For me The most underrated song of 20th century
I just listened to it 4 times ...I don't feel it's underrated.
Probably because the main singer is black and a woman.
@ Just like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston? Your woke logic needs some honing.
@ 🤣🤣nonce
@thomas brunn Sorry, I'm afraid I've lost the thread so I'm not sure as to the reference, could you explain? Thank's.
According to its writer, "the song is about transcendence over those who see the world as only earthly and finite. The horses represent the five senses discussed in the Bhagavad Gita and the ability to lift one’s perception above these physical limitations and to see beyond this limited Earthly perspective."
@Peeping Tom Sooner or later we all have to come to terms with the fact that we are meat bags with fluids and rise above that. Some only get it as they draw their last breath, some find the strength to figure it out sooner. I hope I'll find the strength.
@@simonfrederiksen104 I don't believe in god, as only an evil god would create this world....but I have seen that the afterlife exists....so it is puzzling. When I die I guess I will know more.
@@fortheloveofnoise If there is a "God" it is obviously beyond our comprehension. For all we know black holes in space may be it's eyes. But I believe it's very human to put the question forth, otherwise we would still be climbing trees with our brothers and sisters. Besides, good and evil are human concepts, part of our tendency to put a label on everything, put it into an order we seem to be able to control on some level, when more often than not control is beyond us, control of ourselves, control of those around us, or the world we live in.
Now makes even more sense. Thank you 💗😌
@@fortheloveofnoise Consider the fall of mankind as an explanation, just as described in the Bible.
Q LAZZARUS thank you for this masterpiece it has helped me throughout the years! I feckin love LOVE LOVE, AM ADDICTED ! RIP DIANA! YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED!
Very underrated song , love the Drums and the whole song is just a masterpiece
I just discovered this song a few days ago. I can’t get enough of it.
Yeah its a great song. First found it on one of the radio stations in a video game called "grand theft auto IV" Also heard it in the movie "silence of the lambs" great song.
It was featured in the movie the silence of the lambs. One of the most epic scene in that movie. It opened the floodgate of expression and what was to be the acceptance of all. As well as the reality that there existed a number of feelings that could not be easily explained.
yes i feel the same its like being in a meditive state L
Well then watch Silence Of the Lambs for one of the most famous scenes in it

Heard once in silence of the lambs. Couldn't get it out of my mind. Weeks looking for it. Found it. I now soar among the clouds listening to it regularly. 👄💋
makes me want to make a suit made of women's hides.
I was in the ARMY when I found it on the"Married to the Mob" soundtrack.
Listening to this epic masterpiece, watching a thunderstorm. Perfection.
RIP Diane, thanks for the awesome tune. Rest easy

Out of Africa the Human Race
One of the greatest lyrics and composition ever written. 🖤
Driving on the highway at night with this track damned , what a trip ... more ... we need more of this ... 💜
everybody brings up the scene from the movie (as good as the movie was imo), but the songs feels so genuine and ethereal
It's practically addictive. Especially since we have all this painful and depressing year. Images are really looking disturbing
Yep
@@marekwojtowicz3005 it's totally addictive I've just listened to it like 8 times in a row lol
This song still seems as fresh as the first time I heard it ( nearly 30 years ago ).

This song will be one of the greatest ever. So many can identify with Q. Where she is, no-one knows. But her music lives forever.
Last I heard was she was bus driver in New York,
Incredible waste of a very talented artist.
Such a powerful voice.
She recently died. RIP Diane

☆LONG LIVE THE 80'S☆
this song became popular in the early 90s
Out of Africa the Human Race
Absolutely beautiful!! There is no words actually
Hands down this song made the scene. And Buffalo bill.
Nope, not tired of that one yet.
After 3 decades I'm beginning to suspect I never will be.
Finally an extended version. This song is way to epic not to the chorus before the lyrics.
I just love this song :)
R.I.P Diane Luckey, thank you. All things pass into the night
Listen once you will listen again haunting melody
Amazing song...
Goodbye Horses,
Q Lazzarus
You told me, I see you rise
But, it always falls
I see you come, I see you go
You say, "All things pass into the night"
And I say, "Oh no sir I must say you're wrong
I must disagree, oh no sir, I must say you're wrong"
Won't you listen to me
You told me, I've seen it all before
Been there, I've seen my hopes and dreams
A lying on the ground
I've seen the sky just begin to fall
And you say, "All things pass into the night"
And I say, "Oh no sir, I must say you're wrong
I must disagree, oh no sir, I must say you're wrong"
Won't you listen to me
Good-bye horses I'm flying over you
Good-bye horses I'm flying over you

Listening in 2021 while watching the sunset. The sky was literally on fire tonight.
Loved the song the moment i first heard it on the film ! Awesome ! Great Track even till today.
Why is there a commercial in the middle of a good song that crazy…⁉️
I remember being ticked off when I first heard it on silence of the lambs.....classic song classic flic
If only I knew what the "Q" stood for. She's amazingly talented and I am in love with her. I too thought it to be a Robert Smith of The Cure or Neil Tennant or even David Gahan. Boy she sure had me fooled. Probably the most underrated singer & song of the 20th century. 'Won't you listen to me.'
"Q" as in "Quiana". Her given name was Diana Quiana. You're welcome.
according to a post @ the top of the page, it's.Quiana.
Beautiful
this song is rad
R.I.P Q! 62 years old was waytoo young to lose you!
"good bye horses" is the shit" and always was. It always will rise and never fall. I have seen many come and go.... so where did this one go?
Beautiful song!
Sad story...Quiana escaped an abusive relationship before becoming a musician, had some modest success but not the level she truly deserved. She then left for the UK to reinvent herself after American record labels wouldn't sign her because they didn't think she was marketable...not representative of what people expect a new wave or dark wave or rock musician should look like. Met a guy who basically repeated the abusive relationship the originally escaped, whereabouts currently unknown and presumed dead by former band members and business associates. A damn shame :(
Very unfortunate. I always wondered what her story was. RIP, if so.
Really sad
M Perkins
Awesome thanks for that
Someone found her recently and she's a bus driver on Staten Island.
um, how is that sad that she was able to escape an abusive relationship? would you have been happy if she didn't get out of that relationship? Ha ha
Defo 1 of the greatest songs ever made
love this.....
Sad..very sad to Hear of her passing...rip beutiful soul beutiful messanger😢🎉😂❤😮😅😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤

1 solo tema !! Capacidad de marcar la vida de los que escuchamos su unica musica ! Que nos parese unica a pesar de los años 2023 !!!
I can find only a very few songs of this artist, but this is very good.
I really like this comment section.
Its all very positive
i tried to find more of their music but I don't think there is, a shame, i love this track i can listen to over and over, it has a 80s feel, deep especially the reference to the Gita and the horses symbolising our 5 senses and our need transcend this material worlder, has a resonance with me. almost like a death of this fake illusionary reality and transcend to who we really are. i often wonder if the keepers controllers of this world wish to keep us locked in 5 sense reality samsara. peace love in these times Lindsey x
Great singer, gteat song~
Wow! No words .....Fuckin IMMACULATE!
For now. Over and over and over...
I've been listening to it at work for about three hours straight. Maybe I'll play something else when this time finishes. But probably not.
That's a good boy! Keep your co-workers guessing.
song of the soundtrack of my life
it's my personal theme. meant a lot to me. at first it's about a resignation unto insanity. then it became about not giving up on dreams, and daring to keep it alive.
Are your dreams possible, or did you already make them real? Mine are not U-U but I wish you more lucky.
Alejandro Sintes Ruiz de la Escalera
U-U? What does that mean?
Man you have a LOT of names LOL!!! Pretty cool!
That's exactly how I felt when I was going through a personal hell. Such a beautifully honest song. Stay strong my friend... :-)

There is the rare 14 minute cut that was a limited pressing of 1000 records. The record is white colored with red spots.
VIDEOSUPERHIGHWAY
Awesome - I want that! Is that on RUclips?!? What’s the name of the mix?
VIDEOSUPERHIGHWAY
I would love to see this 14 min cut
Did you find it ?
Love B.B
Do you still have the record White with Blood spatter ?
I want to see it
she is awesome, I even shared this cut of "Q" with a boss at work and he too thought she was an effeminate white male. Now that I have listened to it for 100X times I can hear this "sister" coming thru in the background. God did bless this "Q" she was on the rise and could have been the next Nina Simone in my opinion and "please do not disagree" for she was on the rise.
do you think the track being used as a track for the killer in silence of the lambs, his imitating a woman as bets he could and as how he saw women, might have given him this gender bending perspective? ... great voice, but I would think Q is more part of a band, where as Nina is the music, with the band almost being incidental... so "I must disagree sir" :)
Daniel Murray
I totally agree. I’ve been listening to this song since I was 11yo in the 80’s and only in the last 4 years or so learned it was a black woman. Until then, I too, thought it was another all white New Wave band, possibly from London, like the Pet Shop Boys or Depeche Mode or something. I have a killer 80’s New Wave playlist I’ve been cultivating over the last couple of decades and this song is in the top 25 for sure. One band I notice people forget when they make these playlists are The Cure. They were, in my opinion, the absolute best of those bands.
ValePlace
I don’t think so tho. It’s a good theory but I had already been a fan of this song with that assumption in mind, gotten sick of it and stopped playing it and THEN “The Silence Of The Lambs” came out and resparked my love for this song. I got sick of it again eventually and only occasionally heard it on my 80’s playlist when Clerks 2 came out and reignited it again LOL
"on the rise", perhaps, but that doesn't = "next Nina Simone", since Q was a very different genre from Nina.
He'd probably seen "silence of the lambs" and the song reminded him (subconsciously) of the "tooth fairy".
@Neg Ative
The Cure are being forgotten as an 80s Post punk/new wave/goth playlist staple? For shame! When I think of that era, The Cure along with Joy Division damn near steered the entire course of music that entire decade. Bauhaus, Siouxee and the Banshees (which Robert Smith also played guitar in for a bit), New Order (Joy Division post-Ian Curtis's suicide), Echo and the Bunnymen, Depeche Mode, The Church... all heavily heavily influenced by The Cure and Joy Division. It is funny though, the earlier years of the Cure set the tone but it wasn't until 10 years later coming into the 90's after the back to back gems Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (88) Disintegration (89... widely considered their "masterpiece" with Love Song, Lullaby and Fascination Street and Pictures Of You all on it) they really popped. I guess I see your point, haha.
That's Q Lazzarus singing in the movie Philadelphia.
Right, she's singing 'Heaven' by Talking Heads!
"Dope" Nough said!!!!
So powerful. So beautiful.🪶

RIP Diane Luckey (December 12, 1962 ~ July 19, 2022, 59 Years Old)
I was so glad to discover this 12” version, being associated with the movie silence of the lambs, although a highly successful movie don’t get me wrong it’s the unessesary sexual comments that over shadows any chance of decent conversation it’s a shame really because the track it’s self is so good and provides an interesting platform for music lovers, everyone is entitled to there opinion of course but come on enough is enough?.Theres not much out there by Q lazzurus thanks DIYSynth great upload.
Nicola Mcdermott
Well, have you seen how it is used in the movie “Clerks 2”? It’s really good - Maybe that will be more to your liking? You can watch it here on RUclips

!!!QUE JOYA!!! ES UN HIMNO ESTE ROLÓN 🎸🎷🎸
Asked three very clever “Oxford educated” people to give me an explanation of the meaning of this song. Not one could. It’s mysterious, spiritual, sinister and beautiful. But what does it all mean? That’s it’s timeless appeal. My interpretation is the ephemeral nature of our existence and this planet. Hope v. Despair.
unasummed melodic genius
She sounds like a black female with a deep voice...almost tracy chapman like.
You don't associate it a black person because of the music, the instrumentation is very new wave, dark wave etc.
The very first time I heard it (Lambs 1991 in the theatre), it was the instrumentation that first got me, because it was so different for a mainsream movie
was written by WILLIAM GARVEY, who dabble in music amongst other things, he did as jobs. this woman was part of the band...and what a choice he made, heard many voices do the song, but they dont do the music justice

Was talking with my pal today about this tune...we where trying to work out how we found it. Both said Tracy Chapman neither of us like her music but love this. Go figure
