  • This Saturday, Dec. 12 marks what would have been the 100th birthday of legendary performer Frank Sinatra. While it has been several decades since the man with the unmistakable blue eyes commanded the stage at iconic venues up and down the Las Vegas Strip, it is undeniable that his presence and impact are still felt.
The momentous centennial celebration brought many of those who knew Sinatra best back to Las Vegas, his home away from home, including his youngest daughter, Tina Sinatra, and granddaughter, Amanda Erlinger. The pair spoke on a variety of Sinatra’s brightest Las Vegas performances, his favorite Las Vegas hot spots and how Sinatra would perceive the transformation of the glittering Strip into the Las Vegas of today.
“Any trip to Las Vegas with my dad was always great, always eventful,” shared Tina Sinatra, smiling over memories from her childhood visits to Las Vegas to watch her father perform. “He was born to play Las Vegas; some say he made Las Vegas.”

A lot of people criticized Frank Sinatra for a number of things and now that he is gone and cannot deny or refute what they say, they say about anything that will garner ratings for them, including untruths. He obviously did right by his children though, and by their mother as well. He once said he should have never left Nancy Sr. and she remained a close friend and confidant to him to the end of his life. All 3 of his children escaped the rumor mongers who denigrated their father and carried on his music traditions admirably by presenting his music on TV music channels and by his albums so that we will never forget his remarkable talent. Well done Nancy and Tina, and RIP to Frank Jr.

All Sinatras children were brought up with manners and to be grateful for what they had. They were/are very down to earth.

I don't call singing about women and calling them dames AND broads ..proves manners to me . i knew Frank and think he was really a misogenist
      (sp ?)
...even though he loved the BROADS...

@@TheScouser1234 Frank is often called complex, but I think just the opposite. Men were for friends and business, women were for sex, the more of them the better. I guess it falls under the category of misogyny in today's culture, although back then it was just being a ladies' man, a player, or other cornball expressions meaning "can't keep it zipped."

Well spoken lady. When she spoke of Vegas in its early years, it brings back fond memories of an enchanting town which i loved back when. My parents took me along to visit very often for several months at a time, from a tyke on. Like a 2nd home. As it grew so large, and I grew up and married, I sadly lost interest in visiting. THANKS M

Frank had a vasectomy and was not his father. Frank’s daughters along with Mia Farrow started this rumor to get under Barbara’s skin.

Tina married an ex boyfriend of mine Wes Farrell (LOL great guy but hit the bottle too much for my liking)...... R.I.P Wes we had fun.but I am surprised there was no mention of Wes. a great song writer who wrote great songs ,some with Bert Berns,
i was sitting next to him at the piano when he said "'Come a little bit closer" which he and Bert embellished upon and made it a great hit..SAD that Wes does not seem to get the publicity for his talent as he should have... Bert Berns was a darling man ..just not my type ..I seem to attract the bad guys... Bert was my room mate in New York for a while when I arrived from England in the 60's same time as the beatles...that's how . i got to meet them even though i am also from
liverpool iI was not much of a fan but they had a hit single with a song written by Wes and Bert,, "Hang on Sloopy " which Paul said on TV "everyone thought that the Beatles wrote it..but he said that AFTER the movie was made about Berts talent, which I have yet to see..but wonder if the producer Berts Brother bothered to mention that Wes Farrell was responsible for co-writing many of Bert's songs..we shall see...
' ..Wes and I never were intimate until after Berts . death ,which devastated Wes and then he hit the bottle . i feel the cause...even though I was platonic with that great guy Bert Wes knew he liked me..so respect kept us apart in NY but when we met up again in Hollyweird we dated a lot..I have memories of him Careening around in his Rolls..looking for my cono what a riot..No wonder Tina divorced him..But Frank may have had something to do with that....Who knows but when I met Tina on a movie set and mentioned Wes's name she bristled a bit as she knew of me but I guess their split was not amicable..although Wes told me she was a great lady....so i never saw that side of her LOL..sorry this got so long but a little chunk of my life..which as my friends say should be in a book haha maybe too old to start now..we shall see ... so Tinalooks great bless her...I knew Frank but wold not like to have him as a Father in
law..or any in law ...for that matter a tough guy indeed..with a charming side..

His son Frank jr said Barbara was good at caring for him in his later years. He spent a lot of time with his dad and probably Barbara then as he was his dad's conductor for his concerts.
