I honestly don’t know to be honest.
Probably deluxe, voyager is too pricey, but engineering is voyager

Funny thing about the size: when I was in Honolulu, I saw an actual vintage vanette and what surprised me the most was just how *small* they really are. It was absolutely dwarfed even by modern-day sedans.
I've been dying for a G1 Ironhide that isn't a disaster like the 2008 universe figure, or the unreachable and problem heavy Earthrise version, can't wait for the release of it.
This one is a godsend for many!

If the studio series 86 was to make an Ironhide figure, I thought they'd just reissue the Earthrise figure. But no, they create an entirely new mold.

The thing with Ironhide is he was either going to be a large but simple deluxe like the Siege/Earthrise, or a comolex but small voyager. I know which I prefer

I'm the same. If this is what it takes, by all means, take my money. This is great. I'm mostly satisfied with my upgraded ER Ironhide and I'm not a huge G1 fan, but this? This is so dope, I want it just for the sick and fun transformation as well as the clean looks in both modes. This is just a well engineered and fun toy. I've always wanted this
I just wonder why they couldn't pull the same miracles with Legacy Blitzwing. If they can discard useless accessories with this Ironhide, why couldn't they do the same with Blitzwing? Had they discarded those dumb fists, at least the tank kibble could've swiveled 180° to sit more reasonably under the jet. Maybe because the mainline is aimed more towards kids than SS? Screw that :(

@@Fenris30 Arcee is a roughly deluxe sized Deluxe. While I can respect your disappointment your argument does not really apply to this convo unless she were a voyager, which she isn't. Perhaps you would've preferred her as big as Netflix Bumblebee? In that case they could've maybe put more engineering budget in her
No actually he can be large _and_ complex. It's absurd to suggest that it can't be both.
Reverse mushroom pegged wheels like the ones on Ironhide here are actually the best in terms of longevity and aesthetic. Pins can get bent, rust or get tarnished overtime, and they make the wheels irremovable. Reverse mushroom pegs allow for the entire hubcap to be detailed and painted. The only thing that pinned wheels are better for is rolling, but I don't play with my transformers like that. I've got plenty of hot wheels to do that. Great review as always though. Thank you for providing the community with everything we need to know to make informed purchases in the future!

I love the earthrise with the shield, partsforming doesn't bug me. But this guy looks great and just slighty smaller which might not bug too many people I just don't care for the super G1 look but for G1 collectors this is amazing. I loved seige and hope it comes back one more time lol.
I love my earthrise iron and Ratchet on my Ratchet I have the 3d printed feet haven't got them yet 4 iron but they look awesome on Ratchet and when I ordered more toyhax it's going to look better
If you want to go G1 go reissue G1 and tell me it is screen accurate -_-. I think both figures are good. But my true Ironhide is the MP. That van is perfect. No "toy" can ever get that close to the real vehicle. as for robot mode this SS86 figure is good.
For me it be the improvements of his feet in alt mode.
Wfc seige ironhide: his feet were sticking out in his altmode but that's forgivable because his altmode was a cybertronian armored truck of sorts.
Wfc Earthrise ironhide: why couldn't they figure out away to hide his feet, his altmode is a earth van of sorts it shouldn't stick out like that.
Studio series 86 ironhide: there we go now that's an improvement on his earth vehicle altmode.

Hasbro could’ve easily fixed the feet on ER Ironhide, it was a little lazy on their part to not do anything about them. SS 86 has definitely rectified it!
There’s some parts of the transformation that definitely make me think they started with the siege/earthrise figure as a base,but then they added so much more engineering that they had to give it the voyager price in order to make a profit.
Absolutely! You can see the similarities in the way the torso flips & the panels on the side of the legs
I agree, and I hope that they do the same with the bumblebee and seeker moulds. They also badly need updates.
All classes in [Transformers] toylines aren’t about different class sizes anymore. Classes are based on their engendering, parts/accessories count, paint, weight, scale accuracy, complexity and conversion steps.
You might want to say that louder for the ones in the back who can't hear over their aggrievements.
86 Arcee should have been a Voyager like Hot Rod and she should’ve been given the same treatment in terms of engineering and accessories
@@blazingmewtwo Yeah. They could’ve made SS-86 Arcee a whole new mold with voyager level engineering and accessories, but instead, she’s just a partial of deluxe Thrilling 30 Arcee.

Lucky that this isn’t an Earthrise retool, it looks like a new mould! Happy to see that the feet don’t peer out and the roof of the van isn’t a separate piece anymore. A clear pick up for me!
Yes definitely a brand new mould :)
Some parts work the same though like the bumper and the legs have a somewhat shared some engineering
I think this was made ground up and just uses some shared engineering

I like Ironhide being more chunky and staunch looking. I recall him being a tough, stoic, cowboy style character who was an experienced and trusted soldier. So this look makes sense to me.
Every time I look at the Earthrise aftermarket prices MAH CIRCUITS SIZZLE
Im so glad they came out with this guy and he's a total improvement. Can't wait to get him in the far far future ;)

@@steel749 Ramjet is set to be re-released in legacy 2023. And thankfully *not* an exclusive. So all that's left is a re-release of Dirge.

We need to stop thinking of the price points as size determiners and think of them as based on engineering. This figure has engineering that would easily push the production cost above the average Deluxe, hence it's a Voyager, but it's still in good scale. I'm happy with it.
This is very impressive. Hasbro basically had to make a figure that could basically mass-shift, for Ironhide to transform from that van into the robot mode he had in the G1 cartoon. Yeah, the hinges aren't great, but hard to avoid. It is a shame about the mismatch color though.

The transformation engineering is undeniably impressive, and it looks like a lot of fun! But alas, they hike their prices like crazy while still using way too much clear plastic that pegs into other clear plastic pieces. For me, I don't know if this justifies the current price of 47 euro at all. It blows the deluxe out of the water, but for more than double the price of a 2020 deluxe.
Although I suppose it's still better than paying after-market prices for Siege and Earthrise, but that doesn't excuse it. Inflation is a factor for sure, but how many price hikes has Hasbro gone through in the past 2 years?
Either way, I'm definitely happy this figure exists for those who want it. And if it wasn't for that final step for the van mode, I'd probably wanna get this for the transformation alone. It definitely seems to make a lot of satisfying sounds XD

I love when they fill in the hollowness in joints like the shoulders here.
Edit: they should have just molded the clear bits in red and painted the windows in black/blue. That’s too many potential points for fragility/breakage.

They probably didn't because something something clear is least used plastic
@@PrimeVsPrime quite a few people didn’t like the molded windows and lots hated that they weren’t at least painted but they should have painted on this one
The question for me becomes whether or not he'll get the same treatment as Cliffjumper in the Buzzworthy line. That would make this guy absolutely worth Voyager price for me. As it stands I'm torn because of the combination of hollowness in the hands and thighs with the bad color match from all the clear plastic, which in turn adds a fear of breaking over time as well

Since Hasbro is making deluxe sized characters at a voyager price point for the transformation, I wouldn't mind a voyager lockdown figure. The first SS figure had a ton of kibble, but bumping it to a voyager price point could allow the designers to really refine the figure. Also would be the perfect excuse to give us the accessories we missed out on the original release, like the gun face.

I can agree to that idea. I never liked SS Lockdown because of the kibble and ugly proportions.
i hope we get a legacy style lockdown. We definitely need a g1 looking lockdown

If you want more accessories, then I recommend getting the Matrix Workshop Siege Ironhide upgrade kit. It still works for any G1 inspired Ironhide.

Just got this figure and wached your video because I have basically given up on the Hasbro instructions, I always go to your channel everytime I open up a figure 😂
If he came with more accessories and the yellow stripe, I would get him. But with the mismatched paint, I’m sticking with my ER and his feet upgrades.

Same here. I got new wheels for Earthrise Ironhide, which helps a lot and threw on some Toyhax stickers and am content. I’d rather spend money on 3P deluxe figures than double dip on mainline figures (even if they have improved transformations).
I love G1 Ironhide and this guy looks great. Each release I've thought "this is the best Ironhide yet!". Siege>Earthrise>SS86. They've upped their game again! Think it's time to cash in on my Earthrise set and get this guy. Means letting go of Prowl unfortunately...
I'm honestly thankful he's shorter so he'll scale well with my earthrise ratchet as I couldn't get an earthrise Ironhide and although siege Ironhide is fun, it doesn't really match the earth mode aesthetics

I’m glad you brought up the “quality over quantity” discussion. Honestly I’d prefer it if Hasbro would do this more often, not only because we get better engineered figures but we also get good plastic quality again. I’d rather it be smaller and denser rather than bigger and more fragile. Also, according to product images, he’s supposed to have two blasters, you’re just missing for some reason.
I just realized that, them reworking this character for the Studio Series 86 release means it's not impossible that we COULD get another shot at characters like Prowl and even Bumblebee who were relegated to "Store Exclusive Purgatory" in the Earthrise line.
There’s supposedly a prowl coming out in next years legacy. it doesn’t say it’s a repack so it could be another version, like animated or something else

@@nrexx970 I could see them trying to do it out of the legacy arcee. Hopefully it would get its own mold. I’d like to see them redo the g1 prowl with more solid legs that could be retooled too a prime bumble bee or something. I’d love an animated figure tho

The translucent plastic on critical hinges and pegs is certainly giving me pause, but if Hasbro truly has figured out a solution to its brittleness then it's not too much to worry about.
86 Ironhide looks amazing that's a fantastic robot mode and alt mode can't wait for it to hit shelves 🤯🤩👍
Honestly, the mismatched paint... weirdly doesn't bother me right now. I really like how this Ironhide looks with one exception - the alt mode just looks too plain, which I guess is because it's missing the yellow stripe. I understand the hinges and panels may have made them look bad, but it's just oddly boring without it. So I understand it, but I can't say I like it.
I want to say I'll try and get it, but I haven't been able to get many bots lately despite so many releasing that I've wanted for a long time. And the few I have gotten... ugh, they're just so problematic. Still, I'd _like_ to try and get it.
Same i think at this point people are nitpicking the heck out of this. And if mismatched paint is a deal breaker. Oh well more for others.
Nice figure of Ironhide, Even though he was only on screen for a few scenes in the movie before getting killed by Megatron since the original G1 Ironhide toy was discontinued.

Got him yesterday and was at first disappointed by the size considering the price of him(£38) but as soon as I stood him with the rest of my bots I realised he scales perfectly and is the best looking Ironhide we’ve got so far,mine also came with two guns

On the one hand his engineering is incredible and he looks great.
On the other hand he's held together by transparent plastic which clips into transparent plastic which is supported by transparent plastic.
Ontop of all that, the thing has eighteen shades of red on it, and none of them match.
Man, we can't have SHIT around here.
Can't believe I'm advocating a store-exclusive, but here's hoping for a Buzzworthy repack like they did with Cliffjumper to give us a safer option with more consistent coloration

Honestly I'm gonna miss though weird engineering on the Deluxe, mostly because I really like the added fan mode of the diaclone mode where he doesn't have a head, is more scrunched over, and he has the sled that you can add all of the additional accessories on. This does look really good though.
I just received mine from Amazon earlier today and had to double-check to make sure I wasn't missing any pieces due to the parts-firming of the previous version. Thanks for the video!
Could've really used swappable battle damage parts and a blast effect, but this is near enough to a definitive Ironhide. I've handled near enough every Deluxe mold from WFC (outside of some Weaponizers, Modulators, Runamuck and Sunstreaker) and this transformation is a league more advanced than them.
I think he's awesome and making him taller is as easy as wedging something into the layers of the heels. Perfection.
Hey PrimeVSPrime, I realized he comes with one blaster because if you watch the shuttle attack, Ironhide is holding one blaster in his hands. I think that's why he comes with one accessory. And I think that's pretty accurate to the movie!

He looks so cool! He looks even better and is a major improvement from the Earthrise version of Ironhide IMO but one thing I don't like that much is the head and the different colours on the plastic. Overall this figure is Amazing 👌

Very nice figure! I was gonna pass on it but damn never mind. I can see why many people on eBay are selling their Earthrise version.
this is a must have! it has a good robot mode and alt mode extremely accurate much better then the earthrise version and it dosent need to have the entire top pop off and go on it for transformation the transformation is also pretty nice and satisfying and he scales pretty well tho in my opnion he should be a tad bit taller and prob be the same scale as the earthrise version in my opnion but great figure and I am getting him as soon as I can.
Expecting an 86 ratchet, prowl and maybe a brawn. Kinda doubt it on prowl seeing as he has 3 bros who share his mold. Thankful because getting that duel pack is too much.
For sure! But one thing I'm not sure about... didn't we get listings for a Legacy Year 2 Prowl? I mean, it could be an Energon or Animated Prowl; but first thought was a release of the Amazon Exclusive Prowl with the correct headsculpt (and not a Bluestreak repaint) and maybe better paint apps. I guess time will tell though...
@@devimusmagnusjack4225 still waiting to see if they are planning other reissues on some of the bots that are hard to find or too expensive. I lucked out a year ago on a netflix bumble bee, but couldn't get that netflix soundwave, but seeing as hasbro reisued the seige soundwave. Thats the only one I think was just a missed step.

Even though this new ironhide blows the earth rise figure out of the water, I still think that earth rise is not a bad figure. For a deluxe it’s pretty ok

I didn't feel any of the complaints about the previous version. The only things I like better about this new one is the removal of the shield required for the roof transformation and the proper color of red being used. Otherwise, I really like the first version a lot and was thrilled to get him. Overall, I suppose the new one is better, but it does have a million different shades of red, too many little lines breaking it up all over in van mode, and not as much detailing on the surface of the figure. Both are good figures to me, each with their own issues.
This is one of my most anticipated figure releases (outside of the eventual Ratchet repaint). Can't wait to eventually get this in hand!
(Hopefully your sample was a reject for the paint mismatch, but I guess we'll see)

The mismatch colors, the R1 R2 L1 L2 thing in the windows, and then the huge bumps on this sides in vehicle mode for joints all make this a hard pass for me. Thank you for the review and all the work you do to go into so much detail.
If those minor things add up to a hard pass for you, then you must not own many new transformers

Wow this looks much better than I was expecting! I do love the van mode. Bit strange about the colour variation, but Hasbro gonna Hasbro I guess haha
I definitely think they should've included more accessories if they were going to bump the price up as much as they did, just seems like they feel they can charge astronomical prices and expect us to pay them. Sad thing is, a lot of people probably will. If I do get him, it'll be when he's on sale.
Mine came with two weapons instead of one like you did
I just got mine at my local Target store and I am very excited that I got him and the price range was less than $40 dollars and my figure came with two blasters and I don't mind if he doesn't come with the yellow stripes but overall it's a really good figure that Hasbro came out with. The fact that they went the extra mile to make a new vastly improved mould for ironhide is great, but it just makes the ss86 starscream look even worse than it already is. But hasbro is really pissing me off with the pricing. This doesn’t justify the voyager price at all. Same with blitzwing. At the very least give us all his accessories that he used in various episodes

This is what Transformers was always meant to be. This Ironhide is the perfect case of the gimmick handled as it should be.
Man ironhide is too small for a Voyager he should be at the height of starscream.
The sunbow height charts are just meaningless. As in the g1 show ironhide was toe to toe with starscream. Heck even ratchet in some scenes doing a flying kick on thundercracker was at same size as him.
I think in the show the scale was all over the place. Allowing hasbro to take advantage I guess :(

Don't mind me but in the movies like in dotm megatron and sentinel were of same height.
Only in transformers prime , and cyberverse the scaling was consistent.
Could also be the main reason I love those shows a lot.
Starscream is somewhat bigger than Ironhide.
This Ironhide is clearly the result of learning the lessons of the past mistakes on the character!

OBJECTION! It was Ratchet that was shot through the chest and had a visible hole, Ironhide got his head blown off when he grabbed Megatron's ankle.

I got my bf the Earthrise last year, but it looks like I'll have to get him this one too. It looks very good in spite of some of the issues.
Guess I've found a nice little gift for him when he'll be cancer free for three years in late December. 😁
Color mismatch is unfortunate but consistent with other figures, weapon storage makes a convincing drive shaft, straightforward enough transformation, screen accurate yet stylized enough to feel more interesting. Wow you got Ironhide already, that's amazing. we're still months off getting these in Australia
Seeing as a lot of people view conversion as a means to an end at this stage in collecting they kinda forget that at the end of the day your ticket price is for the amount of experience. To someone who isn’t a diehard but is consistently interested there’s definitely those looking for a conversion of this specific level and will pay for that. These toys were always sold for that experience: the conversion experience. It’s funny but sad seeing the constant screaming match transformers always are bc one steps to masterpieces all do the thing they all be turning into shit. I can hear you trying to make these points heard in this review and it makes me glad to see someone still values the experience more than the view ✨✨

don't forget masterpiece ironhide came out in 2015. 7 Years old and the engineering from the masterpiece figures drip into the toys that come out after it.

really hoping they continue this 86 line, especially for characters that are harder to track down (cough cough netflix soundwave)
This is the mainline Ironhide that I have always wanted from 1984!!! Absolutely love both modes and I'm definitely wanting this in my collection!!! I passed up on both Siege and Earthrise Ironhide, but I did get DK-2 Guard because I like the black color!! Appreciate the review, Prime vs Prime!!! I'm looking forward to getting this guy!!!
