1989👍👍 then move on to his other hits like- Tip of My Tongue, Never Miss Your Water, 15 Feet of Snow, Come to Me.... ✌️❤️
Talking of Australian artists performing together, you should check out John Farnham and Olivia Newton John from The Main Event Concert singing Please Don't Ask Me; this performance is pure theatre, and a beautiful version of John's romantic ballad.
From the same concert, John tries his hand at opera with Australia's Phantom Anthony Warlow. Look out for Anthony's Frank Spencer impersonation, a tribute to the original Phantom Michael Crawford.
Great reaction guys but with Australian artists you always react to the live version please, I promise you will be much happier and it really does show their talent in its rawest form. Thanks for sharing
I grew up on these two guys, they were regulars in my hometown Melbourne Australia and whilst we loved them we had no idea how truly outstanding they were as we assumed people, from OS would be better. I dare anyone to sing like Jimmy, he’s off chops. Johnny is an artist
I like to make the other Aussies jealous every time this is reacted to by pointing out that I've seen it live. Twice, because I also saw Jimmy perform it with Diesel.
Great song, great performers but you really need to watch one of the live versions of this, and anything from John and Jimmy, but in particular John , always watch live performances where possible, simply epic live.
Noooooooooooooooo! Wrong video ! The best one is of this song sung LIVE on stage by them is at the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards before the cream of the Aussie entertainment business. It is sensational !!! On the ARIA awards video, their friendly energy is electric and their singing work, particularly John Farnham's vocal gymnastics, is amazing !!!. (Even Jimmy admits that John is the greater artist!) PLEASE check it out because you will sooo be denied the pleasure of it if you do not. I'm waiting in anticipation. Also, you will always be surprised with John's singing as he sings in over 20 genres - from soft ballads to really hard rock and everything in between. The man is a vocal genius! ( I like the way you deliver your videos to us. )
You really need to see a live performance of this song where it’s performed as a trio with John, Jimmy & Diesel (guitarist). The Hey, Hey It’s Saturday version is (imho) the best but all the live performances are incredible
I think they both got really drunk doing this one together 😆. I love this song as they are my two fave singers. I also love Mark Lizotte/Johnny Diesel’s voice (guitarist). I also love Jimmy as the lead singer of classic Aussie rock band Cold Chisel
You guys have gotta check out Jimmy with Cold Chisel doing "Bow River" live at Ringside. One of the greatest performances anywhere , anytime by anyone . Epic
John also did a duet with Anthony Warlow, a top notch opera singer, Granada and they make it fun. Both are talented freaks can't go wrong with either Barnsey or Farnsey. Diesel is the next gen he can sing too.
Yes, they are good friends, and they are both still married to their one true love that they found in their youths. The guitarist is jimmy’s brother in law diesel.
This a Sam and Dave cover song from 1966. They were an R &B duet. Dave has passed but Sam is now 88 . Sam and Jimmy did a duet Soothe Me. I believe it was done 2021 or 2022. Let's not forget Johnny Diesel the guitarist ( Jimmy's brother inlaw too) John Farnham can sing anything from pop to opera. All of Jimmy's and John's reaction must be live as their performances are a show in themselves.
They both are ridiculously powerful, and rarely get a chance to stretch out when they're doing a duet because they have to pull back so they don't overpower. Another example where one of them gets to go full out is Jimmy's duet with Tina Turner - 'Simply the Best'. For John, it's probably his duet with Musical Theater singer Anthony Warlow - 'Grenada'.
Healing prayers for John Farhnam. He had to undergo a 12-hour surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his mouth which required jaw reconstruction. That was in August 2022. As of September 2023 he is cancer free.
I can't remember the name of the song, but it's off 'The Lost Boys' soundtrack, with Jimmy Barnes and INXS, an awesome song. You should check it out. Cheers.
Awesome reactions,as always 👏. ..am not tryna takeaway the fire from Barnsey and Farnsey, but just hinting here. Guitarist ,Johnny Diesel , has some cruissey numbers up hes belt.. Try explore, you won't regret it 😀.. ... Once again, luv yr reactions 🙏..... Cheerio from Down Under 🌺
You just have to check out John farnham singing when the war is over from a live show called the last time, its from 2003. Not together with jimmy barnes. Singing SOLO. That performence is definetly one of the best ive heard with him.
I just know you guys would love Cold Chisel’s Bow River live in 2003, Barnsey was the lead singer of the band but Ian Moss the guitarist is also awesome
They both have covered so many music genre, particularly Jouhn who yes has done Pop Rock, but you should hear is covers of ACDC (Long way to the top) and Led Zeppelin (Black dog - sung as a sound check before a concert), and maybe with Olivia Newton John (Please don't ask me) but there are so many more and fortunately done Live and in concert!
To see two other aspects of John's work check out a duet with Olivia Newton John singing 'Please Don't Ask Me' from the Main Event Concert and also his Opera/Comedy piece with Anthony Warlow from the same concert. Gives you a taste of his many talents.
Thanks for reacting, and glad you enjoyed! I'd only say, please, do yourself and your audience a favour and always listen to John Farnham live, it's so much better! Anything from the Chain Reaction concert or the concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are the places to start if you get a song of his requested. Trust me, you'll be glad you did, just so much of a better vibe than studio stuff. :) Here is a live version of this song that is much better - you might want to watch it even for yours own enjoyment if you enjoyed the video clip: ruclips.net/video/8gzH9qk8cOc/видео.html
Diesel on guitar is a must view. The live versions of this song feature him vocally towards the end and give a glimpse of how good he is too. Certainly not out of place amongst Jimmy and John. Cry in Shame from when he was a part of Johnny Diesel and the Injectors would be a great start. ruclips.net/video/UwLVHsg6OhM/видео.html
Anything with these two singers is absolutely OK by me. My fellow compatriots in Australia have been spoilt for years by hearing these guys LIVE over a period of decades so they just wish for you to have the same privilege. This video is ok but these guys are at their best live! For your own entertainment watch the “heh heh it’s Saturday” version of this. Amazing acapella ending with John, Jim and Diesel finishing with no instruments.
Barnsey, Farnsey and a splash of Diesel will create fire! Sooo good.
Their live performance on "Hey Hey it's Saturday " is even better
As good as this official video is, at least 2 of the live performances are even better......live is when the guitarist, Jonhhny Diesel ( aka Mark Lizotte ), joins them on vocals for a brilliant acapella finnish.
agree. I particularly like the 'Hey, Hey It's Saturday' version.
Yes!@@carokat1111
Diesel also just happens to be Barnseys brother in law.

John can sing around 20 different genres of music. They are both awesome human beings. We’re so lucky here in Australia.😊👍🏼❤️🇦🇺
Especially when it comes to Australian artists, ALWAYS react to LIVE performances; this video is great, but with live performances you get a lot more.
Only Australian singers could smile and laugh with each other during a duet lol

Farnsey and Barnsey are Australian rock'n'roll royalty
And that boys and girls is how it's done
SOUL OVERLOAD from our two Aussie Legends. Doesn't get much better than when these two sing together. And Yes they are very good freinds. ❤❤❤

Clearly Barnes was the better oneon this track. Maybe because John vasn't as used to that style.
John, Jimmy and guitarist Mark (also known as Diesel) are great friends - and it shows. Jimmy and Mark are brother-in-laws through their respective wives.
Diesel , the guitarist is Jimmys brother in law and an absolute phenomenon of a singer as well, in his own right.
One of my favorites is John Farnham with Olivia Newton John " Please don't ask me" the live versions is incredible!!
Oh yes, so agree!
Always Brings A Tear 2 My Eye🧡

I love this official video. Unlike some I don't always need it live.
😂 👍
I agree...this video is great..perfect vocals from them both....I do also like the live versions for that bit of extra from John especially
Only listen to farnsey live. I really enjoyed this
John Farnham has the greatest vocal range of any male I know of. He is on his own planet in that regard. No one comes close.
You must, MUST do Aussie artists live. They really bring it with an audience. But love your reaction
Such great legendary singers. Soul overload in this one
So much back to my childhood and always love hearing it
I have been lucky enough to have seen these 2 legends live many times.
Great moment of 3 Aussie guys having a bro moment over a whiskey. Awesome review.
My favourite version - 2 blokes at close of business with whiskey and cards, and guitarist, conversing about their newfound theory. Brilliant.
Take note of the bottle on the table. Start of song is full and by the end almost empty! Pointed out by John in an interview! Love these two together.
