    Started life as a bench joiner. There was a 'kudos' to being chosen as the maker of a piece to be stained not painted. Took me 3 years before I got that particular 'promotion'. There were 4 of us tucked away in our own quiet section, South facing for the best light and next to the foreman's office. Even came with a whole 20 quid pay rise! Heaven.

    Exquisite workmanship. An engineer was talking about screws being aligned on concourse vintage cars and he was adamant that is no way to treat a screw. When it’s tight stop turning it. Looking forward to seeing the installation 🌞

    This is some cracking work Ollie, jesus. It reminds me of the time I made my mother's kitchen back in 2017, I spent weeks on end and evenings prepping, sanding back and painting (Owatrol latex extender is a game changer with brush painting!). It still looks good 7yrs on, dare I say so myself. Great work mate, takes a shed load of patience! 👍🏼😎

    £10k door!?
    Mate, you're seriously undervaluing your skills / craftsmanship..
    A plastic normal door is a couple of grand - the workmanship on this is top banana
    The only reason I can see for it being so cheap is that you've been at it for so long the wood and rates were much cheaper when you quoted back then 🤩👍😇

    • @BradshawJoinery
      @BradshawJoinery  2 месяца назад +3

      Haha 😂😆 thanks mate.
      The idea of the 10k titles was to hook people in thinking it was expensive then show how it really isn't due to the work involved....
      It is a decent price for the customer. But they paid labour plus materials and I got to film it along with the opportunity to do whatever I/they wanted with it l. I'd ask 20 for a replica I think.

    Great work. I’ve found that taking the finishing work to 80/90% before installation is sufficient. Then I’ll allow the piece to acclimate to the outside humidity etc before taking the finish to the final stage.

    Hi Ollie. I've been watching and enjoying your videos for some time now. Your standards of workmanship and craftsmanship and attention to detail, are very impressive, and are a delight to see these days where quality standards have been dropped so much by so many companies around the world pumping out mass produced products. I am a professional auto spray painter of 40 years standing, and i had question for you. What brand or type of paint are you using on this door project? I noticed that you are not using any type of primer or primer filler to start off with to fill the grain as such. Would it not make your prep work much easier and less time consuming by going with a hi build primer first then top coat colour finishing? In the auto refinish trade, we always rely on primers/ putties to fill in all the obvious imperfections from the metal up, as the colour and clear coats possess limited film build properties. Your feedback here would be welcomed. Keep up the fantastic work, Greg from Australia.

    • @BradshawJoinery
      @BradshawJoinery  2 месяца назад

      Hi mate thankyou very much, I appreciate that. Basically durability and visuals. Using waterborne primers adds bulk by use of chalks/fillers in the paint that is easy to sand and build. Trouble with that is its weaker and adds a weak point in the coating. I don't normally bother on exterior stuff just kitchens a d furniture, but the topcoats are pure resin and colour.... Hard work to build but the resulting finish is really solod. Also primers don't tend to be tinted very dark... So when they do chip always show through like a sore thumb.
