    I can only laugh about the times today. I grew up with the Jumbo 747-200 & 400. The Tristar L 1011 & the DC 10-30. Those were the times when accidents occur nearly each year with hundreds of victims. Nowadays people get hysteric when a 787-9 plunges down a few metres ( Latam 787-9 last week from Auckland to Sydney ). The reason for the dive was a member of the cabin crew was in the cockpit during cruise serving a snack. There was a little turbulence and the purser had contact with the seat controls from the captain. The seat drove foreward pushing the captain against the colum. That's why the 787-9 plunged down. Not funny and of course a serious event but no reason to blow into that Boeing planes are rubbish horn. Each air event has it's own story. It doesn't help the guys in Seattle to blame them nonstop since the 737-8max problems. Stop this Boeing trash talk out there and leave the airline business to those who are proffessionals. Please. Thank you...

    Wow... this flight was positively European. I've been to Schipohl but never Madrid or Spain. I did, however, fly over Spain going from AMS to Casablanca, Too bad it was cloudy over the Pyrennes. I was lucky that I was able to see them on that flight. I also had a great view of the Rock of Gibraltar.
    AMS is actually a little below sea level.
    They've shown the first episode of The Amazing Race this week, and it seems that you're on your OWN Amazing Race. :) I thought that was Phil Koeghan I saw there at MAD ready to hand you your next clue. It's mind-boggling how many team members fail to read the clues correctly and mess up spectacularly as a result.

    Your take off was from 09 which isn't common, you'll have noticed with 5 runways what a complicated set up it is and was a nightmare filming there with constant runway in use changes! Have a flight to the Canaries later this week from AMS and weather not looking great so might be fun!

      I hope you have a great trip my friend. A lot more from AMS to come from this trip as I used it as my "base of operations." And believe me, with the one runway closed, I had several flights where we got extensive tours of the airport while taxiing haha.

      I'm glad you enjoy the videos my friend. I'd really love to fly around Australia and New Zealand on a. trip. It's always a question of $$$ though. It's quite expensive to get from the middle of the US to Australia and that is usually the biggest issue with doing that. I pay for everything you see on here out of my own pocket and it's quite expensive haha. I'm sure I"ll get there some day though!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 месяца назад +1

      I film everything on my channel with iPhones. Currently iPhone 14 Pros. I travel with two 1TB 14 Pros that I don't use for anything but filming. And then I film everything by hand. That is how I get such smooth and good footage. I eliminate the possibility of the camera touching the aircraft in any way, which isolates it. This prevents all of those vibrations from from being transferred into the camera. It isn't easy to hold the camera that long, but it's the only way to get incredibly smooth footage like this. That also answers the other question you left as well. The bottom line is that if the camera isn't isolated away from the plane, the footage will be full of vibrations and shaking. Thanks for watching my friend!

    Great to see Schiphol. Only wish you didn't have the cloudiness during the climb. Didn't realize Barajas was so large - long taxi on arvl. Interiors of European terminals are so modern, spacious and airy.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I too wish it wasn't cloudy, but that was a risk I took when going in February. The good news is that I used AMS as my base of operations for this 8 day trip, so I got a lot of footage where the clouds weren't so thick on other flights. And there is one little caveat on MAD. The terminal shown in the video is their main terminal used pretty much only by Iberia. It is not the terminal this flight came into, which was very old, small, and even in disrepair in a lot of places. Because of the extended taxi time, plus leaving AMS late thanks to a maintenance issue, I literally had to run to my next gate and was basically the last person to board. I almost missed my connection. So, I didn't get any footage of the old terminal we were using at MAD, so I included some from their other terminal just so I could show something. So generally I'd agree with you that most European airports I've been too are very nice and open, but that said, you didn't get to see the old dark terminal I was actually in for this flight 😂.

    Great fly! Do you trust Airbus more because of recent Boeing issues?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 месяца назад

      No, I don't. Here's the deal. Boeing clearly has some issues they need to work through and get better at. There is no question about that right now. But they still make good airplanes. In fact, I saw a graph recently that put together all aircraft incidents in the last 6 months or something. And Airbus and Embraer both had more incidents than Boeing in the same time period. You just only hear about the Boeing incidents right now because that's how the media works. And yes, Boeing fail a bunch of audits recently, but that's what audits are for. To find deficiencies and get them corrected. If auditors come in to any place of work and don't find anything wrong with their audit, then they're not doing their jobs very well. There's always room for improvement, and that's why auditors, quality control, and safety departments exist. Aviation is incredibly safe, and it has been made that way over decades of learning from mistakes. There's a reason why pilots call a lot of federal air regulations "blood regulations." Because something bad happening where people were injured or killed to get that regulation to be in place. And that's kind of morbid, but it is why aviation is so safe today. You know, the recent Max 9 incident where the door blew off. Clearly Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems needed to do better, but the plane didn't tear itself apart. The plane held together and landed safely. There's not many violent decompression incidents throughout aviation history where you can say that was the outcome. That alone helps show just how good of a plane the 737 Max is. 40, 50 years ago, it would've been a very different outcome is we hadn't learned from the previous incidents. So, no I will board any Boeing with the same confidence I have in Airbus, Embraer, Bombardier, or any other manufacturer who manufactures aircraft to today's high standards.

    What is the noise that all B787s make during landing and takeoff? I mean the best you can hear it is at 2:36:49

    • @sla31
      @sla31  7 дней назад

      What you're hearing there and throughout other portions of the flight are the hydraulic pumps keeping pressure in the various systems. As is usually the case with commercial aircraft, aside from the engines, the hydraulic systems are usually the next loudest thing.

      @@sla31 Ah I see, thanks, because I thought it was the flaps and slats, but I hear it even when they aren't engaged. On older A320s, B767 you hear the rods spinning :) But this sound on the B787 is different. It may be the same on A350, but I have not flown with the A350 yet.
