    Dear Stella,
Thank Dr. Crawford that I am so grateful for how the videos are arranged as playlists and all the extra resource info that are added in layers. I understand how much extra work it is but it feels as if all needs as a student are already addressed. I myself have meticulously arranged folders and subfolders to keep me from wandering off on the site and loosing track of what I’ve studied and what I’ve just browsed.🙏

I highly enjoy and deeply appreciate the academic rigor applied to the actual historical and archaic language study of Runes from a professional rigorous and historically accurate study of Runes and the go-to vetted resources that inform the general public to discern from the more whimsical and self-directed and self-sourced output on runes. Your scholarship is always a go-to and useful source of real world historical and sociocultural study of antiquity

@JacksonCrawford Have you read "The Linguistic and Ethnographic Status of the Burgundians" by George Hempl? In it, he claims some older runes that have been found are Burgundian. However, the article was written in 1908, so I'm curious if it still holds up, or if it's considered wrong by modern scholarship.
Also, are you able to go digging around in his papers at Stanford? It sounds like Hempl's life got kind of chaotic after he published that article, with his wife having surgery and the house they were building having issues. I thought he said in that article that he was going to write a book, but I have been unable to find one.
He also studied runes and alphabets in general, so you may find more info to support your research into the similarities and differences between Runes and The Roman Alphabet.

Thank You. Wait even on Wikipedia, when I was going to college Wikipedia was not considered a valid source for reseach papers or essays. In some courses if you used Wikipedia and listed Wikipedia as one of the three resources you used, you recieved an F.

I don’t know how Frisians would pronounce Looijenga, as I’m not even sure they have an ‘English’ ‘g’ or a Dutch fricative.
In Dutch at least we pronounce the g fricative and the a is long. But it’s a Frisian name.

I think I learned backwards. I was fascinated at learning a new language complete with new markings called runes, then as I was captivated by great tales of Odin, etc. I became perplexed by the Nordic interaction with other nationalities and languages like the English and the Goths. If Odin was so wise it is hard to explain his reaction to learning them and Bynhild's beliefs regarding them, now I am wondering if they were more than an alphabet.
