      Thanks Mark! Absolutley. 10 to 20k on a aluminium pivot door seems normal these days.... but to spend it on a joiner, is very rare.

    I think it looks a decent job, i would personally have chosen a traditional solvent based external gloss and undercoat rather than a water based product but it does look smart despite this.

      I pushed for aged (plate style) glass in the outer pane of the units but the budget wasnt there aparantly....

    Fab job. Stop saying “quite good”! It’s exceptionally good.
    I always use a dry slowing additive when painting ceilings to keep a wet edge.

    Again Ollie amazing workmanship, unfortunately most Clint’s that can afford our level of skill come from places that nobody likes to be associated with 😢 and we have been working with there type of money for far too long but it pays the bills.
    Hopefully what you’re putting down on record will inspire the ever decreasing amount of people to pick up the tools of the trade and enjoy what we have had and still love every day.
    Its a massive high to do a really nice job but we still look at it and find that little thing that could Have been better 😂 thats just us

    Absolute precision, superb attention to detail and incredible craftsmanship throughout the whole design and making of this bespoke joinery door, frame and canopy project. All the key stages of construction ( be it joinery, setting out, painting and now final fitting) have been clearly demonstrated and the reasons for them provided. Absolutely wonderful content including the stunning oak framed walkway - amazing to watch and learn from. The level of expertise in numerous skills here and the incredible standard of the completed work (in all previous projects on the channel too) is inspirational for any aspiring craftsman. Many, many thanks for sharing and continuing to provide such valuable content!!!

    Absolutely amazing job your craftmanship is undeniable! but i would like to know how many man hours in total you have spent on this job because 10 K seems way to cheap i would have thought you should be charging your workshop hourly rate at about £60.00 and hour for your level of skill that only gives you 4 weeks with out any material or hardware costs and i bet there wasn't much change out of £4000 for those. Once again amazing skills and quality.

      Thanks Bud, i didnt price this one to be fair so, just agreed a price per hr and it took aslong as it took. Quite fair as it would be more expensive if priced, but allowed the inclusion of detail etc as it was paid time...

      At an artisan level of craftsmanship its hard to expect others to work to that level and not everyone can or wants that level, but its a shame when expectations arent met but big£ has been spent and i sympathises but you arent alone, infact everyone will have this problem pretty mcuh

    I’ve watched this whole series and the green oak archways too….congratulations and also a word of thanks for sharing so much detail; I learnt a huge amount about how to get the matt finish and painting process.
    You clearly love what you do and for that, I am deeply envious! Any sense of overall ballpark cost for the door that you can share?

      Cheers Dean, i appreciat ethe feedback! Erm, probably 10k for the door and frame installed is about right, wages plus materials. It wasnt ever a job to make a profit on, but i just charged for the time worked,,, so no stress pricing it really.

    Forgot to ask - when you said the oak frame had been oiled, do you know what was used - Have been considering using Osmo UV protection to stop/reduce it greying from the tannins oxidising with the UV from the Sun, and would value your opinion on what works best and if it lasts a decent amount of time, or if it turns into a labour of love to keep redoing it?

    Mouldings on your mouldings. Great tip using ipa spray. I really like this choice of finish. Nice bit of scribing too. What's the window sealant you used please?
