Good to see you back. Great looking cook set. Must have been a pretty big breakfast sandwich to push your chair over backwards? Thanks for the awesome video and the hunger pains. Cheers 👌
Looks like a 14cm Zebra Billy with modded clips. I have one and wanted to steam in it without drilling holes in the bowl as some did. ~ I found that a 5" folding/collapsible as butterfly wings basket fits inside and opens when inside just enough for steamer use. Not much space below the basket for much water, but just enough before all boiled off, and I grabbed a SS plain Jane cookie cutter (tall as can find round) to sit below the basket giving just a smidge height for more water. ~ Water being a commodity it steams with very little water. It steams up full load load veggies just fine. I've not tried fish yet, but some steam their fishys vs oil 'n such. (can river water be used for steaming without being treated? ~ there's a plus) ~~ Both steamer basket with cookie cutter nested in basket nests inside the Billy, wrapped in paper towel for no rattle. (dew rag prolly betta) Stainless steel steamer baskets vary in size and not costly. Aim for one with tallest legs that can find. My 5" will expand to 9 or 10" with center post for lifting for other pots/pan use. ~ Cookie cutter? ha, there's one in case 1day you try biscuits ay? Before use I took a hair blow dryer to the huge Zebra sticker and it peeled right off. Someday it'll be a pain I thought. If Zebra tac welded a pivoting ring on the side for a lift aid it would be perfect.
It is the 14 cm but the clips are factory, and they're a game changer! Great for pouring water when it's too hot to touch once they're clipped onto the handle, and they're the only way that the inverted oven will work. I don't bother with steaming anything while I'm camping, so I haven't used it for that or researched any mods to make that more practical. And biscuits are on the list! Lol
Nice use of the billy pot & insert. I bought some ball feet for my chair. I hope it stops Chair feet sinking in soft ground. The stove is very efficient in its burn. Thank you for sharing.
For some reason I never got a notification of this comment. I wasn't ignoring you lol I can't really think of any other use for that insert piece. I've recently started baking in the pot and that's working out fantastic! Thanks for watching! 🤙🏻🧡
@@canoeanddogexplorers The Billy looks like a modified clips Zebra from Firebox. The 6" Alu. gripper handle at Firebox would work just dandy to get a grip on the bowl insert used stand alone...of course there are others but I don't know if 6" or not. I think the bowl insert is a very nice SS bowl as is. Tough and ez clean.
Dandy stove indeed and especially at only $25! I got a 40 lb bag of pellets for $7.50 and that small amount burns for 30-40 min. The Billy Pot is a wicked piece of kit. I've had that one for almost 2 years and that's the first time it wasn't used over a gas stove.
Yeah it's a pretty versatile piece of kit. Nice to find something that does more than 1 thing. I've recently started baking with it too. Hopefully I'll get back to getting videos up soon. 🤙🏻🧡
I never did like using my Ohuhuh stove until I saw this video. I carry a Mason jar of pellets soaked in bbq lighter fluid and use it all the time now. Enjoy your videos. 👍
Great looking stove and Billy can you got there Matt. I first thought you were pouring dog food into a bowl and lighting it up. LOL. Nice looking paracord bracelet you got on your wrist. ATB Mike
Thats a great breakfast man! Would much rather a natural fire rather than bringing in pellets to burn, great for a city slicker I suppose. Great chair tip over..........awesome. And Baileys to boot........awesome!
It was a great breakfast indeed. I like the pellets for a quick day trip, especially in a gasifier stove, as they burn even(no hot spots) and I get a solid 45 min burn time without having to fuss with it at all. Baileys is the only way to make instant coffee palatable lol 🤙🏻🧡
I'm sure it would work in a pinch, but I haven't tried it. I know stainless can be tricky to get the right temperature to avoid sticking. Like any new piece of kit, you'll want to try it out in a controlled setting first. Aside from that, yes, the Billy pots are great. Very versatile. The last few times I've used it was for baking muffins. 🤙🏻🧡
Lol, yes I guess I did. I meant that I haven't used it as a primary tool for frying things in as I have actual pans for that. I have so many stoves and other cookware that I'm obviously starting to forget what I've used for what! Lol
Same reason I carried an almost 3 lt stainless steel pot instead of 500 ml titanium pot and a camera to film it all because I had it and wanted to try it out. I like to practice with as many options as are available. 🤙🏼
Cascade Mountain Tech from Costco. It's heavier and packs a little larger than a Helinox or other premium brand, but it's also 1/5 the price, so it works for me lol
Gotta love when the chair tips over while the camera is rolling! 😂
Lol right?! Good thing I don't mind looking like a fool. Saves a lot of editing time lol
And he didn't edit it out!
Good to see you back.
Great looking cook set.

Thanks very much Paul! Too many big breakfasts is what's knocking over my chair! Lol
Cheers buddy! 🤙🏻

Received your notification FRIEND and very happy to spend a few minutes with you! Like your Stove! Very nice MEAL!
Very much appreciated. That was the first day with my new camera as well so hopefully I'll get plenty more footage soon enough! 🤙🏻
Ten points for the dump over!🤣
Lol I can't edit out the good stuff!
I have the exact same stove, works great! I need to get one of those billy pots. Deadly looking breakfast sandwich bud :)

Looks nice! I like that idea of cooking something over the boiling water, might try that on my Trangia

That's awesome to hear! It's nice to be a positive influence once in a while!
Thanks for watching, Grant! 🤙🏻🧡

Lol I always said everything tastes better in the woods but that still don't bring dog food into it lol
Awesome ❤ Billy Pot 😊
The billy pot certainly is an awesome piece of kit! 🤙🏻

What brand/type of wood pellets did you use?🎉
Canawick hardwood pellets. 40 lb bag for $7.99 at a local store. I just went with the cheapest option but they certainly perform!
looks like that inner Billy Pot pan works well as a fry-pan
I'm looking at getting a Billy Pot...
I'm sure it would work in a pinch, but I haven't tried it. I know stainless can be tricky to get the right temperature to avoid sticking. Like any new piece of kit, you'll want to try it out in a controlled setting first.

Didn't you fry the bacon in it?
Lol, yes I guess I did. I meant that I haven't used it as a primary tool for frying things in as I have actual pans for that. I have so many stoves and other cookware that I'm obviously starting to forget what I've used for what! Lol
Could you tell the name of your tong/silverware setup? Thanks
That's the Toaks Titongs set. One of my favorite pieces of kit! 🤙🏻
Welche Größe von dem Pot hast du da? Sehr gute Idee mit den Pellets.
Grüße aus Deutschland😅
That's the Firebox Stove 3 quart Billy Pot. Very versatile piece of kit.
Cheers! 🤙🏻🧡
Why would you carry pellets with when you're surrounded by fuel?
Same reason I carried an almost 3 lt stainless steel pot instead of 500 ml titanium pot and a camera to film it all because I had it and wanted to try it out.
I like to practice with as many options as are available. 🤙🏼
Weird i never got a notification threw youtube.
They are great pots, i got the ss zebra pot just like that one.
Same ones yup. Awesome pots and will last a lifetime.
Thats better than any tims breakfast sandwich.
That's a fact, sir! So good it took me off my seat lol
What chair is that?
Cascade Mountain Tech from Costco.
It's heavier and packs a little larger than a Helinox or other premium brand, but it's also 1/5 the price, so it works for me lol
What size billy pot is that one?
I'm 99% sure it's the 2 qt pot. Fits that stove perfectly. Gotta love a good nesting set!
Your sound is not stereo.
Good to know, thanks!
Gotta love when the chair tips over while the camera is rolling! 😂
Lol right?! If that's the worst thing I deal with then that's best kind lol
