I have started the challenge and will be reading 26 books, which are basically all the books in my home that I have not read yet. As I am a fairly slow reader and some of the books are on the long side, I am expecting to finish around June. I will be making exceptions for two books that I will be gifted at Christmas. I am really lookinf foward to some shelf space again :)
My plan is to try and finish all the books I’ve started and always meant to complete. That was 53 books, it’s now down to 52 as I finished The Way We Live Now last night. I’m giving myself until my 70Th birthday or to put it another way December 2024. Some of the unfinished works include Lonesome Dove Varney the Vampire Middlemarch The Way of Genji Ulysses In Search of Lost time Etc
Hee hee hee! I love the extra impulse buys! I’m waiting for the BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! I think I’m ready! Picked up the Rumfit today - I like the UK cover better!
Some fun books. I think I'm going to have to track down Jericho Falls. And I bet your postal delivery person is going to be thrilled for the next few months. Good luck!
The novella "Waldo" by Heinlein holds a special place in my heart. I first read it in an anthology of old-school science fiction about 23 years ago. It was the first thing I had read following my father's death, and it was exactly the kind of escapism I needed at that time. It's my favorite Heinlein work, but I can't really judge it critically.
Bluebeard's Castle is on my wishlist. The book on horror cinema looks beautiful. Cool Gojira book. That Jericho Falls sounds thrilling. I wish you luck on the challenge.
That Anne Hebert book 'Children Of The Black Sabbath' looks like something that must have inspired the band Black Sabbath, especially with 'Children Of The Grave' being one of their songs as well, and it makes me laugh to see a book that has become a classic metal band name... Crazy!
MAQ and Commando comics !! I'm emotional. Finally you're reading something good. 🤭 I do hope you review them 🤞 You'll get at least one view (me!). The plane crash / survival plot always sucks me in.
I hope that I am not disappointing you, but Children of the Black Sabbath is not “horror”, it’s literature. Anne Hébert is a great French Canadian author who is taught in schools (though not that book; it’s not suitable for classroom discussion). I would classify Children of the Black Sabbath as very, very dark humor.
Hey just followed your channel and I know we're just past Halloween. But if you ever wanted to take a walk on the wild side. Try a graphic novel called Uzumaki by Junji Ito. Bizarre, horrifying, disturbing.
I know, I know. It's a graphic novel/manga, but might be an interesting change of pace. It's still quite the read. Very popular right now. MIght be worth a video even.
Have to take exception to you calling the original Godzilla a "trashy" movie. It's a work of art that spawned an entire genre. I'm aware you, like me, think "trashy" is good, but it just doesn't apply to that movie.
The term ‘final book haul’ gives me chills. I might not be able to sleep tonight lmao

I'm wanting to get those Godzilla novelizations. That cover art is so great
I am so nervous to start the Challenge!!
The Love Witch is a decent movie, but it is worth watching because it looks stunning.

Yeah it's definitely an edgier cover
I have the Ann Herbert on my shelf. Got it for under $10. Not read yet. I have Gojaro too. Read it in the 90s and can’t remember a thing about it.
Cool cover on the copy of Gojiro! I think next year you all have to change "Read What You Own" to "Buy a Bunch More Stuff for Reasons."
Saw the thumbnail and it totally triggered a Final countdown earworm. Thanks, Olly! 😂 Good luck with the challenge 💪
I love English humor!!
The clean-shaven look suits you. You've even got room to experiment with the sideburns. I'm thinking muttonchops.

Ha! Yeah they might notice a difference

Hey I only have a handful of unread owned books and even those few seem daunting- well, 22 or 23 so a little more than a handful

Yeah you might be right!
The bands name came from a movie of the same name
@@MichaelSmith-zx5lw ah the Mario Bava movie?
@@MichaelSmith-zx5lw I know that, but I was just saying it looks like something that inspired Black Sabbath.
Great haul
the cut at 12mins in had me laughing way too hard for some reason...
I want to track down some Commando comics. Its not so easy in the states unless i just go digital.

My plan is to get two more kindle books and see how long I can go just reading what I own before I break down and buy a book.
Quote of the day.... "Nuns are quite creepy" 😂😂😂😂
It's true!
How many pages do you read ab hour when you read on average? 😊

I’ve actually read it! Loved it and I think there is a review on the channel
@@CriminOllyBlog right on!
Aaaahhhh, but IS this the end?
I did buy some comics today… BUT THAT’S IT
@@CriminOllyBlog Hmmm.... and that final auction ......?
@CriminOllyBlog But I know that the 6th is drop-dead and you'll be solid after that! Just teasing now!
