I remember those size sections its bloody hard work it changes the dinamics a lot.
I know back in the day they didnt have a lot of the tools like we have to hand but they got away using softwoods a lot more as it was quality pine like dougie fir and
redwoods and the sections on everything could be smaller as they didnt have massive insulating glazing to incorporate.
Fairplay to you mate another quality video showing true traditional joinery executed to an awesome level
    Hats off 👍

I did have one episode of brain freeze watching this so i did a quick rewind to thaw it out, it was the flipping between mortising & the drawings. George might be a noisy bugger in the next workshop but he does help you out with some niffty improvised metal pieces when you need them.

Great content, and only one error. Great that you picked up on the mistake before it happened, although to be fair, not removing enough material is easier to rectify than removing too much 😁
Its a complex project for sure 😮👍

As always great videos Oliver showing the extra details is a good thing, maybe boring to some but it shows the amount of background work involved if you like, to produce a stunning piece of joinery. Can the white nylon wheeled pressure bar be bought separately or was it supplied with a piece of your machinery. Great work thank you for sharing.

Nice to see you’re human mate, they’ll be a lot watching you twice as old and half as good that feel slight better about our general incompetence when we see you do a Clanger
Half the trade is getting yourself out the poop.
Forgetting setback in glazing rebate GUILTY 👋😂
Forgetting to reference off the outside face on a top sash meeting rail mortice is another fairly regular one that gets the swearing happening
It’s jumping from job to job that does it, ‘Xmas coming!!!’ And ‘auto pilot’

  • @theofarmmanager267

This may be seen by some as a criticism but it genuinely isn’t.
I remember well - because it really struck a chord with- a lesson in which the woodworking design tutor said that “just because you can, doesn’t mean that you should”. He was talking about the Victorian habit of embellishing everything just because they now had ,a homely which could and the reaction of the English Arts and Crafts movement to it. However, the lesson has stayed with me. In fact, as I get older, I seem to apply the maxim of less can be better. So, I look for the simplest way of achieving something rather than reaching for a piece of machinery each time.
For me, that means I use the domino machines a lot more than my morticer; it’s easier, less strain on old shoulders and, frankly, I have never had a domino joint fail on me - at least 15 years of using a domino. For sure, for large components, I gang up domino’s and/or make my own mega domino’s which fit into a mortice made of overlapping domino strokes.
So, I would urge those who perhaps don’t have a tenoned or a morticer or a domino, not to give up. Anyone can make a dowel jig out of scrap within minutes amd, providing you have lots of glue area (which might mean lots of dowels), you can get a joint just a strong as you need. I would guess that the timber will rot before your joint gives in.
So, admire complex joints but don’t think they are mandatory.
    Just my view
